I strolled into the night club, feeling a bit nervous and self conscious.  It had been years since I had stepped into one.  My sister seemed to sense me tense up and lightly squeezed my arm.

“Oh come on Sarah!  Lighten up, this’ll be fun!”  My sister assured.

“You don’t think I’m too old for this?”  I sighed back.

“Are you crazy?  We’re only five years apart!  Come on!”  She urged.

It was easy for her to say.  For me, five years was still half a decade.  She was turning thirty, the big milestone for her, while I was hurtling towards...  I didn’t even want to think about it.  My life had grown so tiring and boring in those five years.  Two kids, and a husband who was rarely there mentally, let alone physically.

I even spent a grueling summer working my ass off at the gym to try and get his attention, but there was no spark between us.  My sister was my soundboard, letting me get a lot of things off my chest.  At the same time though, I couldn’t get too detailed, I didn’t want her to think that life was downhill from where she stood.

“Trust me, this will be fun!  I’m turning thirty!  This is it!”  She insisted.

“Fine, fine, stop squeezing so hard Susan,” I responded.

We approached the entrance to the club and I glanced over at the large man standing near it, blocking it while holding a clipboard in one hand.  He looked up, our eyes meeting.  I nearly froze, wondering if he was going to block us, or more specifically me, from entering.

“What’s up girls,” he greeted with a small nod.

“Hey!  Not much, just celebrating my birthday!”  Susan exclaimed.

We had been drinking a little bit before this night out, a bit of a pre-funk.  I was feeling slightly buzzed but I could tell Susan was definitely feeling it.  She leaned in towards the bouncer and I could clearly see him looking down at her cleavage.

“Wow, your birthday?  Is your name on the list?”  He asked.

“Oh come on, two girls on a night out and you want to see us on some list?  You’re not going to stop us from entering, are you?”  Susan responded, leaning in even closer, letting him get a nice good look at her breasts, just barely covered by her skimpy, tight fitting black dress.

He scratched his chin and glanced over at me, looking me over.  I couldn’t help but feel a bit nervous, wondering if I was going to pass his little test.  I was wearing a dress similar to my sister’s, a tight fitting short dress that revealed the bottom half of my thighs.  My large breasts were being squeezed into it, making me look slightly top heavy, an after effect of having two kids.  Finishing off my outfit were knee high boots, heels actually, my favorite pair from back when I did go out clubbing.  I had kept them for some reason and they still fit comfortably.

“Eh...  Why the fuck not, have fun out there,” the bouncer replied as he moved aside.

Susan yelped and giggled as he smacked her ass as she walked by.  We entered into the dark labyrinth and were bombarded by loud bass music.  It was bad enough that I could barely see inside but the loud music was damn near deafening.

“Wow!  A lot has changed since I used to come to these!”  I yelled.

“I know, right?  I think they’re playing EDM!”  Susan responded.

“Who?  EDM?  Never heard of them,” I replied.

Susan laughed and shook her head.  She grabbed my arm and pulled me deeper into the club, past the dance floor and heading more towards the back where the music seemed to drown out.  There was bar in the back with, lucky for us, two spots open.

“They really blast the music out there,” I said, leaning in towards my sister.

“I know!  I don’t remember it being this loud,” Susan agreed.

We ordered a couple of drinks and walked over to a nearby standing table.  After some reminiscing, she tapped me on the arm and nodded while pointing behind me.

“Those guys have been staring at us,” she said.

“Are they cute?”  I laughed.

She tilted her head and smiled.  “You’re about to find out.”

“What?  Wait, what?!”  I responded as I turned.

Two tall black men were standing behind me, towering over my smaller frame.  Their thick bodies were nearly busting out of their dress shirts.  One was bald, the other had some hair, buzzed close to the skin, fading out as it lowered.

“Hey girls!  Mind if we join?”  The balded one asked.

“Uh...”  I glanced over at Susan.

“Of course!”  She responded.

“Hi, name’s Joe, and this is Rashid,” the balded one introduced.

“Well hello Joe, Rashid.  I’m Susan and this is my sister Sarah.  We’re out on a wild night to celebrate my birthday!”

“Congratulations!  Happy Birthday!  I guess it would be rude of me to ask how old you’re going to be?”  Joe inquired.

“Oh, you know it would,” Susan responded with a smirk.

“Let me guess...  twenty... four?”  Rashid asked as he swooped in beside my sister.  I rolled my eyes and laughed.  Rashid honestly looked back at me, surprised.  “What?  I’m wrong?”  He asked.

“Hey!  No answer from you,” Susan warned as she pointed her finger at me.  Let’s just go with that, yes, twenty four,” she continued as she lightly tapped Rashid on the arm.

“Wow, I’m surprised you didn’t go with twenty one,” I quipped sarcastically.

“Shush.  Oh wow, what are you hiding in that shirt?  It’s like I brushed up against wood,” Susan said as she rubbed her hand against his arm again.

“Oh trust me, that’s not wood,” Rashid replied.  “But I might have a hard piece of wood on me somewhere,” he added mischievously as he tapped Susan on the shoulder.

I couldn’t help but giggle.  He was actually hitting on my sister.  Susan leaned in closer to Rashid and ran her hand on his chest.

“Is it a hard piece of wood like a two by four hiding somewhere or is it a little limp branch?”  She teased.

I covered my mouth as I gasped.  She normally wasn’t so forward and she wasn’t the type to flirt back.  Both black men laughed, Joe stepping back to clap his hands and act as if he was going to fall backward.

“Well, I ain’t never heard of anyone being able to hide a two by four in their pants but I will say I ain’t carrying a little fig,” Rashid replied with a wink.

The music heated up, switching from electronic music to more familiar rap-pop songs.  Susan grabbed Rashid’s wrist and pulled him away from the table and with her towards the dance floor.  “Come on!  Let’s party!”  She said as she looked over at me.

Joe extended his hand towards me and smiled.  “Care to join?”  He asked.
