Dedication
I dedicate this book first of all to the glory of my Almighty God and to my Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, who has been the voice out of silence that has persuaded me to write most of the words you will read. In the stillness and darkness of night, even when my shadow abandons me, he is always with me.
I also dedicate this book to my loving wife Rocio for her encouragement to fulfil an unspoken promise. To my late mother Ruby, who was my first human contact, the first woman I loved, the one who soothed me on restless late night watches and, above all, for being my spiritual rock and the still waters that gave me sanctuary in the depth of God’s word.
To everyone who reads these words I hope you will be lifted up by the same Holy Spirit and by the word that comes with an urgent sense of time. It is my hope and prayer that this little light of mine will shine strong enough so that you will be filled with the joy and reflection that comes from knowing the great I Am and the fullness of his love, his mercy and his grace.

Your Shadow
The sun no longer casts your shadow long,
Angels have taken you and now you’re gone.
No matter how long life is short and brief,
Full of some laughter and a measure of grief.
The cross you were nailed to for us has remained,
In the hearts that love you and call on your name.
The shadow of God’s son the seed Mary would bear
Lead us to eternal life and the power of prayer.
The cross is the symbol of suffering and shame
You said not a word and you took all of the blame.
Your shadow now altered by a crown full of thorns
This babe in a manger for this moment was born.
You taught us life isn’t measured by number of years
Nor struggles and suffering and yielding of tears.
It’s measured by those we have loved in this life,
And by those we have lead to you Jesus Christ.
