Beschreibung

In a world where language feels increasingly worthless, one indie poet dares to ask: "Just What a Word's Worth?"
Forget the fleeting chat and the shallow scroll. This ebook is a turbulent, thrilling ride into the heart of what it means to be alive, to connect, and to confront the terrifying unknown. From the electrifying pulse of shared humanity to the chilling, insect-ridden horror under a crimson sky, and from the desperate battle against insomnia to the ultimate, ironic twist of fate, these poems defy boundaries.
You'll encounter dancing cats and demons, find solace in nature, and face down existential dread – all delivered with a unique blend of dark humour, sharp observation, and unbridled imagination. If you're ready for poetry that doesn't just entertain but penetrates and provokes, then crack open this collection. It's a must-read that proves, much like William Wordsworth himself showed us, the true power of language is worth every single moment.

About the Author

Just What a Word’s Worth.

Educated

Sat down

Frowned upon

Chalk dust

Sneezing

Handwriting

Unbelieving

S and F

No difference

Confused and distant

Don’t know

What a word’s worth

History or

Geography

Mixed in

To chemistry

The day a blur

The bullies wait

Homework

Too much

Life is not great

And a little brain

Memory stick

With gigabytes of space

Cannot fathom out

This human race

And words are only

Cryptic problems

Unrelated to that

Choice of life

That could be

But lying on the bed

Or settee

Dreaming of being a rock star

Or some actor

And the days

Fly by

Ever so faster

And all the time

We don’t know

What a word is worth

In this day and age

Words are mutilated

Abbreviated

Slanged off

Slashed to bits

Until there is

No meaning to it

And when words

Have no meaning

And we’re too lazy

To reply

Bored with messaging

But we don’t know why

We send little yellow

Faces in different

Expressions

Emoticons are the new rage

In this wordless age

And money is made

From gifs and the animated

When two words would do

But in this day

Of super technology

We still don’t know

What a word is worth

Paper and pen

Back to the start again

Not a messy quill

Just Bic and ink in plastic

Miracles can be made

In black and white

After midnight

Demon thoughts

Are set alight

So imaginary

We let the lines flow

And show the world

What a word is worth

And we scorn the new age

Where books are burned for fuel

Where authors have sweated

Tormented

Bringing you new stories

So cool

And now we discard

Everything that needs intelligence

To dissect

To entertain

Our muted brains

And when we open a book

Our eyes light up again

Digesting words we have forgotten

Laughing at old jokes

Alighting embers in our brains

With our hands full of soot

And days like these

Are glorious days

As we gobbled down information

In a delightful way

Or real or fantasy

Or evil or good

Reading a paragraph

Creates intelligence in the blood

That flows

Like a good story

And the world turns

Back to the good times

And the world will see

How good you were to me

Bringing me smiles

Being happy

Since my birth

I only wanted to know

Just what a word is worth.
