What exactly is a Pighorn?

Have you ever flipped through an animal book looking for a Pighorn? I bet you didn't find one! That's because Pighorns are very special and rare creatures that live deep in the vastness of the African savannah.

But if you close your eyes and turn on your imagination, you can easily picture what they look like.

Imagine a small, round, and cheerful little domestic pig. It has funny little floppy ears, a real socket-like nose for booping, and of course, a curly tail that wags happily back and forth when it's excited.

And now, give this friendly little pig two things from its big, strong friend, the rhinoceros:

First, a thick, protective skin that's almost like a little suit of armor, protecting it from sunburn and prickly twigs.

And then, most importantly, a tiny but strong horn right in the middle of its nose!

And there you have it – the Pighorn!

Pighorns are the friendliest animals you can imagine. They are gentle, curious, and love to enjoy a good scratch against the trees. But when their friends or family are in danger, the courage of a rhinoceros awakens in them, and they can be incredibly strong.
