“Amanda, can you go walk the dog?” Amanda’s mom asked.
مامان آماندا پرسید: «آماندا، میتونی سگ رو ببری بیرون بگردونی؟»
“Not now. I’ll do it later,” Amanda replied.
آماندا جواب داد: «الان نه. بعدا میبرمش.»
“When will you help me make Dad’s birthday card?” asked her little sister, running into Amanda’s room. “I’ve been waiting all day."
خواهر کوچکتر آماندا دوید توی اتاق و پرسید: «کی بهم کمک میکنی که کارت تولد بابا رو درست کنیم؟ تمام روز منتظرت بودم.»
“His birthday isn’t for another week!” Amanda replied, sighing, not even turning her head. “We can do it tomorrow.”
آماندا آهی کشید و بدون اینکه حتی سرش را برگرداند، جواب داد: «هنوز یه هفته دیگه به تولد بابا مونده. فردا انجامش میدهیم.»
Later, her little brother came in too. “Amanda, can you read me a book?” he asked. “I love it when you read for me. Especially this story about pirates.”
کمی بعد، برادر کوچولوش هم سر رسید و پرسید: «آماندا، میشه یه کتاب برام بخونی؟ من خیلی قصه خوندنت رو دوست دارم. مخصوصا این داستان که در مورد دزدهای دریاییه.»
“I don’t feel like it right now. Maybe another day,” Amanda said.
آماندا گفت: «الان حوصلهاش رو ندارم. باشه یه روز دیگه.»
Hours turned into days, and Amanda still didn’t do any of these things. When her dad’s birthday came and she still hadn’t made a card, she thought, No big deal, I’ll just make a card next year.
