Few handy Amazon Fire tablet tips and tricks
Perhaps you’re selling or giving out a Kindle Fire. Maybe a child or well-meaning acquaintance screwed up your Kindle’s settings, or your Amazon account was just hijacked. Whatever the cause, you’ll need to know how to reset a Kindle Fire – and it’s easier than you think.
However, backing up and deleting a Kindle Fire is not for the faint of heart. Everything you’ve downloaded on the device, including books, movies, TV series, apps, and games, will be erased if you perform a factory reset. The good news is that your purchases are synchronized to Amazon’s servers, so you won’t have to buy goods twice. However, back up your data before you begin to avoid losing it.
Fortunately, successfully resetting a Kindle Fire is impossible; you must be careful. Here are all the precautions you should take before cleaning it permanently.
The Kindle Fire automatically saves personal settings, notes, search history, conversations, call history, and bookmarks in Amazon’s Silk browser. Any music, movies, TV episodes, applications, and books you’ve purchased are instantly linked to your Amazon account and may be accessed via the Cloud menu on the Kindle Fire.
Before you begin, ensure that your Kindle Fire is up to date. Check to see if it is backing up your account data:
Step 1: From the top of the screen, swipe down and select Settings.
Step 2: Select Device Options, then Backup & Restore.
Step 3: Enable the Device Backup option by switching it on.
When your Kindle Fire is sleeping and connected to Wi-Fi, it will back up your account data to Amazon’s distant servers once daily. You may also initiate a backup manually by selecting Back Up Now. Amazon claims backup data is kept for at least a year but advises that turning off the automatic backup option by selecting the Disable Backup button would erase any data presently linked with your device.
