This is a short story I wrote while I was in high school. It is about a young woman's life with people other than her family. I sincerely hope you enjoy it.

Most people believe that the legend of 'Sasquatch' (Big Foot as we in the U.S.A. affectionately call them) (or Yeti as their cousins are called) is a myth, or a fabrication of the truth, whichevre you prefer. I know better. It is with love for the Sasquatch that I write this story to my parents.
Many years ago, when I was young, we took a vacation trip to the Rocky Mountains. Being only ten, I, of course, wandered off when we stopped at a rest stop; and got lost.
As night approached, I discovered I could not find my way back to my parents. I was so hungry and scared that I started to cry. Then, I began to run without direction. Tears blurred my vision and I did not see the tree root until I tripped over it and fell to the ground - hard. Rather than get up and keep running, I simply curled into a ball and cried myself to sleep.
When I woke in the morning, I was warm. But, rather than the light of the sun, I opened my eyes to the sight of a small fire. It took some time for me to realize that I was not safely with my parents but elsewhere. When the blanket I was curled up on moved, I screamed and quickly scooted away from it. To my surprise, and terror, a large hairy beast sat up right next to me.
When I started to scream again, the being put its hands to its ears and shook its head, then it moved away toward the fire. As I sat with my mouth open, only a squeak having escaped, the beast lifted a stick from beside the fire and extended it toward me.
In my state of shock, it took some time before the smell of roasted meat reached my brain. When it did, my stomach rumbled loudly. It was then that I realized the beast was offering me something to eat.
