The Authors:
The authors of this book are four kids from Romania, who love animals and try to help getting love and understanding for animals – especially those who are homeless and live in the streets.
Antonia Szongott, 11 years old – She is very involved in saving animals and wants to become a vet like her father.
Andreea Andonie, 18 years old – Even if she is a champion swimmer with extraordinary school results, she takes time to look after her pets that are adopted from the streets.
Carmen Andonie, 14 years old – She loves her cats Bagheera and Mittens very much and can tell nice stories about them. She offered them a better life by giving them shelter and love.
Vlad Bucatariu, 12 years old – He is a wonderful student who loves his great, intelligent tomcat and who looks after him with great love. He also provides food for the stray cats in his neighborhood.

The Romanian students who have had the chance to take part in this project are wonderful people who share one very important feature: they love animals, try to save them and offer shelter and food for the poor souls who so desperately need help and protection in this world. This is how they were offered the opportunity to become part of the great project created by Mrs. Christine Goeb-Kümmel, when they put their experiences with their best friends (an amazing variety of pets that you shall find out about in this book) into words that eventually became essays.
I, their English teacher, read these moving, emotional compositions together with Christine Goeb-Kümmel, whose previous book they had all read and been inspired by before. In the pages of the present book, you will find out about the real experiences not only of children who try to do the best they can for animals, but also the situations that stray animals in Romania have to go through, how some of them manage to survive and how they are saved by special people such as these young, promising authors and especially kind persons:
