JOP - DOES NOT LIE IN BED ALL DAY

This e-book, "Jop - Does not Lie in Bed all Day", is the second e-book written by Chris Opperman.

Jop is a lone adventurer who decided to tour the South African country in search of action and adventure. With his faithful old Toyota car, he embarks on a long journey and visits various interesting places along the way. Of course, things don't always go smoothly, and at times he has to use his fists or make a strategic retreat to avoid unnecessary trouble. And naturally, he has an eye for beautiful women and they can't resist him at all. But Jop doesn't complain about that.

Feel free to read the collection of short stories about JOP and his escapades as he explores the country. Some of the events are based on true stories and experiences by the author himself. This e-book is therefore a delightful read, best enjoyed with a steaming cup of coffee and some rusks.

THE AUTHOR

Christiaan Rudolph Opperman was born in 1942 in Pretoria but spent his growing-up years in Florida, West Rand, where he also matriculated at Florida High School. He then obtained his BCom. Acc. degree from the University of Pretoria and also qualified as a chartered accountant and auditor.

He was a skilled tennis player, a good marksman, and an above-average snooker player. He spent twenty years working in the financial sector for large companies in Johannesburg and Pretoria before moving to Vryburg, where he practiced his own business as an accountant and auditor.

He spent twenty years in Vryburg, where he eventually became the Mayor. After that, he moved to Somerset West, where he opened his own restaurant. In the year 2000, he retired and currently resides in Gordon’s Bay.

He is married to Rina van der Merwe. They have been together for 58 years, both fine and healthy, and have two children, one of whom has passed away.

Idleness led him to pick up the pen, and then he discovered that he had quite a skill with words. These stories about the character Jop revolve around the adventures of a wanderer who travels the country with his Toyota vehicle, experiencing one interesting adventure after another. Some of the stories are mostly based on the writer’s own experiences, while others are purely fictional tales that anyone can associate with and enjoy.

JOP - DOES NOT LIE IN BED ALL DAY

CHAPTER 1

Jop is my name, especially when my father asks if I’ve done my homework but Jopie when my mother asks if she can help me with my homework.

I grew up as Jop in the army, where I spent two years in a special unit learning various techniques for a contact situation. I was special. Slightly taller than the average man, broad shoulders, slim hips, and athletic legs. Women immediately liked me.

Special also means deadly like a sac spider. If I caught up with you, it was already too late. After two years, I went to university, where I became an accountant of all things.

But maths wasn’t my strong suit, so I hit the road in search of adventure.

Anyway, after three days, my first encounter with a female left me, leaving only a note on our motel’s bed pillow. You physically exhausted me, even though I must admit, you’re something else, Jop. I half-expected it, though, as I was a bit tired in the buttocks myself.
