An eye to the smartphone would distract him from everyday life and, why not, create new opportunities for fun in his lonely, boring life. Perhaps, he could have convinced this woman to show up with him, so as to avoid the unwanted incursions of Claudio Alfiere, the new Public Prosecutor who arrived just before. He didn't need an escort, maybe it would have been fine with that person, but at the moment, since he had to bear a double identity, even a story too important would have created unnecessary stress. A weight on Paul's shoulders that was hard for him to bear: taking a ride in the dating app wouldn't have bothered him at all. He entered the search parameters for the woman he wanted.

At first, Paul thought she was an escort. However, he decided to contact her: the app didn't show the number, but it was still possible to send a message to the potential partner. He decided not to write anything down. On the other hand, whatever he had written, it would have resulted in endless sadness. What was he supposed to write?

"Young 32-year-old looking for company to keep a pain-in-the-ass Prosecutor from ruining his convulsive boredom days?". So, he let the automatic message go. In three seconds, a message arrived on Whatsapp. It was her.

"Hi, this is Valentina. I don't know how you found me, but I'd like to meet you. Don't send me anything. I want to see you directly. Meet me at 9:00 p.m. at the restaurant near Central Station. You know, I'm a fan of detective stories. Don't answer that. I'll see you there. Bye".

Telegraphic, control freak, and few words. For Paul, it was like an ice storm in the fall. Of course he wanted to see her. If she really was the woman in the picture, of course. He recognized her right away. She was a beautiful woman and she was alone. It was impossible that she didn't attract his attention, considering that she was the woman in the picture and the one he was looking for. He sat down and introduced himself.

"Paul, nice to meet you". He would only give his personal details and general information about his work on request.
