Foreword
The poems enclosed in this book are quite varied and aimed at an audience who are in different places. As they journey through life with it’s whirlwind of thoughts, emotions and situations, it is my hope that whoever reads this book is blessed as they look for some answers to the many questions they may encounter.
Chapter 1
Creation
Pastures Green
Have you seen those pastures green?
Beautiful meadows
The sun glistening on a stream
In the distance a windmill grinds corn
Look! There’s a doe with her newly born
Natural country flourishing,
Untouched, a glimpse of heaven
He’s given us so much.
A little further there’s a field of bluebells,
Inhale the vision and you begin to smell,
The sweet bouquet on a summer’s day
Freedom, fresh, fields
Gathered bales of hay
Natural matter
That knows no affliction,
Easy to see why God’s my addiction
Simplicity is nature’s crown
Be still Shhh!
You can hear music on the mound, surely
As sure as you’re destined and bound
In pastures green
God is found.
Paradise Lost
Paradise lost
Was not the will at hand
Disobedience became the fall of man
Temptation
One bite was all it took
Clearly a mistake,
For the whole earth shook!
And though it still shakes,
Riddled with sickness and fear,
Destruction, negative production,
His love is still near.
The wonders of the earth,
They tell me so,
The unexplained
Beauty in nature
Flowers that grow
For here was perfection
So frivolously tossed,
I believe it’s coming back,
That paradise lost.
The Greatest Tree
The greatest tree has many branches,
Each one grows strong
Each one enhances
God’s Spirit guide
A love so deep
Thy Kingdom come,
Kingdom to keep
With beauty in heart,
And all around
The joyous singing of nature’s sound
For such green fingers
Have made it all
The greatest tree
Shall never fall.
The Creator
God made me,
He made the sun,
He made the moon,
He has the time,
To save us from doom
He breathed us life
Which we destroy,
A broken heart,
We kill the joy.
We can bear fruit,
In Him the vine,
God gives us grace,
He’s so divine.
He has a plan to restore my soul.
God’s word is true,
God is my goal.
God is all around
God is all around,
He’s in the sky,
He’s in the air,
He makes the trees,
He has such flair!
Creating all
With His tender loving care
God is all around, just look.
God’s word is just, just read His book.
God makes things grow, Can you believe?
Not man, not science, Can you conceive?
Oh believe, believe,
For what you see, you perceive,
God is all around, He is life itself,
Search for the Lord,
You’ll soon find your wealth,
You’ll find your soul,
Your inner being
How beautiful it is
When God sets the scene.
Chapter 2
Sin
Scales
Weighing up on the scales of life,
In the world causes you to tilt,
On a steady down spiral
Without life giving water
Like flowers we wither and wilt.
A bit of everything in moderation,
Isn’t balance at all
Sin is sin to be even procrastinating
Keeps your back against the wall.
To get the right perspective, make Jesus your directive
He led a balanced, upright life,
To be Christ like should be our objective.
Eliminating the imbalance that comes,
With strife as you’re morally corrected.
To think about what you’re thinking
Check, from where it derives.
If it’s not in scripture
Then it does not coincide,
On the tide as you ride
Swinging to and fro.
Difficult? Yes? Maybe?
But it gets easier as you grow.
Without emotions governing the body
And feelings taking you low,
In Christ there’s balanced actions
As you let Him run the show.
Look at Him upon these scales
Our own efforts are weak, fragile, frail!
His have never yet, not once, failed
Trust His way
Guaranteed never again to say “To no avail!”
Welcome Home, Prodigal Son
This book I’ve written,
Is about the prodigal son,
He exchanged his life,
For riotous fun
A ’great’ idea at the time,
But it wasn’t long
Before he was drenched in slime!
Total degradation!
Sinful elation!
But that’s not what God meant for creation.
Life’s about choice,
It’s about repercussions,
Reaping what you’re sowing,
But God’s love is still showing!
He wants you and me
To walk in what we’re purposed to be
Don’t take worldly imitation,
You can have the Creator of creation!
He’s beautiful, He’s all you need,
Know in you there’s Godly seed.
The case is closed,
You are forgiven,
Now it’s time to start living,
In what you were destined to be,
A writer? A prophet?, A musician? See?
Today’s your beginning, a brand new start,
Just reach out and receive the Father’s heart.
Prodigal son, He wants you,
Pick up the cross now, There’s work to do.
City Streets
Morning has come,
The city sleeps.
A young girl is missing,
And nobody weeps.
Night falls again and the race is on,
Bright lights shine, tempting Lucifer’s song.
In a city stripped naked, to whom it belongs,
Speed and excitement,
Blind all to do wrong.
Gotta make a fast buck,
Or I’ll run outta luck,
You’re constantly moving
But Hey!
You’re still stuck.
