En la ciudad de Kattak vive un hombre llamado Pulo-Delhi. Pulo es el hermano de Tippot-Delhi, magnífico rey de Osira.

Es de noche. Pulo está fuera del castillo. Él espera a una mujer, Siannah.
Ella es una de las mujereres más bellas de toda la India. Siannah es, también, la esposa de Tippot-Delhi, rey de Osira y hermano de Pulo-Delhi.
