Introduction
My Roots
I am a child of both the Orient and the Occident, a true nonconformist, and I believe in the undeniable power of love, compassion, and integrity.
Happily, my life on this beautiful planet has been marked, from the very beginning, by the rich diversity of my roots and the ever-changing contrasts of my surroundings. These circumstances sparked an intense curiosity and desire to expand my horizons early in life. My fascination with various religions and belief systems quickly evolved into an aspiration to explore the essence of existence itself. Breaking free from conventional boundaries inspired me to seek knowledge that extends far beyond the surface of reality.
My Inspiration
Many years ago, I came across a marvelous little book that profoundly touched my soul. It was written with authentic sincerity and devotion, instantly disarming my skepticism. The narrative retold the life of Zarathustra, the legendary Persian Sage, by presenting his stunning visions through a distinctive and brilliant perspective.
Though crafted with charming simplicity, the context conveyed magnificent philosophical values paired with unique interpretations. Ever since, Zarathustra’s universal teachings have influenced my beliefs, presenting complex ideas in a way that is both accessible and deeply convincing.
My cherished book slipped away long ago but its content always remained anchored in my heart. Throughout countless phases of my life, it has been my precious source of inspiration.
At times, I have fondly shared various fragments of this captivating legend with my loved ones and closest friends, always observing the soothing impact it produced. This repeated effect underscores the enduring significance of Zarathustra’s wisdom and highlights the transformative power of his revelations.
For far too long, this noble Prophet has been obscured from the wider world, and his ideology and faith have regrettably been distorted numerous times.
My accumulated historical knowledge of him, combined with my personal life experience, has steadily prepared me to share his legacy of superb insights and exceptional intelligence, along with my heartfelt reflections on its relevance to our modern world.
Ongoing Fascination
Zarathustra is always in my thoughts and heart. Driven by this fascination, I gradually uncovered more about his existence and unique contributions to humanity. This ongoing pursuit continues to reward me with countless assurances.
His teachings guide us with exalted understanding , revealing profound truths about our existence and drawing us closer to the omnipresent, benevolent force, the Eternal Light.
I have never doubted God’s existence, as this belief is deeply rooted within me. However, our intuitive perceptions often require clarification to fully understand the sources of our inner strength.
Various incidents have confirmed the presence of extraordinary protection in moments of need and, at times, divine guidance. Zarathustra’s explanations have helped me to recognize the meaning behind these experiences.
Childhood Memories
Light
As a young child, I sometimes noticed a splendid light surrounding my mother, strikingly setting her apart from everybody else. The vividness of those perceptions and the clarity of my emotions have stayed with me, becoming a treasured and lasting memory. These enthralling occurrences still resonate deeply within me. They revealed the beautiful, enlightened essence of her soul while simultaneously mirroring the boundless love I feel for her.
Moreover, in different phases of my life, I repeatedly noticed isolated sparks of light surrounding me in the atmosphere, a magnificent sight accompanied by comforting sensations. Such experiences lead me to believe that light in this form may indeed represent divine energy or perhaps even spirits, a profoundly uplifting idea. My understanding of these illumination phenomena finds validation in Zarathustra’s ancient teachings about the Eternal Light, our one and only source of existence.
Protection
One memorable occasion when I was seven years old, my aunt and her school friends took me along on a short trip to the Caspian Sea. Very early in the morning while everyone was still asleep, I got up and wandered off alone, crossing a small forest and proceeding along the seashore for some time.
The scenery was wild and deserted when I came across a small group of village boys who immediately expressed their interest in me. They could see and sense that I had little in common with them and were astounded to encounter me completely on my own. Before long, each of them began showing off various tricks, competing with one another to impress and win my admiration. Eventually they showed me how to catch snakes with my bare hands. I easily picked up their game, to my surprise, and miraculously managed to avoid getting bitten.
After quite some time, I grew bored and tired. I decided to return to the house, but as I started walking, I suddenly realized, with a growing sense of unease, that I was lost. Between the seashore and the houses, all I could see was wilderness. An unfamiliar sensation of naked fear quickly crawled up my back, utterly overwhelming me.
Suddenly and most miraculously, a big, wild dog emerged before me. At once I sensed the animal’s good intent as it moved closer, most delicately, so as not to frighten me. Gathering my entire courage, I cautiously started to pet it.
Following closely, the majestic black dog turned in a specific direction and slowly proceeded toward the forest. Just a short stretch away it stopped, waiting to see if I was coming along. In that moment I intuitively decided to trust and allow the good-hearted animal to guide me.
We walked for some distance, and then, magically, the house appeared between the trees. I felt substantial relief and gratitude. The gentle dog stayed until my aunt appeared in complete anxiety to collect me and then, reassured that I was safe, disappeared almost instantaneously.
Our Faith and Intuition
We all search for the meaning of life and yearn for compelling evidence to authenticate our convictions. Such enthralling experiences not only assure us of a divine force but also strengthen our sense of purpose. They lay the groundwork for our faith and nurture our intuition, guiding us soundly through life’s complexities. In turn, they leave us confident in the accuracy and validity of our conclusions, deepening our trust in the unseen forces that shape our understanding of the world.
Regrettably, only very few people are familiar with the brilliant legacy of Zarathustra. His sublime and benevolent teachings are life-changing and deserve to be widely known. When combined with the significant lessons of life, these illuminating ideas evolve into invaluable insights.
My personal interpretations do not necessarily have the same fundamental effects on others, but they are worth sharing. By communicating differing experiences of our existence, we might contribute to the well-being of others.
Considering our human intricacies and the countless formulas for achieving happiness and fulfillment, there is no guaranteed or absolute method. Each of us must discover and walk their own path. This ongoing quest represents the meaning of life.
Kindness, righteousness, love, and compassion will always be the better approach because they affiliate us with the Good Force. The truth of how our Creator has designed and endowed us is singular, just as the reality of the malevolent powers, which seeks only to destroy and cause chaos, is another undeniable truth.
The Purification of Our Souls
My book aims to reintroduce this unique Prophet to humanity and bridge his ancient philosophy with modern significance. His sublime revelations acquaint us with our God-given attributes and the positive power within and around us.
Zarathustra encourages us to seek endless possibilities in cultivating and purifying our souls and finding joy and fulfillment. He also reminds us of the danger of the dark forces, constantly trying to lure us into temptations and how we can combat them.
We are interconnected with each other, the world around us, and the Holy Eternal Light. This life-changing realization inspires us to pursue self-transformation and continually deepen our faith.
The Path to Contentment
Beyond writing, my work as a designer is driven by the spark of a beautiful thought that culminates in a tangible object. As I begin to devise, a universal sense of balance, harmony, and beauty is ever-present. By tapping into the omniscient entity, with patience and determination, I am guided to eventually discover the perfect form, texture, and color.
The feeling of contentment when thoughts and efforts transform into a beautiful, physical creation is unparalleled. This emotion liberates us, reinforcing the belief that creating is a process of aligning with the cosmic order. Each of us participates in this unique process, capable of bringing something meaningful into existence.
Our world is a material world directly connected to the spiritual world. Both worlds are equally enthralling and beautiful because they arise from the same source.
Chapter I
Unveiling the Legacy
This chapter presents factual details referring to the historical figure of Zarathustra, the unique Persian Prophet of antiquity. It delves into his momentous philosophy, which has left humanity a great treasure of insights and inspiration throughout millennia.
Over the course of centuries, numerous historians have attempted to establish Zarathustra’s time frame and geological origin by comparing invaluable ancient documents and archaeological discoveries. Among these various viewpoints I have selected specific evidence that supports the conclusions presented here in my book. These assertions, coupled with my personal intuition and reasoned judgment, vindicate my portrayal of this extraordinary and good-willed soul.
The following text underscores Zarathustra’s profound impact on the Persian Empire, with its far-reaching influence across the wider world. It demonstrates how his ideas and teachings influenced many facets of the Achaemenid and Sassanid eras and contributed to the grand success of this ancient world power, an extraordinary accomplishment that earned the admiration and respect of many nations.
My Beloved Zarathustra
Zarathustra was a Persian Prophet and the founder of Zoroastrianism, one of the oldest monotheistic religions of our civilization. His teachings emphasize the duality between good and evil, truth and lies, holy and destructive spirits, and the importance of individual choice in promoting order over chaos.1 The abundant cultural background of Zarathustra’s Irano-Aryan heritage, its intriguing spiritual complexity, linguistic refinement, and the Aryan essence of a primordial order laid the initial groundwork for his superb legacy.2
1 Khan, 1996
2 Heiler,1959, Wedemeier, 1995, p. 16
After spending years in solitude and meditation, Zarathustra advanced dramatically in his perception, comprehension, and knowledge. He revealed his ground-breaking belief in one omnipresent God, Ahura Mazda, and inspirited his supporters to actively participate in the universal battle against all evil. By aligning their spirits with the principles of kindness, generosity, and tolerance, he assured them that humanity could lead prosperous and joyful lives.3
3 Murray, 2016,p.36
Through his super-intelligent metaphorical teachings, the wise Prophet enlightened his followers with the implication that God is driven by pure benevolence and desires happiness and fulfillment for all innocent beings. He conveyed that Ahura Mazda, the Eternal Light, is the uncreated Creator of all existence, encompassing both the spiritual and material world, contrasting the forces of fear, chaos, and destruction.4
4 Dhalla D. D., n.d., p. 184
Zarathustra’s authentic sageness and practical influence extended far beyond philosophical beliefs. His illuminating ideas shaped the Persian Empire’s spiritual and ethical structure and later impacted various ideologies and religions. His guidance also contributed to progressive practical skills that constituted the pillars of the Persian Empire’s vast economic success.5 This overall expansion resulted in a rich exchange of cultural and intellectual ideas between the East and the West, thus building a bridge between the Orient and the Occident.
5 Khan, 1996
With the sincerest approach to valuing every human being, Zarathustra recommended self-reflection and a profound understanding of one’s inner self. This practice resonates with our contemporary quest for self-transcendence and comprehending all of one’s possibilities. It reflects the innate human aspiration to connect with something greater than oneself and to discover the full potential of one’s existence.
Zoroastrianism
Zarathustra’s path to the formation of the Zoroastrian religion was long and arduous. He spent many years tirelessly spreading his teachings while facing countless opposition and denials from ordinary people and their rulers. His revolutionary ideas were resisted for the longest time, especially by those who feared their power was at stake. But the wise Prophet’s adherence finally paid off when, at approximately 588 BCE, he encountered the Nobleman Hystapes, who became his devout supporter and powerful patron.6
6 Wedemeier, 1995, p. 52
This encounter finally brought about a long-awaited breakthrough. Hystaspes, with his authority and political power, was able to provide Zarathustra with significant support and protection against his enemies. His noble background and official endorsement of Zarathustra’s principles lent credibility to the teachings of the visionary Prophet. This prestigious approval facilitated the establishment of Zarathustra’s first religious institution. As a result, hundreds of truth-seeking individuals came to Keshmar to hear Zarathustra’s words of wisdom. Zoroastrianism began to flourish and eventually became the dominant religion of the Persian Empire, an enormous event in the history of religion.7
7 Wedemeier, 1995, p. 53
Beyond being the dominant faith of the Persian Empire and guiding every aspect of the magnificent reign of the Achaemenid and Sassanid dynasties, Zarathustra’s ideals and values also laid the foundation for holy monotheistic religions like Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
A Non-Punitive Principle
The sublime Prophet imparted his revelations to each person who came to seek his guidance and explained that indeed there exist countless approaches to spiritual realization and proximity to Ahura Mazda. Everybody is required to choose their own path and accept the consequences of their choices. God encourages humans to create beauty and strive for kindness and righteousness rather than to punish them.8 Contrary to seeking retaliation, Ahura Mazda forgives and uplifts every soul to, eventually, find salvation. From this aspect, Zarathustra’s principles differ distinctly from those of other religious traditions.9
8 Meacham, 2022
9 Spitama, 2024
In its genuine form, Zoroastrianism is a truly non-punitive religion that offers excellent guidance on uniting humans with the cosmic order.10 It consists of magnificent practical and metaphorical advocations that lead to earthly contentment, spiritual enlightenment, and well-balanced harmony. This benevolent religion promotes ethical principles but does not force their practice.
10 Iranschaehr, Hossein Kazemzadeh, as cited in Wedemeyer, 1995 1986, 30
It is written, and most likely to have occurred, that in the year of his breakthrough Zarathustra planted a cypress tree in his first Persian Garden of Keshmar in gratitude for his acceptance. On this occasion, he met Cyrus the Great, who had heard much of the unique Sage. This encounter must have been truly glorious. The greatest of the powerful rulers and the greatest of the enlightened spirits united their energy. King Cyrus the Great was impressed and inspired by Zarathustra and later declared himself to Zoroastrianism.11
11 Wedemeier, 1995, p. 54
Regretful Deviations
Sadly, after the decline of the Achaemenid Empire in the year 330 BCE, Zoroastrianism underwent changes that deviated from many of its original intentions. The power-hungry, wicked priests of the old religion gained new control. They reinforced elements of the past traditions with an escalation of complex purity laws, mandating strict adherence to specific rituals and practices to maintain physical and spiritual cleanliness. These laws were rigid and absurd and differed significantly from the liberal and good-willed ideas promoted by genuine Zoroastrianism.12
12 Wedemeier, 1995, p. 54
The worship of the old deities reemerged, and the resurrection of the fire cult became a central focus of Zoroastrian ceremonies. This tradition continues to this day. Non-conformity of these new rules often resulted in harsh penalties and social exclusion. These added elements and the use of intoxicants like haoma represent regrettable deviations from Zarathustra’s authentic principles.13
