Learn how to interpret your own dreams

Our dreams are the mouthpiece of our subconscious. It is its means of expression to get in touch with us. You could also say that our innermost self tries to tell our conscious mind how we are feeling, what we should change and how we can feel better. However, the often confusing scenarios of dreams do not allow for a simple interpretation. Dreams are like a foreign language that we first have to translate.

The language of the subconscious

People realized very early on that dreams are not a coincidence, but a very individual processing of feelings and experiences. Far removed from all spiritual and magical interpretations, psychology has been studying these phenomena for as long as it has existed. Our dreams - whether they are beautiful or unpleasant - teach us how we really feel and what we should definitely change in our lives. Understanding them enriches our lives enormously.

Dream interpretation - is it just a crazy idea or serious science?

Unfortunately, dream interpretation has a reputation for being dubious and unscientific. This reputation is reinforced by the fact that the interpretations of dreams are extremely varied. There is rarely just one particular interpretation. The fact is, however, that dreams do not occur by chance. Our subconscious processes emotional states, experiences and adventures and expresses them visually. Your feelings during the dream and shortly after waking up always play an important role in the interpretation of your dreams. We often know whether it was a "nice" or "unpleasant" dream. Dream interpretation teaches us exactly why it was nice or unpleasant.

Introduction

"I had a very strange dream last night!" How many conversations in your everyday life started with this sentence? People are always fascinated by the movies that play in their heads as they fall asleep. Many believe that dreams can predict the future because they reflect our own lives or symbolize what we want. In any case, dream interpretation has developed into an art form over the centuries.

We sleep through about a third of our lives. We have dreams for one to two hours every night. There are four to seven different types of dreams. When we reach the average life expectancy, we will spend about six years in a dream world.

Here are some interesting facts about dreams and dreaming:

Everyone dreams, really everyone! If we don't remember our dreams, it doesn't mean that we haven't had any dreams.

Dreams are important. A lack of dreams can indicate protein deficiency or personality disorders.

Men dream more about other men, while women dream about men and women.

People who stop smoking have longer and stronger dreams.

Babies do not dream about themselves and do not appear in their own dreams until they are 3 to 4 years old.

You cannot snore and dream at the same time.

Blind people can also dream. Whether these dreams contain visual elements depends on whether they were blind at birth or later. In other words, whether they have ever had a visual experience. However, dreams also contain sounds, feelings and smells. Blind people are more sensitive to these, and these elements are more important in their dreams.

The dream world is very exciting. Full of hope, expectation and fear. We can wake up from beautiful dreams feeling refreshed and happy. On the other hand, we can wake up from a sweaty nightmare, be glad it's over and feel nervous, scared or panicky.

The importance of dreams has been recognized since Freud published his dream interpretations. However, dream interpretation existed long before that. In the past - and in some cases still today - people were very superstitious about dreams and often interpreted them as prophecies.

This is a common misconception. If you fall from the tower in a dream and do not wake up before landing, you will of course not die. If you dream of the death of someone close to you, this is not a warning. Dreams cannot predict the future. However, they can help us to understand ourselves. They support us in dealing with our overwhelmed or indecisive phase of life. If we are uncertain, they can consciously or unconsciously lead us in a certain direction. Or if we dream of beautiful things, they can simply make us feel good.

The dream state is like a playground that allows limitless experimentation. You have the opportunity to express your feelings and act them out without further consequences, as you would in the waking state. Dreams offer the opportunity to express all aspects of yourself, your desires and your potential as a spiritual being.

Dreams can refer to interpersonal relationships, health issues, professions and emotions. You can also find answers to psychological problems in your sleep or reward yourself for accepting particular challenges. In addition to the spiritual and psychological insights that dreams provide, they also have important functions that help us deal with the emotions and experiences of daily life.

The ability to interpret dreams is therefore a powerful tool. In this way, you can learn a lot about your hidden feelings and secrets through targeted analysis. As far as you are concerned, no one can understand you better than you yourself.

In this book, we will look at the meaning of different dream contents and clarify their scientific side. However, it is not a definitive guide, but a quick start on how to use your life for a night journey.

Remember: dreams contain body, mind and soul. It offers you a comprehensive insight into your own existence and your subconscious. Stay alert to your dreams and you will understand yourself better. Explore, discover and enjoy the fun of exploring your dreams.
