EPISODE 19SECRET MISSION (1)

Lilly had surprised her son when she casually suggested a trip to Rogos Veridis. She would also like to see this beautiful planet that everyone raved about. They could confidently forget the days of agonising with Nolan in the school canteen as they gathered ideas for a return to the green planet. Astro's mother had beaten them to it. Now all that remained was to keep the Lunar Team's mission a secret. But they would come up with something to slip away when the time came.

Astrolabius grabbed the straps as the flyer entered the upper atmosphere on the other side of the planet and the shuttle began to vibrate. The former Don Boss shuttle was the latest of its kind and largely absorbed the vibrations. Don Boss's stay at the Lunar Station had been beneficial in this respect, as he had provided the Mondians with high-tech shuttles, so to speak. Astro turned around in his seat and stared out the window behind him. The plasma clouds glided past the windows and radiated warmth into the interior despite the thick thermal protection glazing. He loved moments like these. When humanoids pulled together, created projects for the good of society and made them a reality. It was only because of spaceships that the Mondians had learned about this planet. They also learned about the plight of the Nari, and so they were able to save them from disaster with a rescue team. The pilot steered the flyer into its final approach to Rogos Verdis, and soon they would touch down.

In the final moments before landing, Nolan also turned around and looked at the landscape. His gaze darted quickly from the tablet to the window and back again. Satisfied, he whispered, "My map of Rogos is pretty accurate. I'm looking forward to our little adventure. Now we just have to find a way...‘ ’What are you whispering about so mysteriously?‘ Claire pushed herself between her brother and Nolan and looked at him curiously. Nolan felt caught out, blushed and pushed up his glasses: ’Nothing... we... we're just talking about the beautiful view. Everything is so green and... friendly... here."

Seeking help, he turned to Astro: ‘Is that right?’ Astro had to stifle a laugh: ‘Yes, Harper. Everything here is “green and friendly”.’ A mischievous gleam appeared in Claire's eyes: ‘Everything is “green and friendly”? The meadow is green and friendly? The Rogosians are green and friendly?’

Nolan cleared his throat: ‘You know what I mean, Claire. Astro, help me out here.’ Astrolabius knew exactly how to distract his sister: ‘Can you keep a secret, Claire?’ Her eyes widened and she nodded reverently. ‘Nolan is a little embarrassed, so you can't tell anyone. But...’ He leaned closer to her. ‘He's head over heels in love with a girl from Nari. Her name is Hina.’ Nolan glared at Astro, his face turning bright red. Claire triumphed and let out her bell-like laughter. She began to sing: ‘Nolan and Hina meet on the moon and kiss, he says to her in the moonlight, I love you...’ ‘Claire, darling, come back. The pilot wants us all to sit down and fasten our seatbelts.’ She quickly hopped back and sat down next to her mother again. ‘Well, thanks a lot, Winter,’ Nolan sulked. The two boys were startled when Dolores Harper suddenly appeared behind them:

‘Noli, what's this I hear? Claire just told me that you're in love. Is it true? I'm so proud of you!’ Astrolabius pursed his lips to stifle his laughter again.

‘Mum, please! The pilot said everyone should stay seated.’ Dolores looked at him lovingly and placed a caring hand on his cheek: ‘You know you can talk to me about anything. You see, your body is changing and...’ ‘Mum!’ he interrupted his mother in horror. The pilot's voice came over the loudspeakers, Nolan's salvation: ‘We will be landing in a few seconds and ask everyone to remain seated until we have landed safely.’ Dolores kissed Nolan on the forehead and sat back down. Nolan shot Astro an angry look. ‘Oh, Noli! Don't be angry. An exciting adventure awaits us!’ Astro smiled. ‘You'll get that back someday,’ Nolan grinned, and Astro was glad that his best friend was not the type to hold a grudge.

When the engines suddenly roared and the flyer tilted, Astro and Nolan quickly sat back down properly. Claire pressed herself against her mother and Dolores against her husband Matthew. ‘It's okay, Dolores, we're about to land.’ Dolores explained, ‘You know I don't like flying.’ ‘I'm glad you came with us,’ Matthew reassured her. Dolores smiled: "I'm also happy that we're all taking this trip together. Nolan and Astrolabius have already told me that everyone is very friendly.‘ Claire suddenly piped up: ’... and green!" Lilly, Matthew and Dolores looked at each other questioningly. Then they all laughed at sweet Claire.

The flyer landed safely in the west of Nari. The Mondians had announced their arrival via the Rogosian traders at the free port and were already expected by the Nari. The village elder, Oda Noba, greeted them: ‘Good day! Welcome! I think I speak for all of us when I say that a visit from the Mondians is always a pleasure. Astrolabius, Nolan and Matthew, it's wonderful to see you back so soon. And who are the lovely ladies accompanying you?’ Claire shyly pressed herself against her mother. Dolores stood right next to Matthew. They stared at the large wolf that was trotting towards Kayun and staring at the new arrivals. Oda followed their gaze and reassured them: ‘Don't worry, that's Storm. He won't hurt you!’ Astrolabius stepped forward and scratched Storm's head. Lilly sucked in her breath sharply.

Astro said, ‘May I introduce you, Oda! This is Dolores, Nolan's mother, my mother Lilly, and my fearful sister Claire.’ Claire squeaked, ‘I'm not fearful!’ Then she took a brave step forward. Her face was only slightly higher than Storm's. He looked at her curiously and then slowly approached her. Claire reached out and stroked his head. He snuggled up to her, and Claire had a little trouble keeping her balance. But then she hugged the tame wolf exuberantly and cried, ‘Mum, I want a pet like that too! Can I?’ Lilly shook her head amusedly. Then she turned to the village elder: ‘My son has told me only good things about you, Mr Noba.’ He spread his arms, walked towards Lilly and hugged her. Confused, she looked at Astrolabius, who was grinning from ear to ear and nodded in agreement: ‘I am very happy that you are here. I am Oda. We all call each other by our first names.’ Then he let go of Lilly and turned to Dolores. Before she could react, he hugged her too. When he let her go, she had a broad smile on her face and her cheeks were flushed. She stammered, ‘That's... extremely...’ Claire jumped around and shouted, ‘Friendly and green!’
