Sie sprechen Englisch. Mit einer Reihe typisch deutscher Fehler im Englischen haben Sie keine Probleme mehr, da Sie mein erstes Buch «Speak you English?» bereits erfolgreich durchgearbeitet haben. Eines stört Sie allerdings noch: Ihre Unsicherheit im Gebrauch der berüchtigten englischen Zeiten.
Die englischen Zeiten sind nicht nur darum gefährliche Klippen, weil einige von ihnen Differenzierungen erlauben, die im Deutschen nicht möglich sind, sondern auch weil sie deutschen Zeiten teuflisch ähnlich klingen, mit denen sie nichts gemeinsam haben. Und da Zeiten in jedem Satz vorkommen, ist die Gefahr, sich unrichtig auszudrücken, ständig präsent.
Sie haben nun die Möglichkeit, mit Zeitfehlern gründlich aufzuräumen. Mit diesem Buch können Sie sich die häufigsten Fehler, die Deutsche im Umgang mit den wichtigsten englischen Zeiten machen, nach dergleichen Methode wie bei «Speak you English?» abüben – der Methode, Englisch durch Englisch zu lernen. Sie wird zur «Nachbehandlung» eingesetzt, der sich alle, die Grundkenntnisse in der englischen Sprache haben, unterziehen können, die aber auch für Fortgeschrittene erfahrungsgemäß angebracht ist.
Der Aufbau des Lernprogramms beruht auf dem Prinzip von Test und Kontrolle. Beim Durcharbeiten ist zu beachten:
Auf jeweils einer rechten Seite stehen richtige und fehlerhafte Sätze unterschiedslos nebeneinander (Übungen). Versuchen Sie rasch anzugeben, wo welcher Fehler steckt.
▸Nach dem Umblättern können Sie prüfen, ob Sie richtig verbessert oder Fehler übersehen haben (Lösungen). Sie finden alle Übungssätze der vorherigen Seite wiederholt, wobei Fehlerkorrekturen halbfett hervorgehoben sind und Ziffern auf die grammatikalischen Erläuterungen im Anhang verweisen.
▸Jeder fehlerhafte Satz enthält nur einen Fehler. Jeder Fehler wird zunächst in dichter Abfolge wiederholt und dann mit größerem Abstand – zur «Schlußkontrolle» des Übungserfolgs – noch einmal gebracht.
▸Jeder Fehler wird so oft wiederholt, daß Sie ihn gründlich verlernen können. Die Wiederholungshäufigkeit stützt sich auf praktische Unterrichtserfahrungen.
▸Je schneller Sie die Übungen durcharbeiten, desto wirksamer werden Sie Ihre Fehler los.
