Some time has passed since Mafalda Cinquetti's last adventures. Time that has changed her life considerably. And also time that has made the previously unthinkable conceivable. Because even though she has only confided it to a few people so far, it finally happens: Mafalda leaves Murano!
This story will probably be the first chapter of the new, now third volume, of Mafalda Cinquetti, which will be published in late 2025. They are therefore both a preview of the new volume and Mafalda's new adventures in Venice, as well as a gentle introduction to the changes she is now facing.

„Otto formaggi?“
The question caught Lucia off guard, a rare occurrence for someone who was never at a loss for words. One could clearly see her facial features slowly slipping into confusion. Silence was not her usual state, and she had never been known to lack quick wit. Seated with Mafalda and Alma at the traditionally red-checkered table of Trattoria Al Galeon in the middle section of Via Garibaldi in Venice, she waved her hands uncertainly, unsure what had just hit her.
„Eight cheeses?“ Lucia finally echoed, incredulous. She had no answer to hostess Ornella’s mischievous question. In fact, she didn’t even understand the meaning behind it, while Alma, sitting across from her, began to chuckle behind her hand. Whenever Alma laughed, it took only seconds for Mafalda to join in with her cackling. Still clueless, Lucia looked helplessly between her two best friends and the hostess.
„Gnocchi quattro formaggi e dopo pizza quattro formaggi,“ bellowed Ornella from across the room, her deep voice carrying over the heads of all the guests from behind the galley-like bar. “Pasta with four cheeses and then pizza with four cheeses. Eight cheeses!” She clapped her hands. „Otto formaggi!“
