To the One whose grace sustains me — God Almighty — I return all the glory. This book exists only because of You. Thank You for calling me, forgiving me, healing me, and walking with me even when I fell behind.
To my wife, Mrs. Uc — thank you for your love, patience, and enduring strength. You embody the grace this book describes.
To our daughters — Fae, Somma, and Esthy — may your lives continually be wrapped in the beauty of God’s grace. You are proof that God restores, rebuilds, and renews.
To every reader who has held one of my books — thank you. Your encouragement gives my pen its fire. I am writing for you, praying for you, and trusting God to meet you through every word.
To the memory of those silent moments when grace spoke louder than shame — I carry you in my spirit always.
And finally, to those who feel undeserving, unloved, or undone — this book is yours. Grace still speaks. And its name is Jesus.
PREFACE
There are moments in life when words fail — when only grace speaks. This book was born from such moments.
I did not write Saved By Grace as a scholar or a preacher, but as a man who has walked through fire, wept in secret, stumbled through weakness, and stood again — not by merit, but by mercy.
Grace found me when I had nothing to offer. Grace carried me when I could not walk. Grace became the song I never knew I was born to sing.
This book is not just a theological exploration. It is a testimony. A witness. A journey.
Each chapter is a breath of that grace — sometimes quiet, sometimes fierce, always faithful.
I invite you not just to read, but to encounter.
Let us walk together — from guilt to freedom, from brokenness to beauty, from striving to surrender — and in the end, let us stand in awe of the God whose grace changes everything.
— O. Katchi
INTRODUCTION
Why Grace?
Because everything hinges on it.
From Genesis to Revelation, grace is the golden thread that weaves redemption, hope, love, and divine pursuit into the human story. It is not just what saves us — it is what sustains us, shapes us, and secures us.
In a world where worth is measured by performance, appearance, and results, grace whispers another truth:
You are loved — not because you earned it, but because God chose you.
This book is a journey into the heart of that grace. Not just its definitions, but its demonstrations. Not just its doctrine, but its depth.
You will find stories — biblical and personal. You will find reflections and prayers. You will find questions that stir your spirit and truths that anchor your soul.
This book builds upon the heartbeats of my earlier works The Light Was Always Coming and Real Christian Virtues, and goes deeper still.
Whether you are a new believer, a struggling saint, or a seasoned servant — this book is for you.
Come with open hands. Come with open heart.
And may the pages ahead echo what I have found to be eternally true: Grace is enough.

“ He has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began.” — 2 Timothy 1:9
Before the first atom spun into orbit… before Eden blossomed, before Adam fell, before Satan rebelled, before the stars flamed into galaxies — grace already existed.
Grace is not God’s emergency response to man’s fall. Grace is not plan B. Grace is not a bandage for brokenness.
Grace is the eternal atmosphere of God’s heart — the language of His love spoken before time began.
“ According to His own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began…” (2 Timothy 1:9)
This verse pierces the veil of time. It tells us that grace is older than creation. Before we needed forgiveness, God had already prepared favor. Before sin entered the world, grace had already secured a Savior.
Grace Was Not an Afterthought — It Was the Original Thought
We often see grace as God’s reaction to man’s mistake. But grace is not reactive; grace is proactive. Grace existed in the mind of God, nestled within the divine purpose, long before there was any man to sin or fall.
God is not a God who improvises. He is a God of preparation. He doesn’t start building the boat when the rain begins. He prepares Noah long before the first drop falls. Likewise, He didn’t start thinking about grace when Adam sinned. He had already established Christ as the Lamb “slain from the foundation of the world” (Revelation 13:8).
Before the world began… God had you in mind. And not just to exist — but to be redeemed, restored, and raised in Christ.
Grace Is the Nature of God’s Love Revealed
The world was born out of love, but it was grace that clothed that love in action.
Grace is what happens when love refuses to give up on the undeserving.
God, in His sovereignty, created a world knowing it would fall — and still He created it. That is grace. He allowed freedom, knowing it would be abused — and still He permitted it. That is grace. He planted the Tree of Life in Eden, but also the Tree of Knowledge — knowing man’s heart. That is grace woven with holy risk.
And even before the serpent hissed, God had already prepared a Seed to crush his head (Genesis 3:15). That Seed was Christ — Grace Incarnate.
We Were Saved Before We Were Born
How staggering is this truth?
“ In love He predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ… to the praise of His glorious grace.” (Ephesians 1:4–6)
God doesn’t wait to see how we’ll turn out before deciding to offer grace. He wrote your name in the Lamb’s Book of Life — not because you earned it, but because He loved you first (1 John 4:19).
That means you are not an accident. You are not a late addition to God’s plan. You are part of an ancient grace-story.
Before Time, Grace Dreamed of You
If grace was already “given to us in Christ before time began,” then God’s love story with you didn’t start on the day of your salvation. It started before light was spoken, before angels took flight, before the first heartbeat.
God saw your weakness — and chose you. God saw your failures — and called you. God saw your wounds — and provided healing.
And He did it all before you ever said “yes” to Him.
Closing Reflection
Grace is not just a New Testament doctrine. Grace is the oldest reality in the universe.
Before the Garden, there was grace. Before the fall, there was grace. Before you, there was a plan to save, sustain, and raise you in glory.
You are not saved by chance. You are Saved By Grace — the undeserved gift that changed everything, even before anything began.
Prayer:
The Ancient Gift
Eternal God, Before the stars were hung, You knew me. Before my breath began, You planned my redemption. Thank You for grace that predates my pain, Love that anticipated my failures, And mercy that met me before time was born.
Teach me to trust that I was never forgotten. Help me to rest in the truth that Your grace is older than my guilt. Let this eternal grace wash over me, And awaken a worship that echoes into eternity.
In the name of Jesus, who was, and is, and is to come — Amen.
“ Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned.” — Romans 5:12
If grace is the song of God’s heart, then sin was the silence that tried to drown it. If grace is light, sin was the shadow that crept across the soul of man. And in that moment — in the garden, with fruit still dripping from trembling fingers — humanity’s desperate need for grace was born.
This chapter is not about condemnation. It is about context. Because until we understand what we fell from, we cannot truly rejoice in what grace lifts us into.
The Fall Was More Than Disobedience — It Was a Disconnection
Adam and Eve didn’t just break a rule. They broke a relationship. They traded fellowship for fear, intimacy for isolation, and dominion for dust.
“ Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked…” (Genesis 3:7)
Suddenly, shame — a thing they had never known — became their reality. They ran, they hid, they covered. That is the legacy of sin: self-sufficiency, hiding, and blame.
But even then, grace was not absent.
God came walking. The offended One came seeking the offenders. That’s grace — even in judgment, God moves toward man.
Sin Entered, But Grace Was Ready
Paul writes, “Through one man, sin entered the world…” (Romans 5:12). That man was Adam. And with his fall, death, decay, and distance from God infected creation.
But just as sin entered, grace also entered — not as a backup, but as a rescue already written in eternity’s scroll.
“ Where sin abounded, grace abounded much more.” (Romans 5:20)
Adam’s failure opened the floodgate of sin. But Jesus — the second Adam — opened the floodgate of grace.
Why Grace? Because We Couldn’t Save Ourselves
Man didn’t just fall — man became fallen.
We lost:
Our purity
Our authority
Our divine fellowship
And we could not climb back up. No ritual, no effort, no offering from man could undo what sin had done.
That is why we needed grace — Because grace does what man cannot do: It reaches down when we can’t reach up.
Grace Is the Answer to the Fall’s Consequences
Shame — met by covering grace
Fear — met by welcoming grace
Separation — met by reconciling grace
Curse — met by redeeming grace
At the very moment Adam blamed and Eve wept, God spoke of a Seed that would crush the serpent (Genesis 3:15). That was the first whisper of the gospel — and the earliest echo of grace.
Even in Eden’s courtroom, God wrapped them in skins — a sacrifice was made, blood was shed. Grace covered what sin uncovered.
The Fall Created a Wound Only Grace Could Heal
The tragedy of the fall was not just about Adam and Eve. It was about you and me. We were in their loins, and when they fell, we were marked by that fall.
That’s why Paul says:
“ All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)
We were born fallen. But we are not born forsaken.
Grace stepped into the wound of humanity and said,
“ I will restore. I will rescue. I will redeem.”
Closing Reflection
Sin made us orphans. Grace made us sons. The fall declared us guilty. Grace declared us forgiven. The serpent offered lies. Grace offered life.
To see the beauty of grace, we must understand the depth of our need. And oh, how deep it was.
Prayer
Gracious Father, I acknowledge the fall — the ancient breach that echoes in every soul. I see my need — not just to be improved, but to be rescued.
Thank You for not turning away. Thank You for coming down to where I hid. Thank You for the grace that didn’t wait for me to climb back up.
Heal the wounds sin has left in me. Remind me that Your mercy speaks louder than my shame. Cover me, lift me, restore me — by the blood of Jesus.
In the name of the second Adam, Jesus Christ my Savior, Amen.
“ But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us… made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved.” — Ephesians 2:4–5
Ask a hundred Christians what grace is, and you’ll likely hear:
“ Grace is unmerited favor.” And while that definition is true, it’s only the surface of an ocean.
Grace is not just a divine handshake. It’s not a holy permission slip. It is the heartbeat of God’s rescue plan — the power, the pardon, and the presence of God reaching into our brokenness to lift us into His wholeness.
Grace is more than a concept. It’s a Person. Grace is Jesus in action.
The Meaning of Grace — Word by Word
The Greek word for grace is “charis”, meaning:
Favor that you didn’t earn
Blessing that you didn’t work for
Power that enables you to live differently
Grace is God giving you what you do not deserve, even when He knows exactly who you are.
“ For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” (John 1:17)
Under the Law: “Do this, or die.” Under Grace: “He did this, so you may live.”
Grace Is God’s Response to Our Helplessness
You didn’t just need a push — you needed a resurrection. Grace is not God helping the strong. Grace is God raising the dead.
“ Even when we were dead in sins, [He] made us alive together with Christ…” (Ephesians 2:5)
Grace doesn't make good people better. It makes dead people alive.
Grace Is More Than Forgiveness — It Is Empowerment
So many believers stop at grace as a get-out-of-hell card. But grace is not just pardon — it is power.
“ For the grace of God… teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness…” (Titus 2:11–12)
Grace:
Forgives your sin
Breaks your bondage
Restores your purpose
Empowers your walk
Sustains your soul
Grace is both the cleansing stream and the fuel for the journey.
Grace Is Jesus
Let us go beyond theory.
“ And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us… full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14)
Grace walked the streets of Galilee. Grace touched lepers, wept with sisters, fed the hungry, forgave the guilty, and prayed for His killers.
Grace is not just what God gives. Grace is who God is.
