“Amanda, puoi portare a passeggio il cane?” chiese la mamma di Amanda.
“Amanda, can you go walk the dog?” Amanda’s mom asked.
“Non ora, lo farò più tardi,” rispose Amanda.
“Not now. I’ll do it later,” Amanda replied.
“Quando mi aiuterai a fare il biglietto di auguri di compleanno per papà?” le chiese la sua sorellina, entrando nella stanza di Amanda. “È tutto il giorno che aspetto.”
“When will you help me make Dad’s birthday card?” asked her little sister, running into Amanda’s room. “I’ve been waiting all day."
“Manca una settimana al suo compleanno!” Rispose Amanda sospirando, senza nemmeno girarsi verso di lei. “Possiamo farlo domani.”
“His birthday isn’t for another week!” Amanda replied, sighing, not even turning her head. “We can do it tomorrow.”

Later, her little brother came in too. “Amanda, can you read me a book?” he asked. “I love it when you read for me. Especially this story about pirates.”

“I don’t feel like it right now. Maybe another day,” Amanda said.
