1. The Basic Tool Kit
A few simple tools and household items compose the jeweler’s tool kit. A set of pliers—round-, flat-, and bent-nose—plus a set of wire cutters will quickly get you started. Your kit will need a work surface—use anything from a terry cloth towel to a jewelry pad. Add a steel ruler, measuring tape, scissors, and spring clips, and your tool kit is complete.
Tool sets that include basic pliers, cutters, and even jewelry tweezers for working with smaller diameter beads, are perfect for the new jewelry craftsman. You can also purchase your pliers and cutters individually. Purchasing specific individual higher-quality tools is an excellent option as you advance in your craft.
