Michael is lonely after a recent heartbreak by the woman he thought was his one and only. Desperate to find true love, he falls for a dating scam that matches him with Russian beauties. Despite his friends' warnings, Michael decides to travel to Moscow to date the women he has been chatting with online, but a series of bad dates leaves him even more discouraged. Then, he bumps into Veronika, one of the girls he met online, and they form a very close bond. Veronika visits him in New York, and it seems like true love, even though his friends still think it's a scam for money.

All except one

Michael is a lonely and ambitious guy, with dreams of opening his own vintage cocktail bar in New York. He works as an engineer, which pays well, but he spends most of his time face-lifting an urban Manhattan loft. This has been a big investment for him, and if his dream flops, he is ruined. His vision is to turn the loft into an astonishing bar that will serve classic cocktails under a huge skylight window, so guests can enjoy an old-fashioned Cosmopolitan while they’re stargazing.

His life seems perfect. He’s got a beautiful girlfriend, Caroline. He plans on proposing to her at his bar’s grand opening next year. But things take a sharp downturn when Caroline calls to tell him their relationship is over. He discovers she has blocked him on all social media, and she isn’t answering her phone.

Michael goes to her apartment building, but she won’t buzz him in, so he yells up to her from the street. Caroline tells Michael that she never really believed his ridiculous bar would work, and she hates the design choices. She throws his things out the window as he looks at her, dumbfounded.
