Loulan Is Missing
prologue or interlude in Yuan dynasty drama
In the five hundred years from the 3rd century BC to the 4th century AD, the vast expanse of the Chinese land gave birth to a mysterious country ---- Shanshan.
Shanshan, originally known as Loulan, has a history of nomadic pastoralism, cantonment agriculture, animal husbandry and fishing (with small-scale fishing villages). The Silk Road in the Han Dynasty was divided into two. Loulan was located at the throat of the North-South Silk Road, carrying the mission of promoting cultural exchanges between the East and the West, and then wrote a brilliant epic of civilization.
In the fourth year of Yuanfeng of the Western Han Dynasty (77 B.C.), King An Guijia of Loulan was assassinated by the Han envoy Fu Jiezi, and his younger brother, Yutu Jie, plotted to usurp the throne of Loulan and changed Loulan to Shanshan. Upon assuming the throne, Yutu Jie immediately formed a loyal guard, and then secretly opened the tomb of An Gui Jia's wife, Queen Guang Yue. In the tomb, he stumbled upon a dark passage leading down to the Peacock River, where a huge underground shrine was hidden. In the temple, there was a cursed "holy water" enshrined, and he immediately ordered all the soldiers of the guards to drink the "holy water". At that moment, a soul whistle came from the dark tunnel, and Queen Mitsuki descended from the sky wearing a feathered veil.
In 1227, Genghis Khan fell ill while conquering Western Xia. Before his death, he sent an army to the ancient city of Loulan, which had been deserted for nearly nine hundred years, and buried a huge treasure there. At the same time, this army also mysteriously disappeared in Loulan. Afterwards, some people say, this treasure is a generation of heavenly pride for the Mongols later encountered a crisis and specially prepared. Some people say that the treasure and the tomb of Genghis Khan has a close relationship, the army mysteriously disappeared into the tomb keeper for generations.
In the past, the ancient city of Loulan could be said to be "camel bells, merchants gathered", but now it is "continuous desert, water and grass are not". What is the reason for the mysterious demise of this great ancient civilization? Is it the lack of water, war, plague, or unknown conspiracy at work? In the sixteen hundred years since it faded from the stage of history, no one has been able to unravel its mystery.
It was not until the early 20th century that the famous Swedish explorer Sven Hedin discovered this thousand-year-old city during a geological expedition. Sven Hedin in the early 20th century, the famous Swedish explorer in a geological expedition inadvertently discovered this thousand-year-old city. Since then, this kingdom, which is more desolate than hell, has become a paradise for countless adventurers. The last pure land of human beings to nourish civilization became famous all over the world overnight.
After much life and death, Sven Hedin. Hedin finally discovers a huge treasure in a sun tomb. He and his Uyghur guide, Eldik, are pursued by a group of mysterious tomb guards. In desperation, he tattoos a treasure map on Eldik's back. When Eldik is killed by the tomb-keepers during his escape, he cuts off the flesh of Eldik's back with a knife.
In the late stage of the Anti-Japanese War, the Japanese cultural relics looting organization, Tomodachi, went crazy in the name of archaeology to steal and dig up Chinese cultural relics. This time, they chose the deserted ancient city of Loulan as a target for looting. Sven. Hedin heard the news, very shocked, he strongly appealed to the United States and China to jointly establish an archaeological team, immediately went to Loulan rescue excavations. To this end, he gave up his love, will hide the secret of the treasure of the human skin map free of charge to the archaeological team. However, the plane of the archaeological team crashed in the middle of the journey and fell into the heavy siege of the Japanese army. The Kuomintang and the Communist Party immediately reached an agreement to form a Falcon Contingent to head to the crash site to start the rescue.
At the same time, in order to develop a new type of bacteria suitable for desert and jungle warfare, Unit 731 of the Japanese Kwantung Army secretly sent an experimental team to the ancient city of Loulan to conduct tests. The International Anti-Fascist Alliance also assigned a female reporter to join the Sino-American joint archaeological team and let her accompany the team to Loulan to secretly collect detailed information about this new type of bacteria code-named "7311".
Dr. Xia Molin is the Chinese representative of the Sino-US joint archaeological team, and he has a mysterious diary in his hand. Back then, after the Japanese Sixth Division captured Nanjing and created the shocking Nanjing Massacre, many senior officials of the National Government were terrified and ostensibly embraced anti-Japanese resistance, but secretly colluded with the Japanese. His Japanese friend Hirakawa Tanino was serving as a senior general of the Sixth Division at that time, so he secretly wrote down the names of many senior officials of the National Government in this diary, as well as the evidence of their "treason to the enemy". Later, Hirakawa Tanino was captured by the Eighth Route Army in a battle, and soon died of depression. Before he died, he gave this diary to him and told him to keep it. At the end of the war, the Japanese army was losing ground, and seeing that their dream of "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere" was about to be shattered, they even wanted to use this diary to force some senior officials of the national government to give in. In order to get the diary, the Japanese military intelligence agency sent spies into the Sino-American joint archaeological team, waiting for an opportunity to seize the diary. At the same time, the threatened senior officials of the National Government sent elite soldiers to look around for the whereabouts of the diary, the Eighth Route Army also intervened, an intricate and dangerous espionage war has begun.
The contingent escorted the archaeological team and finally arrived at the ancient city of Loulan after a lot of hardships. They followed the instructions on the human skin map and finally found the mysterious Sun Tomb. Our story begins here ......
The moon of Loulan looked as if it had been painted with ink, and the darkness of the night was shrouded in terror; at the third hour, the wind and sand stopped whimpering, and the earth became as silent as death. At the foot of a dune in the distance, two men with white hair were whispering.
"Doctor, the treasure is buried in an ancient tomb under the dunes, and we will leave at first light."
"Professor, are you reconsidering?"
"Don't waste your time, man. The treasure map is from Sven. Hedin gave it to me, and he's the world's greatest explorer."
"It's better to be cautious."
......
Dr. Summerlin wore a black Chinese mountain suit and a pair of wide-rimmed glasses, with kind brows and elegant manners, and the scholarly temperament of an Oriental man naturally flowed from his body. Prof. James was clad in black clerical garments and wore a cross on his chest, and this devout Westerner always maintained a characteristic gentlemanly demeanor.
As the two core figures of the Sino-US joint archaeological team, they know that this operation is a matter of great importance, and in order to maintain confidentiality, they have to call each other by their code names.
Now, they were each holding an exquisitely crafted brocade box in their hands. The ornate external decoration of the box constantly evoked the desire to open it. Dr. Summerlin took out a candle from his backpack and lit it, the candlelight swaying in the wind. Prof. James first opened the box in his hand and took out a linen-like folded object from it. He carefully unfolded it, and through the faint candlelight, it turned out to be a map of human skin that had been embalmed!
The map was densely covered with black dots, as if they had been pricked on with needles, and the black dots were arranged in an orderly manner, forming a treasure hunting route. In addition, there were many red circles drawn on the map, which should be important markers for finding the treasure.
Professor James stared at the human skin map repeatedly with a grave expression. The index finger of his right hand gently slid on the map and finally settled on a place marked with a red cross. Then, Dr. Summerlin also placed his right index finger on it. At that moment, the two men's deep eyes locked together almost simultaneously, both with a wry smile on their faces.
Afterwards, Dr. Xia Molin opened the brocade box in his hand and took out an old diary from it. The blue cover of the diary was stained with bloodstains, which seemed to be telling people about an unforgivable past. He gently stroked the diary with his wrinkled hand, his five fingers trembled as if they were not under the control of his body, and his eyes were like two ancient wells, deep and psychedelic. Professor James clearly saw that Dr. Summerlin's eyes were full of tears, and as the cold wind blew, his vision was completely blurred.
Dr. Summerlin dug a sand pit in the ground with a portable shovel and buried the diary in the box. He moved a few stones from the neighborhood and pressed them on top of the sand pit, counting them as markers, so that he could come back later to retrieve the box. Loulan night wind is very strong, freezing people shivering, Professor James to the palm of the breath and rub his hands, said: "man, I think you'd better bring the box with you. Loulan's ghost weather has betrayed us, this place may be covered by the desert at any time, when you come back to look for the box, it will be like looking for a needle in a haystack, you have to think about it."
"Thank you for your kind words, I had no choice but to do this. We already have Japanese spies mixed in with our ranks, even the Defense Ministry has taken action, and maybe agents from the Central and Military Units are slipping under our noses. This diary has swallowed up too many innocent lives, I don't want it to plague the earth again." Dr. Xia Molin looked up to the sky and sighed, his words containing endless sadness.
Professor James saw that it was almost dawn, and after comforting Xia Molin for a few more moments, the two of them packed up their belongings and headed to the camp together.
An August day in 1944.
The dark eastern sky is gradually showing fish-belly white, the mysterious land of Loulan in a burst of gunfire to say goodbye to the Lord of the Week.
On the Gobi Beach, twenty kilometers from the southern bank of the Peacock River, a group of exhausted soldiers slept with their backs to each other. On their tattered uniforms, sand and blood stains blend together, as if they were telling people about a battle that was so grueling that it was unimaginable.
Suddenly, a magnificent figure appeared in the middle of the soldiers. He was clad in white armor, with a cold and shining ghost head saber standing beside him, his vicissitudes of life were written all over his face with rigidity, and his deep eyes were staring tightly at a sand dune not far away. This person is precisely the company commander of the Falcon contingent Song Qiankun. No one knows why this big man in Shandong is dressed as an ancient sergeant, but he has an appropriate code name "General".
After an unknown amount of time, Song Qiankun sat down next to a fire, the bonfire had long been extinguished, and the embers were still smoldering. He casually picked up a piece of charcoal with sparks, lit a cigarette and leisurely inhaled it. At this time, he was surrounded by five more people.
There were four men and one woman among the five: a handsome young officer, a beautiful young foreign female reporter, a dark-skinned soldier, an old man in his sixties, and a twelve- or thirteen-year-old boy. The five are Xiao Jun, the instructor of the contingent, codenamed "Xiu Cai"; Bonnie, the special reporter of the Sino-American Joint Archaeological Team, codenamed "Fireworks"; Hu Shan, the gunner and deminer of the contingent, codenamed "Carpenter"; the Uyghur guide, codenamed "Carpenter"; and the Uyghur guide, codenamed "Carpenter". "Carpenter"; and Uyghur guide Mr. Garen and his young grandson, Dada Waka.
"General, the doctor and the professor have been gone for so long and haven't returned yet, they won't run into any trouble, right?" Xiao Jun said to Song Qiankun.
"Company Commander, let me go on, before I was a soldier, I have poured buckets, if there is really a mound under the dune, I will know it with a Luoyang shovel." Hu Shan also couldn't wait to express his thoughts.
"Wait a little longer." Song Qiankun glanced at the duo, his face devoid of any expression.
As the sun scuttled above the horizon, Dr. Xia Molin and Professor James, the two leaders of the Sino-American joint archaeological team, hurried back to the camp.
"Doctor, Professor, are you two okay?" Bonnie looked a little worried as she saw the two of them panting.
Professor James gave Bonnie a grateful look and turned to Song Qiankun, "Your Excellency General, I have to say that the ancient tomb and treasure are buried under the dune, and the Japanese have already begun to close in on the dune, so we must take action immediately."
Song Qiankun pondered for a moment and turned his gaze to Dr. Xia Molin, who nodded acquiescently.
"Depart!" Song Qiankun gave the order, and the contingent and the archaeological team headed straight for the dunes, they were only one step away from their destination.
Before, the contingent escorted the archaeological team, on the one hand, to try to break through the Japanese army's siege, on the other hand, but also to do their best to find the whereabouts of the treasure, a huge panic shrouded in the heart of each team member. Song Qiankun knows that this action is important, everyone in the team in addition to the code name, but also must strictly keep secrets. He even learned from the Ministry of Defense that the team had been mixed with Japanese spies. Even worse, the team had run out of food and water three days ago, which was much more frightening than facing death directly.
Papa Kallen did not move an inch from Song Qiankun's left and right these days, carefully explaining the history of Loulan to him. He was very satisfied with this guide, but he always felt that this old herdsman who looked a bit mute was not that simple, as for where it was wrong, he could not make sense of it for a while.
Rather, it was Papa Kallen's grandson, Dada Waka, who would catch Song Qiankun's attention from time to time. At this moment, one of this teenager's hands was being held by his grandfather, while the other hand had a death grip on the little thumb of Song Qiankun's left hand. He looked disheveled and depressed, with fear in his eyes, always with a sickly look.
"Papa Kallen, how come I haven't seen your precious grandson speak on this journey, and his spirit isn't good either, could it be that he's sick?" Song Qiankun couldn't help but ask.
Father Karen felt a hint of uneasiness and said sadly, "Alas ...... I won t hide it from the officer, I have a selfish intention to be your guide this time. When Dada Vaka was three years old, he suddenly got a strange disease, and his body was often weak and feeble, and he was listless all day long, and then he simply became deaf and mute. The old men in the fortress said that only the 'holy water' given by the Goddess of Light and Moon could cure this strange disease. Over the years, I finally learned through many inquiries that the 'holy water' of the Goddess of the Light Moon is hidden in the ancient tomb you are looking for."
Then, Papa Kallen told the crowd an old legend.
Legend has it that a long time ago, the king of Loulan, An Guijia, fled to Tianshan Tianchi to escape from the Huns and fell in love with a beautiful girl, Dora Tuguli, who lived there. Tuguli. Their union was immediately opposed by the Abroli family. One night, Dora. Tuguli took advantage of the clan's inattention, stole the clan's sacred blood lotus seed, and resolutely followed Anguijia back to the ancient city of Loulan. Later, she cured the plague in Loulan with the "holy water" made from the seeds of the blood lotus, and was named Queen of the Light Moon by Anguijia. Later, Anguijia's brother, Yutu Jie, who coveted the beauty of Queen Guangyue, collaborated with the Han envoy Fu Jiezi to assassinate the king of Loulan. After the death of his brother, Yutu Jie wanted to take over Queen Guangyue, but Queen Guangyue refused to obey and threw herself into the Peacock River to die. That night, the house where the body of Queen Guangyue was kept suddenly caught fire. At that moment, snow fell from the sky, extinguishing the blazing fire, and countless ants swarmed towards the house....... The next day, the body of Queen Mitsuki disappeared! Since then, some people said that heaven took away the soul of the Queen of the Light Moon and her "holy water", and made her the Goddess of the Light Moon. Others say that although the Queen of the Light Moon ascended to the Immortal World, she did not take the "holy water" with her, but buried it in her own tomb. If anyone truly worships the Goddess of Light and Moon, he will get the "holy water". It is said that the "holy water" can cure all kinds of diseases and bring people back from the dead, and drinking it can make you live forever.
This legend had been passed down for more than two thousand years in the Fortress of the Light Moon, where Papa Kallen had lived for generations, and he was naturally convinced of it.
Chapter III. The Tomb of the Sun
The beautifully romantic legend dictated by Papa Kallen leads to a fight between Jack, an American pilot, and Anna, a research assistant to Professor James.
"Goddess? Athena or Venus? And what's with the 'holy water', the hell with this nonsense."
"It's just a legend, why are you so excited, what an idiot!"
"You antique woman, how dare you call a senior American pilot an idiot, when I was awarded the Medal of Honor by Congress."
"Really? Your Excellency seems to be more of a tongue chewer than a flyer of airplanes, why don't you go run for President? You crazy bastard!"
......
"Okay two, stop arguing, I think you know the purpose of this trip better than I do." Bonnie's words, immediately hit the dead center of the two, finally put down a "war" without smoke.
It was close to noon when the contingent and the archaeological team reached the foot of the dunes.
The sun is scorching the earth, the team's clothes have been drenched in sweat many times, and a thin layer of salt has formed on them, which is itchy and painful on the skin. At night, the night sandstorms, cold air, people can not sleep. Loulan west near the Taklamakan Desert, there is a famous local proverb "early wear leather jacket afternoon wear yarn, around the stove to eat watermelon", is a true portrayal of this strange weather.
The dune is more than 30 meters high, the appearance is not a bare piece, on the contrary, it looks strange and spectacular. Surrounding the dune are seven layers of thin and thick logs. Poplar stakes from the inside out, thick and thin in order. Outside the circle, there are radiating four sides of the column of wood, the whole shape is like a sun. Around the dunes are also sporadically distributed six or seven small dunes, above the poplar stakes full of also put out the shape of the sun. Seven or eight tombs with the timber logs up to tens of thousands of roots!
Such a bizarre and extravagant burial form, challenging the limits of human vision, can not help but make people question: is it possible that there was once a primitive forest in the ancient Loulan in the past?
"This is the Tomb of the Sun!" Papa Kallen shouted to the crowd, pointing at the dunes, his voice shaking with unconcealed excitement.
A shell exploded at the foot of the dune, and the earth seemed to crumble instantly, lifting the yellow sand like a flailing demon pouncing on the contingent and the archaeological team ......
An aura-shaped soldier weaved his way through the artillery fire, shouting as he ran, "The ghosts are coming! The devils are coming!"
Wang Ye was a communications soldier of the Falcon Contingent. In the life-and-death situation of fighting with the Japanese, he could always accurately convey the orders of the company headquarters to each combat platoon. The information he intercepted from the enemy was also as if it was tailor-made, for which the company commander Song Qiankun gave him an interesting code name "Tailor".
"Xiu Cai, you lead the contingent to block the brats, the archaeological team stay put!" Song Qiankun gave combat orders to Xiao Jun, then turned to Hu Shan and said, "Carpenter, you and Doggie bring the Luoyang shovel and follow me up the dunes!"
The sand dunes are filled with poplar stakes, making them a good shelter from Japanese stray bullets. Hu Shan and Dog Zi are both from Henan Province, both come from a family of inverters, and together they have stolen a lot of tombs of the Shang and Zhou dynasties in Anyang. They quickly used a Luoyang shovel to measure a notched circle along the top edge of the dune. Years of experience in dumping told them that the circle was still expanding beyond the dune, which was undoubtedly a huge tomb, and there were no round tombs in the more advanced civilization of the Central Plains. What surprised them even more was that the layered soil dug up by the Luoyang shovel contained crushed stones, which indicated that there was a large amount of clay beneath the yellow sand and that there was a high probability that there were stone-sealed burial chambers.
When he had just entered the ancient city of Loulan, Hu Shan had tried to dig a few small tombs in order to understand the burial form of the Loulan people. Most of them were shallowly buried and covered with only a thin layer of yellow sand. The coffins were made of wood, mostly created by digging out the center part of the poplar trunk. Inside the coffins are beetles like bedbugs and cockroaches, and the outside is wrapped in layers of cowhide or burlap, which provides excellent antiseptic effects. Now suddenly found a stone-sealed tomb buried deep in the ground, really made him excited.
This sun tomb is hidden in the dunes, and the thickness of the yellow sand on the surface reaches as much as five meters. If the traditional inverted bucket method was used to dig the robber's hole first, the quicksand would soon block the robber's hole. For this reason, Hu Shan and Dog Zi first used the Luoyang shovel to determine the location of the circular tomb gap, where the tomb door should be located. Then, Hu Shan fixed several explosive packets in different directions of the gap location, and detonated at the same time. This served to avoid the flow of yellow sand after blasting, again annihilating the tomb door.
Song Qiankun and Dogzi held shovels and quickly cleared a tomb door at the place where the blasting had taken place. The exquisite and realistic stone carvings on the tomb door instantly attracted the eyes of the three. Carved on it is neither a guardian god nor a warrior holding a weapon, but a beautiful goddess clad in a feather veil. Her face is pure and beautiful, holding a bouquet of snow lotuses in her hands, her feet stepping on auspicious clouds, floating up to the immortal world. Behind her is a towering snowy peak, snowy peak in front of a half-moon shaped lake, the lake is like a mirror ......
Hu Shan's brain was like an instantaneous flash of lightning, and he could not help but shiver. He immediately recalled the legend about the Goddess of the Light Moon, then looked at the vivid depiction on the stone carvings, and a cloud of doubt immediately rose in his heart: could this be the tomb of the Queen of the Light Moon?
Fang Yanyun, a special agent of the National Government, is the official head of the joint Chinese-American archaeological team. From the time Dr. Xia Molin and Professor James joined hands, to the subsequent plane crash, to today's setting foot on the land of Loulan, she has never left the archaeological team by half a step.
"Doctor, Professor, the General and the others seem to have discovered something, we are supposed to be witnesses to the opening of the ancient tomb, but now we are hiding here as rats, don't you think it's ridiculous?" Fang Yanyun was dressed in military attire, using binoculars to observe every move on the dunes, a few hints of flirtatiousness coming out from her cold exterior.
Professor James shrugged and posed as if he didn't care, while Dr. Summerlin remained silent.
"Go up and take a look." At this time, a black shadow flashed out from behind Dr. Xia Molin, and the icy voice that sounded like the evil ghosts of hell as they laughed was emitted from the black shadow.
When the black shadow stabilized his figure, the crowd could only see half of his face, he was dressed in black, and all above his eyes were hidden in the shadows under the round hat. A pair of narrow eyes under the bangs had streams of light flashing from time to time, and the ice-cold aura that naturally flowed from his body was chilling. His name was Xia Linghao, the nephew and research assistant of Dr. Xia Molin, and likewise a mysterious and unpredictable detective. The team didn't understand his strange behavior, not to mention his true origins, and all called him "Ghost Shadow" in awe.
"The old man also agrees to go up and have a look, always staying here is not a solution." Old Man Kallen stared at the "ghostly shadow", then looked down and stroked Dhadavarka's head, "This child is so pitiful, I hope the 'holy water' is hidden in that ancient tomb."
Eventually, the archaeological team and their group ran up the dunes.
The tomb door is made of a block of green stone, thickness of half a meter, and with the masonry of the tomb room closely bite together, as the saying goes, "pulling one hair affects the whole body", even if there is a thousand pounds of force will be difficult to open it. Usually this kind of tomb door is a mechanism, the dog repeatedly check, will focus on the tomb door on the left and right of the two stone ring.
"Company Commander, the mystery is on the stone ring, I'll open the tomb door now." The dog said confidently, and then he was about to make a move to grab the stone ring.
"Slow down!" A loud shout from Old Man Kallen caused the dog's hands to stop in mid-air, he raised a trembling hand and pointed at the stone carvings on the door of the tomb, "This is indeed the tomb of the Light Moon Queen, the door of the tomb has been placed with witchcraft by a great sorcerer, planting the most vile curses, it must not be touched!"
When Papa Karen said this, all the people looked at each other. Questioning, panic, anxiety ...... various gazes entangled together.
Compulsion, according to legend, is a kind of poisonous insect cultivated artificially. Putting parasites is a mysterious witchcraft inherited from ancient China, and the most legendary one is Miao parasites. Ancient people believed that parasites have mysterious and unpredictable nature and great toxicity, so it is also called poisonous parasites, mainly through the diet into the human body and cause disease. The patient is like being bewitched by ghosts and confused until he or she dies a horrible death. For poisonous parasites to cause disease spells, the ancients were convinced, Song Renzong in Qingli eight years (1048) had promulgated the introduction of the method of treatment of parasites, "Qingli good treatment formula" book, even the "illnesses and Hou Theory", "Thousand Gold Formula", "Compendium of Materia Medica" and other medical books have been in the parasites in the detailed analysis of the symptoms and the treatment of the medical prescription.
There are eleven kinds of parasites: snake parasites, golden silkworm parasites, contempt piece parasites, stone parasites, loach parasites, in the pest God, noma parasites, swelling parasites, epileptic parasites, Yin snake parasites, raw snake parasites. Among them, the stone compulsion is a very toxic "witchcraft", the sorcerer in the stone on the compulsion drug, accidentally touched the stone people will be compelled to die.
Dogzi had countless inversions and never believed in ghosts and gods. His hands righteously grabbed the stone ring of the tomb door and twisted it with force, and the tomb door slowly opened in a rumbling sound. At the same time, a black fog came to his face, emitting a gust of stench, he could not think too much, covered his nose with his hand, and walked toward the tomb ......
The crowd waited anxiously at the entrance to the tomb, and after about ten minutes, a heart-rending scream came from the tomb passage.
Help ......
"It's fulfilled ......," said Papa Kallen, three words repeating out of his mouth as beads of sweat oozed from his forehead.
Noboru Yamamoto, President of Tomodansha, a Japanese antiquities looting organization, and Professor at the Department of Archaeology, Tokyo Imperial University. Taro Okamura, Senior Colonel, Co-Captain of a unit of the Sixth Division, Army Staff Headquarters, China Theater, Ministry of War, Japan.
In front of the Japanese position, Yamamoto Noboru and Okamura Taro used military binoculars to lock onto every move on the dunes. Directly in front of them, at the foot of the dune, the Falcon contingent builds fortifications and is also ready for battle.
"Suzuki-kun, there is an old Chinese saying, 'The mantis catches the cicada, but the yellow bird is at the back'. Our archaeological team has secretly infiltrated the ancient tomb, and no matter how much treasure those Chinamen find, it will ultimately be a basket of water."
"Yamamoto-kun, the current situation on the European battlefield is very unfavorable to our Great Japanese Empire, the military ministry has long since lost the courage and confidence it had during the Showa 12 years, and the success or failure of the bacteriological warfare test will directly determine the future fate of the Empire. The Empire's best soldiers are dwindling day by day, and there is no longer a single surplus soldier in my Wing, so I'm afraid I can't accompany you in this game of 'hunting'. You know, even Genghis Khan's tomb cannot be compared to the Empire's Holy War!"
"Your Excellency, Senior Colonel, perhaps you have made the right decision. But I have to say that for the Empire to swallow an ancient country with a 5,000 year old splendid civilization, blood and killing alone is not enough. We have to control their flesh and minds, and more importantly, cut off their cultural bloodline! I think the Chinese contingent on the other side should be very interested in Bacteria 7311."
"My intuition tells me that these Chinese soldiers will make us pay in blood again!"
......
In 1943, the world war against fascism was becoming clearer, and the Allies were winning new victories. Unit 731 of the Japanese Kwantung Army was preparing to develop a new type of virus, code-named "7311", suitable for use in desert, mountain and jungle warfare. This bacterium was so virulent that it had to be cultivated under extremely harsh conditions. To that end, an experimental team from Unit 731 of the Japanese Kwantung Army secretly traveled to Loulan to conduct bacteriological warfare tests.
In order to cover up and block the news to the international community, the Japanese cultural relics looting organization, Tomodansha, was ordered by the military ministry to go to Loulan in the name of archaeology to carry out treasure stealing activities. In Sven. Hedin's strong appeal, China and the United States jointly formed an archaeological team, under the escort of the Falcon contingent, immediately rushed to Loulan salvage excavations. In order to prevent the Sino-American joint archaeological team from entering Loulan, a unit of the Japanese Sixth Division and the Falcon Contingent started a fight to the death. At the same time, the International Anti-fascist League appointed a reporter to blend into the archaeological team and secretly launch an investigation to collect detailed information about bacteria No. 7311.
Late one night in the early spring of 1944, at Fort Mitsuki, 75 kilometers southwest of Loulan.
The Japanese army surrounded the old castle, the experimental team immediately injected all the villagers and livestock in the castle with "7311". All of a sudden, the ancient fortress was filled with the cries of chickens and dogs, and the cries of ghosts and wolves.
One early morning three days later, the old hunter, Papa Kallen, who had been out hunting, and his grandson, Dhadavaka, returned to Fort Lightmoon. Only to see the villagers, one by one, eyes swollen, skin ulcerated, covered with red pus, the body still retains the tragic appearance of the death of the pain of grasping and pulling the skin and flesh. Livestock screams of joy have long since disappeared, at this time the old fort cold and desolate, as if a hell on earth.
A few "plastered flags" spinning in the wind on the ground ......
Papa Kahlen burned down the entire old fort with a single fire, his eyes turning bloodshot from his inextinguishable hatred. Dhadavarkar, who was on the side, was trembling and muttering, not knowing what he was saying.
Suddenly, Papa Kallen grabbed Dada Waka's shoulders tightly and said coldly, "Dada Waka, promise Grandpa to forget everything you saw today forever." Then, he turned to face the depths of the vast Loulan land and shouted, "Damn brats! I will lead the warriors of the Abroli clan to decimate you with the most vicious curses! In order to console the heavenly souls of the villagers of my fortress ......"
"Company commander, save me ......" Faint cries for help came intermittently from the tomb passage.
Song Qiankun and Hu Shan scurried into the ancient tomb almost at the same time, followed closely by the archaeological team. The scene in front of them made them shudder, only to see the mess of wood built tunnel slowly moving up, not a moment will become flat and regular. Then, the pavement of the tomb road logs began to close to the sides, the tomb road suddenly appeared a two-foot-square just to accommodate a person in and out of the small pool, which is a light green liquid in a little bit of a rise.
Half of the dog's body had already disappeared into the light green liquid, and there were "crackling" sounds in the pool, and his limbs below the waist were melting a little bit, and a faint mist rose on the surface of the liquid, just like the ghosts in hell. His eyes swelled up a bit exaggeratedly, like balloons filled with air, as if they could pop out of their sockets at any time. His hands were desperately tearing at his face, which was covered in red pustules, as if he wanted to claw the whole face off, with blood-soaked flesh hanging on the white bones. His arms seemed to have been instantly drained of all moisture, turning as stiff as a dry corpse ......
"Quick! Quickly pull the dog up!" Song Qiankun roared and lunged towards the pool.
"Company Commander! The water is poisonous, you can't touch the dog!" Hu Shan's eyes were quick, and he held Song Qiankun's waist, weeping in pain, "This is not a curse ......"
"Get lost!" Song Qiankun broke away from Hu Shan and kicked him to the ground, then was about to pull the dog's arm.
At this point, the dog used all his strength to painstakingly move his hands away from his face, then plunged into the light green liquid as fast as he could, squeezing out a few words from between his trembling lips, "Don't ...... touch ...... me ......"
Hu Shan couldn't care about the pain in his body, struggled to climb up and once again held Song Qiankun's waist in death, Xia Linghao and Jack, who were standing aside, also rushed up, and the three of them together pressed Song Qiankun to the ground. At this time, the light green liquid as if sensing what, rising faster and faster, in a moment, the dog only left a head exposed outside.
"My God!" Jack, the American pilot with long blonde hair and a thick nose, couldn't help but scream out.
At this time, another blonde, blue-eyed, tall young woman came out of the archaeological team. She had a camera in her hand and a brown travel bag over her shoulder, and looked like a reporter accompanying the team. She walked over to the pool and took a picture of the dog. Professor James and his research assistant, Anna, each made a cross on their chests and prayed silently.
"Curse! The great sorcerer has come to claim his life! Those who have been hit by the witchcraft will surely die a miserable death, fulfilled ......," said Papa Kallen with a soulful look. Dhadavaka clutched the corner of his grandfather's coat, sweat seeping out of his hands, and his face was as white as a sheet of paper.
Song Qiankun roared, broke away from the three and rushed to Bonnie, snatched the camera and slammed it on the ground with force, roaring angrily, "You motherfucker, who let you take pictures, don't you think my brother didn't die badly enough?!"
"I was very sad to see your brother die a horrible death, and I took the picture of the dog not as a souvenir, but to do justice to the millions of underground dead like him. One day you will understand my pain in doing this." Bonnie picked up the broken camera and stroked it carefully, like a loving mother caring for her child.
"Company ...... company commander, I ...... I want to go back ...... home." The dog let out a final wail as the pale green liquid in the pool engulfed him completely.
A tattered military cap whirled alone on the green liquid, its insignia glinting pale blue ......
Song Qiankun gently grabbed the military cap and pulled off the cap badge, his mood was heavy. He silently stood up, walked over and patted Hu Shan's shoulder, and said in a deep voice: "Give the dog a first-class merit." Along the way, in order to escort the Sino-US joint archaeological team into Loulan, the warriors of the Falcon Contingent do not know how many fell, Song Qiankun's pockets almost every day there is a new cap insignia to join the strong appearance can not disguise its inner misery.
As soon as the words fell, the light green liquid in the pool began to slowly descend, and the logs on both sides of the tomb passage gathered towards the top of the pool, and with a loud bang as the two logs collided, the pool disappeared below the tomb passage.
"Dog! We agreed, after this mission is completed, we will return home together, how can you bear to leave your brother alone regardless of ......" Hu Shan can no longer hold back his inner grief, bawling. Can make the hall seven feet of male pain tears, that is a kind of what kind of friendship? Perhaps only the smoke-filled battlefield can give the answer.
The place where the pool disappeared, carved a triangle, the respective apex of the three letters of the alphabet written in white paint: O, L, O. The tomb is not as dark as imagined, the left side of the tomb wall hanging an oil lamp, yellowish halo gradually shrouded the entire tomb, the people were able to clearly see what had just happened.
Xia Ling Hao squatted down, closed his eyes, and touched those three English letters with his hands, as if his mind was connected with them.
Why do the English letters look white and bright in dim light instead? Maybe the letters ...... were really engraved by Sven Hedin. Hedin engraved, after forty years, the handwriting has become blurred, not even easy to be seen, must be someone not long ago with paint, so that the letters appear white and bright. It's a code word! Where is he trying to lead us? No, it could also be a group of people! The place where the dog disappeared left some vague and messy footprints, they had laid this trap a few days earlier, they had known that we would come here. On the one hand, they set up such a horrible trap to let us know what to expect; on the other hand, they left obvious marks to lure us into exploring deeper into the ancient tomb. Who are they? And what is their purpose in doing so ......
Xia Linghao suddenly opened his eyes, scrutinized the three English letters with a gaze peculiar to detectives, and couldn't help but blurt out, "Definitely ghost letters!"
Chapter 7: The Mist is Full of Mist
"Ghost Shadow, did you find something?" When Anna saw Xia Ling Hao's look of concentration, she couldn't help but feel a little more curious in her heart.
"The so-called 'witchcraft' is nothing more than a cover-up, and the curse claim is even more absurd, this is simply a trap, or a heavenly conspiracy!" When Xia Linghao said this, the crowd was astonished.
"Hmph, it's just a bunch of nonsense!" Papa Kallen's face turned saucy purple in a flash, his pair of icy eyes were like two deep ancient wells, "It's fine that you don't believe in what the old man said, but you're still here to demagogue the people, the curse of the great sorcerer has never been effective, and you're going to lead us all to our doom!"
Bonnie was intrigued by the Ghost Shadow's deduction and couldn't wait to say, "You should give everyone a reasonable explanation."
"I will." Xia Ling Hao changed his usual icy image and slightly revealed a smiling face, pointing at the place where the dog disappeared, "Look everyone, this is the place where the dog disappeared just now, and it left many messy and blurred footprints around it. Obviously, someone laid this trap a few days ago."
"You mean there's someone else in the tomb besides us? How is this possible!" Dr. Xia Molin looked surprised and pushed his hand over his thick, wide-rimmed glasses, "We just opened the tomb door, how did they get in?"
Hu Shan also hastened to add, "The dunes are covered with more than five meters of quicksand, and digging a robber's hole to get in is unlikely."
"This is exactly where I was thinking." Xia Linghao frowned slightly as he walked right up to the oil lamp and pointed to the tomb passage, "Look guys, there are two rows of clear footprints here. If I'm not wrong, just before we entered the tomb after the dog fell into the trap, this person lit the oil lamp. And the position of the oil lamp is also very special, the light emitted is just enough to illuminate the place of the trap, his purpose is to let us see the dog's death."
"Don't be so fucking cryptic, tell me, who is he?!" The brotherhood on the battlefield had made Song Qiankun's "fire power" perfect. Of course, a man with a bit of "banditism" is not a man with blood.
Xia Linghao knows that Song Qiankun is a man of love and righteousness. Song Qiankun often said to the brothers under him: the battlefield is not our home, is our grave, are a pot of food brothers, can not cry from a mother's womb out of life, death can smile and lie into a pit, this life even if it is not living in vain. Xia Linghao or the first time so close to observe the eyes of Song Qiankun, that is a pair of eyes full of expectations, he really can not bear to let it disappointment, but he can only at this time it shook his head and sighed.
Song Qiankun's anger seemed to have instantly aroused Jack's desire to mock Xia Linghao, and he said in a very unimpressed manner, "Your hypothesis is simply too wonderful! But what's the use, it's just a hypothesis, there won't be a second Sherlock Holmes in the world."
"It's not hypothesis, it's reasoning!" Xia Linghao plucked the sad clouds from his face and replaced it with an icy face, "I have an even more amazing discovery. Professor James, lend me the human skin map."
There were a few doubts in Professor James' eyes, but he still took out the brocade box from his backpack and handed it to Xia Ling Hao.
Xia Linghao couldn't wait to open the box and carefully took out the human skin map. The place marked with a red cross on it was the exact location of the treasure, and it was surrounded by three cryptic phrases written in pen: "Under the Signature", "Big Lie", and "Ghost Alphabet".
"Sven. Hedin said that by unlocking the cryptic words on the map of the human skin, the treasure would be brought back to life." Professor James said this at the right time.
Dr. Summerlin walked over to where the dog had disappeared, pointed to the three letters of the alphabet, and said, "Could the 'ghost letters' refer to them?"
"Right on the money!" Xia Linghao cast an approving glance at his uncle, "The place where the letters appeared is exactly where the trap is, but it's been forty years since the letters were engraved on it, and it was only possible to see the general outline, but someone has painted it again with white paint. He left such an obvious mark behind to lure us to the depths of the ancient tomb, maybe there is a heavenly conspiracy here!"
"The dog didn't lie on the battlefield, but was assassinated by the villain, the death is really a wimp. I can't swallow this breath, even if the front is a mountain of daggers and fire, I have to accompany the murderer to play in the end, if I don't kill this thief with my own hands, I swear I won't be a man!" Song Qiankun's heart is not in the treasure, he simply did not have any interest in the treasure, the reason why he came to Loulan, only to do a soldier's duty. In his heart, there was only one real treasure, and that was his brother's life!
Hu Shan raised the Thomson M1 submachine gun, pulled open the insurance, loaded the bullets, and swept at the top of the tomb passage for a burst of crazy shooting. The sound of the gun like thunder, shaking the hearts of the crowd, the tongue of fire like lightning, split the darkness, scattered shells like a downpour of rain, leaking to the ground .......
Terrified, Papa Kallen grabbed Hu Shan's hand and said with a bloodless face, "Don't ever shoot! If we startle the Goddess of Light and Moon, once the Great Sorcerer's curse manifests, doom will immediately befall us."
"Hmph, what bullshit curse, you're afraid, but I'm not!" Hu Shan's tiger eyes were round and fierce, as if he was the king of hell.
"Sir, just listen to old man, we'll leave here immediately." Seeing that he couldn't talk Hu Shan out of it, Old Man Karen went to pull Song Qiankun's arm again, "We can't fall into the enemy's trap!"
"Enemies? Who is Papa Kallen referring to?!" Xia Ling Hao's eyes flashed with brilliance, like a hungry wolf that had caught a sheep.
"I ...... don t know what you are talking about." The bean-sized beads of sweat on Papa Kallen's forehead shook, and the wrinkles on his face were like an overgrown aqueduct that looked older and older without the nourishment of water.
Xia Ling Hao pursued and said coldly, "Haven't you always been worshipping the Light Moon Goddess? Don't you want to search for 'holy water' anymore? Dada Waka's illness is yet to be cured."
"You ......" Papa Kallen's gaze at this moment, if it were a sharp sword, would have long cut Xia Ling Hao into mush at this moment.
Professor James, already smelling a strong odor of "gunpowder", stepped forward to change the subject, "Ghost Shadow, what are the references to 'Under the Signature' and 'Big Lie'? What are 'Under the Signature' and 'Big Lie' referring to?"
The corners of Xia Ling Hao's mouth gently rose, revealing a weird smile as he pointed his finger towards the depths of the ancient tomb.
Ah ......
A mournful scream came from the depths of the tomb passage, and the ancient tomb fell silent, the air suddenly condensed, like a wall, blocking the crowd's sight.
Chapter 8: The Girl in the Kimono
There was a thick wooden door at the end of the tomb passage, and the screams were coming from behind it. A letter P was carved in the center of the wooden door and painted with white paint.
"The Ghost Alphabet has reappeared, everyone beware of the traps!" Xia Linghao's gaze was firm, and his words were unquestionable.
Song Qiankun put his ear on the door and listened carefully, when there was no movement behind the wooden door.
"Ah ...... my god, what is this!" Bonnie suddenly screamed, looking panicked.
A puddle of blood dripped along the gap between the wooden door and the floor, and a strong, putrid odor filled the air.
Jack came over and held Bonnie's shoulders and said ambiguously, "Fireworks big reporter, it's nothing, just a little blood, you don't have to be afraid, America's finest pilots are ready to escort you."
Anna gave Jack a nonchalant blank look and nonchalantly knocked Jack's hand off Bonnie's shoulder. Then she began to comfort the overly frightened Bonnie.
"Damn antique woman, she's a poltergeist!" Jack muttered as his face clouded over.
As soon as Jack's words fell, the blood behind the wooden door seemed to have a spirit, flowing several times faster all of a sudden, and Song Qiankun's shoes were already soaked with blood.
"My God, what's behind the wooden door, the devil?" Jack's earlier composure crumbled in an instant.
Anna gave Jack a contemptuous look and taunted, "What a coward!"
Jack could do nothing at this point except stare angrily at him.
"What the fuck, what the fuck, all of you, back off!"
Song Qiankun hands tightly grasp the ghost head sword, make all the strength towards the wooden door cut. This power to split the Huashan knife, the force is more than a thousand kilograms, the crowd only saw a flash of cold light in front of their eyes, "bang" sound, the wooden door is like a collapsed building, instantly turned into a pile of waste wood.
When the dust cleared, the crowd could see that there was a narrow section of the tunnel behind the wooden door. Only a girl in kimono was lying on her side on the ground, her body curled up into a ball like a frightened kitten. Her face was emaciated, her lips were purple, and she was trembling all over.
Immediately next to the wooden door lay a headless body. The body was covered in black clothes and had black shoes, and by now it had dissolved into a puddle of blood, and it was from this body that Bonnie saw the blood coming out.
"Sakurako!" Dr. Summerlin suddenly rushed towards the girl in the kimono with a surprised look, "Sakurako, is it really you? Why are you here?"
The girl in the kimono stood up straight with difficulty under the assistance of Dr. Summerlin. She opened her disoriented eyes, and a familiar yet blurry face floated in front of her eyes.
"Uncle Natsu ...... Natsu ......" The girl in the kimono's mouth was open for a long time before she managed to get the words out.
"Sakura-chan, I'm your Uncle Natsu! Tell Uncle, why are you staying here alone?"
"7311......"
"Sakurako ......"
The girl in the kimono fainted in Dr. Xia Molin's arms, and from her glistening, jade-like face one could conclude that women are really made of water.
When the girl in the kimono said "7311," Bonnie shivered, as if a bolt of lightning had passed through her body.
"Fireworks, what's wrong with you? Where are you uncomfortable?" Anna's concern was written all over her face.
"No ...... nothing, I'm fine, just a little tired." Bonnie had a thoughtful look on her face. In the face of Anna's sudden question, she looked a little flustered, and for a moment she didn't know how to answer, so she had to make up a random excuse to get out of the way first.
Dr. Summerlin's thoughts drifted back two years at once.
It was a snowy winter, the Eighth Route Army headquarters in the Taihang Mountains, a piece of silver. In a small earth house, the fire under the earth bed was burning vigorously, and the burning wood crackled incessantly.
There was a middle-aged man with white hair lying on the dirt bed, his face looked very bad and he had a sickly look. Next to him was a small wooden table with a bottle of white wine and two black-glazed bowls; this man was Hirakawa Tanino, a former senior general of the Japanese Sixth Division.
At this time, the door of the earth house was pushed open, and a middle-aged man wearing wide-rimmed glasses walked in. The warmth immediately dispelled the cold air on his body, and the middle-aged man patted off the thick snow on his body, took off his brown scarf, and sat down on the edge of the kang.
"Natsu-kun, pour me a bowl of wine, I'll warm up." Hirakawa Tanino's voice was pale and raw, and he coughed repeatedly when he finished.
"Old classmate, the house is warm, your stomach problem is getting worse, it is better not to drink." The middle aged man wearing glasses added a firewood to the earth bed under the bed, with a look of concern, "You have been captured for three months, and some Japanese soldiers are beginning to join the antiwar alliance, are you considering ...... it?"
"I am a general! I swore to defend the honor of the Hirakawa family to the death!" Hirakawa Tanino interrupted the middle-aged man, his body trembling violently, "Perhaps, those soldiers are innocent, and they don't have to give their loyalty to the Emperor, but I am highly respected by the Emperor, and I will not join the anti-war alliance, no matter what I say."
The middle-aged man frowned, a little agitated, and said indignantly, "Precisely because you are a general, you should be more responsible for the lives of your soldiers! If you join the anti-war alliance now, it will stop the killing of many blood-stained hands and the war will end sooner. I believe that both the Chinese and Japanese people are praying for peace, and you can only atone for your sins by doing so."
Hirakawa Tanino's deep eyes were like floodwaters after opening the floodgates, and he burst into tears and sighed long and tersely, "You don't understand that the sins my Sixth Division committed in Nanking are not something that a few words of apology can remove the hatred of all the Chinese people. The more the Eighth Route Army treats me kindly, the more terrified I am inside."
The two of them were silent opposite each other for a long time. The air in the room seemed to freeze instantly, and breathing began to become cautious.
"Twenty years ago, with the dream of raising an army to save the country, I traveled east to Fusan and set foot on the land of cherry blossoms. At the Army Non-Commissioned Officer's School, you and I became equal rivals, as well as bosom buddies. When I returned to China, I thought I could fulfill my ambition, but I saw that the warlords were fighting in the country, which made the people's life unbearable. Since then, I gave up martial arts and turned to archaeology, hoping to use the power of culture to stop the war and maintain peace. God really made it so that you and I met again on the battlefield. Unfortunately, you are no longer the righteous great general of yesteryear, but now you have become a war criminal who carries a heavy blood debt." The middle-aged man narrated, like a dying old man recounting the dusty past.
"I'm not a war criminal, I'm a prisoner of war!" Hirakawa Tanino struggled to sit up and fished out an old diary from under his pillow, the blue cover was still stained with blood, he handed the diary over to the middle-aged man, "Natsu-kun, I didn't ask you to come here today to fight with you, but I have something important to ask of you, please make sure that you hand this diary over to my daughter Sakurako."
The middle-aged man looked at the diary in his hand with a bewildered expression and said in disbelief, "This is your family letter to Sakurako?"
