Who is Jesus of Nazareth? Was He merely a prophet, a teacher, or a good man or is He truly God in the flesh?

Through Scripture, history, and doctrine, this book uncovers the undeniable truth about the divine identity of Jesus Christ. This book provides a clear, biblical, and Spirit-led defense of Jesus as not just a man from Galilee, but the incarnate Son of God, approved by the Father and prefered over law and prophets.

With clarity and conviction, this book explores:

  • The prophetic revelations of Jesus as the Messiah
  • God's prefrence of Him over the law of Moses and the Prophets of old
  • How he gained God's approval and became the only begotten of the Father
  • Apostolic witness and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit as divine affirmation of His deity
  • Why the deity of Christ matters for your salvation and eternal hope
This is more than theology, it is the heartbeat of the Christian faith to understand who Jesus of Nazareth is. Whether you are a believer seeking deeper understanding, a skeptic searching for truth, or a pastor preparing to teach on Christ's identity, Jesus of Nazareth will equip you with the truth that transforms lives.

This book also contain the Passion of Jesus Christ, His Seven Spoken Words on the cross and its significance to our Christian living.

Jesus wasn’t just approved by men—He was approved by God. And that changes everything.

INTRODUCTION

[5] For to which of the angels did He ever say: “You are My Son, Today I have begotten You”? And again: “I will be to Him a Father, And He shall be to Me a Son”? Hebrews 1:5 NKJV

Throughout creation from Genesis, up to the time Jesus was born, God never referred to anyone as His son including angels.

You will understand that before Jesus of Nazareth, there have been men and women who walked with God and yet did not receive the kind of endorsement that Jesus got when He showed up at the bank of river Jordan.

In the family of Adam, Abel was called a righteous man, Enoch walked with God till God took him, Abraham walked with God and became blameless, Moses was like a god to the people of Israel from Egypt to Canaan, and so on and so forth, but none of these men did God acknowledge as His son.

Why did God prefer Jesus of Nazareth over men that have served his purpose on the earth? Why did God not choose angel Michael or Uriah or Gabriel or any of the angels? What special did Jesus of Nazareth do to gain God's approval as His son? All these we will consider in this book.

Another important fact to take note of is that Jesus was the subject of discovery of those men who came before Him, let start with Abel;

[4] Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the Lord respected Abel and his offering, Genesis 4:4 NKJV

If there is one lesson Abel learned from his father Adam that Cain did not learn, it is that without the shedding of blood, there will be no remission of sin, so the firstborn of his flock which he chose for sacrifice is symbolic to God's choice of Jesus, His first and only begotten Son.

[7] But Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, “My father!” And he said, “Here I am, my son.” Then he said, “Look, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” [8] And Abraham said, “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.” So the two of them went together. Genesis 22:7-8 NKJV

Abraham knew that Jesus will be the sacrifice required of him by God and because Jesus was not available then, he took Isaac yet believed that God will provide Himself (Jesus) for the sacrifice.

[22] Then you shall say to Pharaoh, ‘Thus says the Lord: “Israel is My son, My firstborn. [23] So I say to you, let My son go that he may serve Me. But if you refuse to let him go, indeed I will kill your son, your firstborn.” Exodus 4:22-23 NKJV

Moses was able to carry out God's assignment because he knew that Israel is a type of Jesus: God firstborn and God’s choice. Thus, the exodus experience is the death burial and resurrection of Jesus for the course of redemption.

Just as exodus is redemption from bondage for Israel, so is Christ death and resurrection our exodus from sin and death.

[1] Then Naomi her mother-in-law said to her, “My daughter, shall I not seek security for you, that it may be well with you? Ruth 3:1 NKJV

Naomi knew by faith that the only security guarantee for our well-being is Jesus. Just as Boaz the kinsman- redeemer was recommended for the redemption of Ruth, so is Jesus recommended for the redemption of the whole world for anyone who believes.

[1] Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered. [2] Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity, And in whose spirit there is no deceit. Psalms 32:1-2 NKJV

David knew by prophecy and spoke boldly that our sin and transgression will be covered (forgiven) in Jesus Christ. And today, that prophecy is the reality of the believer.

Time will fail me to talk about Esther, Barak, Gideon, Samson, Rahab the harlot, Joshua, Samuel, Isaiah, Sarah, and all the men and women who through faith in Jesus Christ obtained a good report.

Their world were framed by the word of God; one common denominator in their world is Jesus Christ. Yet they did not obtain the promise, yet none of them was called God's son. What then is so special about Jesus that God has called Him His beloved son?

CHAPTER ONE

Jesus of Nazareth UNDER THE LAW AND PROPHETS

[5] For to which of the angels did He ever say: “You are My Son, Today I have begotten You”? And again: “I will be to Him a Father, And He shall be to Me a Son”? Hebrews 1:5 NKJV

There was never a change of plan in God's agenda on the earth, and God did not at any time change His mind, and He will never change His mind concerning His eternal plan for mankind.

Jesus has been in the bosom of the Father from Genesis and He has been the subject of inquiry by the law and prophets. The law and prophets were made solely for Him and He is the fulfilment of them all, that is why in Christ Jesus, the believer have no law to observe and have no prophet outside Jesus to listen to.

We can safely say that the entire scriptures (Genesis to Malachi) is Christ centered. Whenever we read the scriptures, we are careful to uncover Christ from the shadows. Look at what Brother Paul told Timothy concerning the scriptures:

[15] and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. II Timothy 3:15 NKJV

To know and understand God, you must first know Him from the Holy Scriptures, the end product of the Holy Scriptures is Christ which is our salvation.
