Gears of War 3 Walkthrough Guide
Are you ready for the thrilling conclusion to the Epic's epic trilogy? It's time to take the role of Marcus Fenix once again, teaming up with the COGs, to end the locust war on the Planet Sera. If you've played the previous two games, and I'm sure you have, then you'll feel right at home here.
This time you can team up with three other players to take on the entire single player campaign. Don't worry if you have no friends though, as the enemy AI is more than capable. They'll help you kill the enemy, rather than shoot at thin air. They'll also revive you when you get knocked down. If you do get knocked down, and you will, make sure you rapidly tap the A button, and try not to move. Moving makes you bleed out quicker. Just be careful not to get knocked down in the middle of an army of Locusts or Lambent. If so then move to your nearest team mate for help if it becomes desperate.
Take cover often, aim for the enemies head, unless they are a Lambent and have a big obvious glowing yellow spot, then aim for that. Make sure you pick up ammo replenishments at every opportunity. There are many weapons on offer this time around, but sometimes you can't beat the traditional Lancer. Don't be afraid to use the chainsaw attachment either. Sometimes the enemy will hide themselves behind posts. While they do stick out enough of their body for you to aim at, sometimes it's best to same ammo and approach them from behind with a fully revved chainsaw. Gory stuff.
Unlike the previous two games the normal difficulty setting causes very little challenge, so you can take more risks. Naturally the harder settings involve a lot more patience.

Let us begin.
Prologue
When you gain control of Marcus follow Anya to the door at the end. You will reappear outside in a courtyard. Move forward to the self rebuilding structures. Go through the arch and take cover behind the wall ahead. There are Locusts on the other side that you need to take care of. Don't make any hasty movements as all you need to do is hold them off. A short while later a Corpser appears. Keep shooting it until the cutscene shows.
If you need to reload, press the reload button when the moving line hits the white bar. This will load the gun quicker. Failing to do this will jam the gun and waste precious time and could result in your death.
ACT 1
Chapter 1: Anchored
If you forget you current objective hold the Left Bumper to view it. This will also show you your team mates current position.
Head into the hallway and open the next door on your right. After talking to Dom, continue through the ship to trigger a cutscene. Afterwards, go towards the next door. Once the door opens, you will have to deal with Polyps. These Lambents are small, fast, and come in packs. Shoot them before they get too close as they explode. Move through the door and turn right. More Polyps will come so be aware.
There's a Lambent to deal with at the top of the stairs. Shoot his glowing yellow parts to take him down quickly. Once you've disposed of him some Lambent Drones drop onto the deck. Take them out and move towards the nearby control room. Another creature comes out of the large hole. Here you are prompted to use the chainsaw on your gun to kill him. Get used to this method as it's the vest way to deal with hiding enemies throughout the entire game. The Lambent tend to explode when they're killed, but if you're killing them via melee you will be safe from their explosion. Once the area is clear, hit the switch.
After the next cutscene you'll have to deal with more Glowies on the deck ahead. There's also an enemy on the bridge above. Take him out as as soon as possible Once the area is clear down, move up the sip and take out the next group of enemies. There will be a third and final wave of enemies after that. Take them out and pick up ammo if needed, then head upstairs. There are a couple of Longshot sniper rifles up here, if you'd rather use them. If you do make sure you switch back to a shotgun or Lancer afterwards as Long shots aren't so useful in close stand-offs.
After the cutscene, keep an eye out on the right for a hidden area. You can melee/chainsaw the crates out of the way, where you'll find ammo and useful Frag Grenades. At this point, you'll also be told about spotting. Aim at an enemy and click in the Left Thumbstick to tag them. This is great for marking important targets so the AI team mates or real life friends can eliminate the threat. Afterwards, head back towards the lift previously raised and deal with the new batch of enemies.
Carmine raises the lift for you, and more enemies drop onto the deck ahead. Take them out and deal with the Lambent that come up from below deck, then head down. At the bottom of the stairs you will be blocked off by fire. Luckily there's a fire extinguisher nearby. Pick it up and use it like it's a weapon. Aim for the fire and press the trigger button. You'll soon run into more Lambent. Switch to a weapon to automatically drop the fire extinguisher. Deal with the group attacking Prescott to end the chapter.
