The pen and ink illustrations by Palmer Cox are "worth the price of admission".Each little tale about the Brownies is enjoyable.They learn to dance, they go to a ball. they celebrate Hallow-Eve,they pilot a tugboat, and on and on they go.It is, of course, dated. There is a tale of their guiding a mule and barge through a canal, but it doesn't take away from the delight in reading these stories. As the tale are told in poetic verse, you will found yourself, at times, reading them out loud. These stories were so popular that when Kodak came out with their $1 camera that everybody could use to take great pictures, they called the camera a Brownie!
