A lot of people strugle with their identity and end up seeking who they are from other people. If you do not know who you are then people will make you who they want you to be.

It is imperative that one realizes their true identity because with it comes purpose. Your purpose is in your identity and so when you lose your identity youautomatically lose your purpose.

Your identity can only be found in God, and so is your purpose. Therefore, when your find God or look for God, you will find your identity and purpose in Him. Go to God for the sole purpose of asking Him who you really are and then become who God created you to be.

Your True Identity

Only God knows who you are as He is your Creator

Introduction

This is the one subject that is very difficult for one to get right and many of us are far from even trying to get it right. All my life up to this far, has been a struggle to find my true identity. It is a worldwide crisis and not every one of us is doing what we are supposed to do. Imagine what the world would be like if we all knew who we really are. There will no longer be economic fallout, abuse, rape, homosexuality, murder, suicide, poverty, jealousy, envy, hatred, etc. The world will be a better place to live in and all of us will be content.

I am inspired to write this book because all my life I struggled with knowing my true identity. I know that if I struggle with something, I am definitely not the only one. This is a worldwide crisis, and now that I finally know who I really am, thank God, I want to help those who are still where I used to be. If you lose your identity, you have lost everything. You will live all your life as someone other than whom you are supposed and meant to be.

I believe that all of us are created for a specific purpose on this earth and no one was born for nothing. People who are in prison and those who are doing bad and wrong things to make a living are all born for something special. God did not create you to be nothing and go nowhere. You are much better than who you have become and what you do. So I want you to give me a chance to at least help you get an idea or bring you closer to who you are meant to be in this life.

Who are you?!

This is my rhetoric question to you but many of us do not know half the answer to this question. By asking you this question I am not talking about what you do because what you do is the byproduct of who you are, if you are on the right path. What I am actually asking you is that do you know what is unique about you as an individual. Do you know what God has made you to be that is different from every other human being on this entire earth?

I know that this subject has been preached about, taught about and even written about many times before. I am definitely not adding my version to the already existing statistics but I want to bring about what has not been mentioned and emphasized upon from the depth of the truth. I am passionate and deeply concerned about people knowing that God has chosen them to be and do because I myself had a problem with finding myself all my life and it was the cry of my heart.

Before we go any further, can I just take a little sensor as to whether you know who you are? If you already know who you are then this is just a reminder, but if you do not know who you are yet then this is your fortunate day because I am going to help you find the answer to this very significant question.

It is sad and shocking to me to think of many people out of over seven billion people in this entire planet who still do not know who they really are. It is frustrating when you do not know who you are and why you were born. A person who does not know who he or she is becomes vulnerable and unstable. In other words, you do not have a standpoint and convictions, and that makes you vulnerable even more. You go wherever people tell you to go and do whatever they tell you to do even when you do not want to. There is a saying that “If you do not stand for something, you will fall for anything”. When you do not have an identity, you are like a child who does not know his or her father and where he or she comes from.

I know exactly what is like not knowing who you are because I have lived for all the years as a young man not knowing the reason I am here. Before I got born again I did not know myself and even after I accepted Christ I still did not know who I was. It took me more than ten years of my Christian life battling to discover my true identity. In the church that I used to fellowship in, I did a lot of things in terms of ministry. I was a bible class teacher, cell church leader and youth leader for a number of years. Nevertheless, deep down in my spirit, I still did struggle with who I was. I have ministered to many young and old people all that time and I got to see them grow and become better Christians and most of them discovering who they were, but I had a cry in my heart saying ‘Lord, what about me?’ I did not show it though, because as a Christian leader and icon you have to act like everything is alright when half the time it is not. I have been confused, miserable with no direction in my life even though I was now in the light. All the things I pursued in my life and the decisions I made came to naught. I am talking about the career paths I pursued after and even the relationships I got myself involved in, and those I ran after, fell apart. Even now I still think that had I discovered who I was earlier on in my youth, my life would be better today. Unfortunately, we cannot change the past but fortunately we can do better with our future because it is never too late. It is a struggle of a lifetime to discover our true identity because it is the hardest thing to get right. Even after you discover who you are, it is still a journey to master it because you have to make sure of it time and time again.
