PROLOGUE
The Perfect Utopia had been planned in a period of panic and terror. This meant that humans were in a way forced into the current unpleseant situation without much of a choice. In fact it was only the best scientists in the world who had decided the future movements of the human race. People were dying of diseases which had been cured for centuries. It was hard to believe that these diseases were back and peopel were dying from these diseases, along side natural events that in reality were not natural at all.
This was happening because there were too many people on Earth and something had to be done. The Human Race had finally put greed aside and the rich people had finally accepted the fact that they did not need to have numerous expensive cars and houses. They were willing to help people who were homeless and in need. To the point that so many people were being helped and then there was no such thing as hunger on planet Earth.
Even aliens who were not interested in being partners with human beings were getting in touch just to compliment how well the human race was doing. The Human Race had been in touch with aliens for centuries at this point. One particular species had even saved the Earth by moving it to another galaxy to avoid being eaten by the Sun. Everyone was perfectly happy and feared nothing however this soon changed.
People began to notice that there were not many resources on the planet because of its' fast increase in population due to people's death rates suddenly decreasing by the minute. Solutions such as leaving Earth and heading to another galaxy with fellow aliens were being considered. In fact many decided to leave planet Earth, at the condition of being slaves for these aliens.
The rest who decided to stay had to think of a solution. Due to people leaving, the population had decreased signifiantly but not enough. People were still having too many babies, everyone was living for too long as life expectancy had increased because there was no disease on the planet.
The main government was the sole government on Planet Earth, as all the different governments in the world became one when they had to continuously think of the planet’s survival. The government decided that each family could only have one child and if they wished to have a second then they would have to wait for the first child to be at least 10 years old. Want to be parents could have children only after both turning 26 years of age and anyone who would fall to be pregnant before that, would result in abortion. This was not enough. People did not care and they liked going against the rules. Something more serious needed to be done.
The government worked on causing natural events that would cause a lot of destruction and casualties. These were volcano eruptions, tsunamis, earthquakes and also tornados and hurricanes. People were too busy running to notice that they were artificially made. If they were to ever suspect this, they would not be too sure as there was not a person alive during this time who had actually see these natural events occuring. Previously over the years, the government had found a way to stop such events from happening thanks to new technology. Nonetheless the government kept denying accusations of anyone who suspected of them. They would reply by saying that it was the world rebelling and that they should have left with those who left Earth.
After a while they also stopped treatments in hospitals, again without telling anyone the truth. Alongside this they also thought of a way to transmit various diseases in chosen areas of the planet. This led to the infected people being called "touched" as labelled as people who had no hope of surving. The touched had developed so many other diseases that resulted in them even just spreading their diseases just by touching someone even if just for a split second.
The Perfect Utopia was meant to be for the Human Race salvation. It took only 9 years to build the Perfect Utopia. People had began working on it before the disastrous events took place, once again without being aware of it. Over the years the Earth had changed in shape and resembled the old Pangea shape, however the government made sure some lands were seperated from the the Perfect Utopia chosen land, so that the touched could be kept on these infected lands.
The Perfect Utopia was divided in 4 regions and surrounding these regions there was a long wall and a protective glass. Acutally the glass was just a screen that projected horrible images of terror to scare humans who thought of wanting to leave the Perfect Utopia. Just before moving to the Perfect Utopia, people had voted which language to speak in the new world. Not everyone agreed with the choice but new rules had to be followed. Everyone was equal, everyone was given a place to live, food and water that was scheduled and given to everyone everyday as everyone firmly believed it was a human right to have these. The condition was that in return everyone did their assigned job.
The coloured zones were the lands infected and the rest were the chosen areas.
CHAPTER ONE
It began
The Perfect Utopia was open for all nationalities and races. When an untouched and therefore survivor of the Human Race got to the gate, the gate would scan the survivor to see if they were really clean and if they were then they could be registered into the system. Following this, the system would then assign them a job and transport them to their new home.
"Save the Human Race!" people shouted when a survivor walked in. The gate was technologically made, it was located at the north of the Breathpon region. It did not matter where you or your family had come from, it did not matter which language you spoke or religion you practised. You were going to be treated equally as long as you followed the rules.
The main rule was you had to offer your contribution to the Perfect Utopia by working, in exchange for that you would not get money as money was not going to be used anymore, but you would get food, water, and somewhere to live. Only 11 billion people reached the gate out of the 26 billion people who lived on Earth before the disastrous events took place. But this number soon changed again as the facilities in the Perfect Utopia were not made yet, many were chosen to work in construction, and a lot of them died. Other casualties included those who complained about their assigned job, as they would be kicked out to be left to die. The glass screen projected terrible images of the natural events and some decided it was best to remiain in the Perfect Utopia, and therefore, live.
Thomas Ward the leader of the Perfect Utopia was not happy with people rebelling and dying because they didn’t like to do as they were told. But those jobs were needed so he decided that something had to be done for the next generations to stay in the Perfect Utopia until its fall which was programmed to happen on its 55th year, as after 55 years the population would be less in number and there would be plenty of resources. The adults and children who were not born in the Perfect Utopia were forced to a job, the newborns weren't. Whoever was born in the Perfect Utopia wanted to do their assigned job. At birth, each and everyone of them received a treatment. All the way from childhood to adulthood whoever received the treatment would have subliminal messages sent to the brain, indicating them their future job. There were all sorts of jobs available and the newborns adored their job since they were children. The Perfect Utopia was indeed perfect as everything worked. No one complained, and everything was under control. But one day this changed.
The air was warm and children were playing and adults relaxing outside as it was a bright sunny day. They were all enjoying the last hour of a classic sunday. Day of rest in the Perfect Utopia. Something was about to change, a terrible secret was going to be discovered. All thanks to a simple choice. If this choice had not been made, the Perfect Utopia would still probably exist and who knows if the secret would have been ever discovered since it was purely coincidental.
The Old Library was more than just old, it was really ancient and no one would usually enter it as it lacked many of the useful books written specifically for an inhabitant of the Perfect Utopia. No one had a reason to look for resources in the Old Library when they knew plenty of other libraries all around the 4 regions of the Perfect Utopia had lots of brand new resources to offer. If a person even considered entering the Old Library although he or she would be laughed at, as people knew it didn't have much to offer, that person would stop at the entrance to read the sections available. Only a few would enter to take a look around these sections and just one would dare to explore its interior to then notice a restricted section. Only an explorer, only someone really curious and who had no reason to be in there and nothing to look for. A child.
A 13 year old girl with bright ginger hair was playing hide and seek with an 11 year old boy with luminous blond hair. In the Perfect Utopia no one had grey or white hair. Everyone was happy and lived a long and relaxed life full of productive days. The children are happy, they are enjoying themselves, they were born during the Perfect Utopian Era, why shouldn't they? Everything was calm. The Earth had never been so clean. Everyone helped and trusted each other and it all worked. A plan such as the Perfect Utopia had been successful and nothing had ever went wrong.
The girl walked past an old library of the old planet Earth, the oldest library that still hadn't been taken down. Located in the Breathpon region. She knew the place is deserted and therefore thinks that the boy might be hiding there. She decided to take a quick look and if she couldn't find him there, she would exit the library and continue looking for the boy somewhere else. She entered the library and read the sections available at the entrance. The girl laughed at the titles of the sections because they didn't offer much, at least not as much as the other libraries she had vsiisted for school work. She then decided to take a look at the first floor and call the boy’s name to warn him that it’s best to play outside in the sun instead of being in an old dusty creepy dark place that nobody visits. She was looking for the young boy while she noticed a "do not enter" sign at the end of the 1st floor. The door was open, she began wondering whether the boy was hiding in there. At least she hoped it was him who had opened the door and not someone or something else. She called his name but there was no reply snd she is concerned as she was sure the door had been opened because of him, she had really hoped Jimmy was there. She didn't give up easily so she attempted again.
"Jimmy!" she shouted.
"What?" Jimmy replied in a bothered tone.
The girl was glad the boy had responded and msde a sound of relief. But this didn't last long as she soon wondered why he hadn’t said anything else, such as for example, complaining about the fact that she has found him and therefore it meant she had won the game. This thought was then followed by another one concerning the current location.
"You can't hide here, it's a restricted area!"
To which the young boy replied, "Oh but it's so cool here Lilly. You've got to check this out!"
"I believe you but it's better to play outside!"
Jimmy did not answer.
Lilly in that moment had both the wish of leaving the Old Library and also the desire of knowing what could be so cool in this old deserted library instead of playing outside. Besides she had also won the game and it was her turn to hide.
"Jimmy, one last time. I'll call your mum and dad if you don't!"
Jimmy was busy doing something else instead of answering.
Lilly finally entered the restricted section. She could suddenly see why Jimmy did not want to leave. It was truly beautiful. It was full of pictures on the wall which she or any of the Perfect Utopia inhabitants had never seen, to her they looked like a mixture of photographs and drawings. They looked really antique to her “2031, this is so old!".
While she looked for Jimmy she walked pass different old terrestrial phones. She read all sorts of signs saying words such as "United States of America", "France", and "Egypt". It was full of names. She remembered reading in school that Breathpon was composed of what had remained of the old United States of America, Canada and Mexico. But it wasn't much explained and teachers didn't really seem to believe a world different from the one they lived in.
She finally found Jimmy looking at an old “Television flat screen” dating 2013.
"There you are! Why didn't you answer me? Let's go, come on!"
Lilly shaked Jimmy but he didn't move, he was too busy looking at the screen.
She began wondering why Jimmy looked like he was in some sort of a trance so she decided to take a look as well. It was soon evident why Jimmy's eyes did not move or blink, not even once. How could someone watch and ignore such a horrid sight. This wasn't something children or anyone was meant to see.
The screen was showing various short clips of early-Earth events. Wars and protests that they or anyone on the Perfect Utopia had never learned. Diseases and discoveries they never imagined possible. And most of all what had been hidden for many many years, the truth. The Perfect Utopia had been created after the government killed billions and billions of people because the Earth was overpopulated. They had all been lied to.
A woman whose name was not mentioned was speaking about a treatment. A treatment all inhabitants of the Perfect Utopia would receive at birth. This treatment would continuously give to each individual subliminal messages about what they were meant to do once they became an adult. Meaning in some way, people were born and knew exactly what to do and what they were meant to do and they never tried or attempted to try anything else besides what the Government had chosen for them.
Lilly and Jimmy began asking questions such as, "Is this why I've never liked any other sports besides Basketball?", "What I want to do is really an idea of the Government and not mine?".
They were asking themselves all these questions until it got to the point they even wondered if they had an identity. "Who are we?" Jimmy cried.
What had them wondering the most was the fact that no one else currently living there, besides perhaps people working for the government, knew about this.
They knew they had to do something so they decided to tell adult members of the community. The message was soon spread around. The truth caused a lot of anger in the streets and homes in the regions of the so-called Perfect Utopia.
People couldn't believe what they were hearing so some went and watched the video Lilly and Jimmy first saw in the Old Library.
Adult members of Breathpon felt sick while others rebelled against the Government, the United Fields.
And so the Great Mental War began which lasted 28 years. The population of the world went from 12 billion to 3 billion. The casualties were the result of physical, but most of all, mental diseases.
The people were understandebly shocked as soon as they heard the news, they didn't feel mentally stable and so developed certain mental diseases because of stress, insecurity and the feeling of betrayal. It was all new for them as everything in the Perfect Utopia had been calm and peaceful. Some regions had specific treatments to help people deal with their emotions but they would not tell the other regions to help those who needed them. This led to fights and physical injuries between the regions and overall many casualties.
The Perfect Utopia had been created to unite what had remained of Planet Earth after a series of disastrous earthquakes, tsunamis and various infectious diseases. Everyone spoke one language, the language that had been voted in a big world wide election and they followed one religion only, which had also been voted. And no one, no one discriminated or even classified people as being different one another because of physical appearance. It was a perfect solution but it hadn't been programmed to last forever. It actually lasted more than scientists had planned. Instead of 55 years it lasted 124 years. But all things end, and new things begin.
