She was dead.
The pastor spoke elaborate words over her mother’s coffin as she sat here between her stepfather and stepbrother. Now, these two were the only family she had. Her mom had been an only child and so was she. What would Leslie do if her stepfather didn’t want her around? Or if he remarried? She was pretty sure no new wife would want the competition of a stepdaughter from a previous marriage muddling things up.
What is wrong want to them? For months she tried to fight this attraction. Even going so far as to have a new boyfriend in the month. Hoping, that one would be able to keep her mind off of her daydreams and fantasies. But none worked. Every little touch from both her stepfather and her stepbrother made her think they desired her to. She masturbated to at least one or both of them in her thoughts. It was the only way she could get off.
Liam, her stepfather, looked only a few years older than her. He’d gotten his ex-wife pregnant when he was sixteen. Even though he was thirty-five, he looked like a college kid. And David, her stepbrother, had been flirting with her more and more for months. With both men giving her glances, longer hugs than was necessary before her mother had even died, she felt like she had two hot stepbrothers and imagined them not able to keep their hands to themselves when around her.
But Leslie had kept her desires secret and never told anyone. It was taboo…it was lustful…it was an obsession she couldn’t cure. Her mom had been the glue that held them together as a family, so what would happen now that she was gone? Would Liam throw her out? An eighteen-year-old orphan. She’d have to drop out of college and get a full-time job. Not that she minded that, but her mom had been a waitress when she met Liam. He owned businesses and took both her and her mother out on the town.
They got married after two months and her mom quit her job and went back to school to get her law degree. Leslie felt sorry for her stepdad as her mom went from being attentive to go into work early and leaving late. And that’s how the accident happened. Late night, her mom working as usual. Liam had offered to pick her up but she refused to say she was fine. It was the next morning when the cops came to the door. Her mom had died in a head-on collision with a drunk driver.
Here her mom wasn’t even in the ground and all Leslie could think about was sitting between her two male fantasies.
“Let’s have a moment of silence while each of us remember Mrs. Tyler and the light she showed,” the pastor said.
