As I lay on my bed, butt naked and trembling, about to give up my virginity to a much older man who insisted that I called him 'Daddy', I couldn't help but think back and ponder - how in the hell had it come to this?

Just a few short months ago I had been an average teen – average grades in high school, average social circle, average hobbies, average number of friend on facebook, average everything. I even had an average boyfriend, Paul, who was trying to persuade me to give up my virginity and have what would no doubt be extremely average sex with him. Not that I had any yardstick to measure his sexual prowess by, mind you.

Then, just days after my 18th birthday, my life had changed forever. At the time, I was sitting at the breakfast table opposite my mom, eating cornflakes.

“Lucy, I'm getting married” announced my mom, with no pre-amble whatsoever.

“Whaaaat?”

Or at least that's kinda the sound I made. I had a mouthful of milk and cornflakes at the time, most of which I had just sprayed over the table.

“I said, I'm getting married” she repeated.

“Yeah, mom - I heard what you said” I replied indignantly, still dripping milk. “I mean, like, you know... what the hell! I didn't even know that you had a boyfriend, let alone that a wedding was on the cards!”

“Well I do, and it is” replied my mom calmly, her tone suggesting that we were discussing nothing out of the ordinary, despite the bombshell she had just dropped.

“Well?” I demanded. “Who is he? And why the hell haven't you introduced me to him?”

“Don't you swear at me young lady” my mom scolded. “It's all happened so quickly that I haven't had a chance to bring him to meet you. But you've met him before, anyway. His name is Royce Daniels, and he's going to be your new daddy.”

Royce Daniels! Holy shit!

“Not the Royce Daniels?” I blurted out.

“The very same“ replied my mom, smiling proudly.

Royce Daniels! Now there was one name I had not expected to be romantically connected to my mom.
