THE DOG AND THE WOLF

A wolf once surprised a sleeping dog before the door of a courtyard.

“What do you want?” Cried the dog, as soon as it woke up.

“I am hungry. And I want you for my supper.” Replied the wolf.

The dog laughed and asked: “Why don't you wait for next week, when my master's son will get married? There will be a big party and my master will give me a lot of food; then if you still want to eat me, it will be better than now.”

The wolf was happy with this idea and returned to the wood. After a week, it came back to the courtyard and found the awaking dog.

“You are not fatter than before. Is the master's son married?” Said the wolf.

And the dog answered: “Marriage or no marriage, you will never surprise me again while sleeping.”
