Just What A Word's Worth

This book is dedicated to all the furry creatures that live under my roof, mainly Elisa and our two cats Spook and Gizmo, but I am sure in some dark corner or deep crevice there is something watching and teasing me, this book is for all of you!BookRix GmbH & Co. KG81371 Munich

Just What a Word’s Worth.

  Educated,

Sat down,

Frowned upon,

Chalk dust,

Sneezing,

Hand writing,

Unbelieving,

S and F,

No difference,

Confused and distant,

Don’t know,

What a word’s worth,

History or,

Geography,

Mixed in,

To chemistry,

The day a blur,

The bullies wait,

Homework,

Too much,

Life is not great,

And a little brain,

Memory stick,

With gigabytes of space,

Cannot fathom out,

This human race,

And words are only,

Cryptic problems,

Unrelated to that,

Choice of life,

That could be,

But laying on the bed,

Or settee,

Dreaming of being a rock star,

Or some actor,

And the days,

Fly by,

Ever so faster,

And all the time,

We don’t know,

What a word is worth,

In this day and age,

Words are mutilated,

Abbreviated,

Slanged off,

Slashed to bits,

Until there is,

No meaning to it,

And when words,

Have no meaning,

And we’re too lazy,

To reply,

Bored with messaging,

But we don’t know why,

We send little yellow,

Faces in different,

Expressions,

Emoticons are the new rage,

In this wordless age,

And money is made,

From gifs and the animated,

When two words would do,

But in this day,

Of super technology,

We still don’t know,

What a word is worth,

Paper and pen,

Back to the start again,

Not a messy quill,

Just bic and ink in plastic,

Miracles can be made,

In black and white,

After midnight,

Demon thoughts,

Are set alight,

So imaginary,

We let the lines flow,

And show the world,

What a word is worth,

And we scorn the new age,

Where books are burned for fuel,

Where authors have sweated,

Tormented,

Bringing you new stories,

So cool,

And now we discard,

Everything that needs intelligence,

To dissect,

To entertain,

Our muted brains,

And when we open a book,

Our eyes light up again,

Digesting words we have forgotten,

Laughing at old jokes,

Alighting embers in our brains,

With our hands full of soot,

And days like these,

Are glorious days,

As we gobbled down information,

In a delightful way,

Or real or fantasy,

Or evil or good,

Reading a paragraph,

Creates intelligence in the blood,

That flows,

Like a good story,

And the world turns,

Back to the good times,

And the world will see,

How good you were to me,

Bringing me smiles,

Being happy,

Since my birth,

I only wanted to know,

Just what a word is worth.

She.

  It was the brightest day,

Wrapped in warmth and sun,

He was a knight in shining armour,

Sat upon a loyal mare,

His day was done he was free to roam,

So he wandered under the sun’s rays,

He did not see any threat,

As the day was blue and calm,

He was relaxed with his guard down,

He was only hours from home,

Then from out of the blue,

From over the mountain range,

Hissed a wind so fierce,

It blew in a wicked storm,

Full of thunder in the belly,

The lightening started to pierce,

As the carefully woven day,

Fell about so quickly,

Now all was black as night,

His loyal mare got jittery,

And as the wind howled,

And the thunder roared,

That lightning bolt,

Was the final straw,

His horse reared up,

He found some way to hold on,

It bolted into the deep dark forest,

Spooked by the brutal summer storm,

The undergrowth was thick and knotted,

Vines whipped at the horses flesh,

Grasping his sword in his hand,

He tried to slice a better way through,
