The Chronicles of Undiscovered Worlds Under the Sea

The world of supernatural

To my beloved parents and my two beautiful sisters-Jim and Kaku. to all my readers and all the fiction writes.BookRix GmbH & Co. KG81371 Munich

Author's Note

I started working on this novel when I was sixteen. J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter, J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit, Bram Stoker’s Dracula and George R.R. Martin’s books inspired me to present my story to the reader’s world. While keeping all my thoughts into my mind, one day I wrote two poems and it got published in the daily newspaper which led me to think, why shouldn’t I write a story about the supernatural creatures I discovered. And that’s how I started writing the “Chronicles of Undiscovered Worlds under the Sea – The world of supernatural.”
I completed in two and a half year or so.

Introduction

Kender Marcello, a teenage boy who lived in the Island of Italy called Elba. An ordinary schoolboy who one day, after the school discovered an unusual situation in his house which was like his dreams and could not decide whether he was dreaming or was it happening in front of his eyes. He occurred to lose his consciousness steadily and quietly and fell on his knees as he could not set his foot forth. Someone from behind dragged him and flung into the Elba sea which was no less than throwing a coat across the desk. When Kender gained his, he discovered himself in some eerie forest where he met the most beautiful girl of his life, Donatella Damien and came across an undiscovered world under the sea. This world was totally unknown to the people of Earth. His life took a new turn when he met Donatella. Shortly, they bumped into the Giants Kingdom and the wardrobe shrouded them broke down and they tripped and stumbled down to another world. Unfortunately, Donatella was captured by the giants to fulfil a ritual and in her stay in the Giants Kingdom, she unearthed another secret of her life that she was a popular ‘Violet’ of the famous Violet family. On the other hand, Kender met Atticus, who helped him know his true self but Kender never believed that he was the last surviving Green. Greens and Violets are believed to be the oldest of supernatural families. Andrew Harington's coincidental encounter with Kender and Dona was marvelous and mysterious. He took them to Wands town and soon they were surrounded by werewolves, vampires, witches and other foreign creatures. Slowly but surely the mountain of secrets started unfolding. Unpredicted visit of Cyril brought devastation to all the twelve famous towns including Wands. He seized the council, the powerhouse of all the towns with the help of his followers.

Though Dona saved her mother from a glass prison, she had to surrender herself to Cyril to save Kender’s sister’s life. While invading the nearby houses transporting food to the ‘New World’, Kender and Atticus were dragged out to Dummer’s Do by some unknown foresters. Atticus never stopped searching for his sister though he lost her at a tender age and the fact that her body was never found he would not accept his sister’s death. His mother used to narrate stories relatable to them every night after their dinner –

This is my story but before I tell you my story, I want to ask you some questions. My first question is - do you believe in the existence of supernatural creatures? Trust me they are so liberally wandering in every town we know. I don’t want to scare you, but they may be your friend or any beautiful people you know… yes, they are amongst us…. Some people believe they are just monsters and not surprisingly they are, but they also have a heart like all of us, they feel as we do and feelings like love, loyalty, compassion,…all these bind them together to make them live with people they love and care. Of course, sometimes it’s them who worsened the situation and things happen like an unplanned death of a sibling but because of that you cannot punish them to death, he or she may be the last of the entire species. No one’s better than the other or perfect, everyone needs a second chance to prove themselves.

I believe they exist and if you don’t then let me tell you something - why people talk about spirits and those creepy stories? No one would have created hundreds of stories if they haven’t confronted any. Why some places on earth are filled with haunted? Don’t you think about wizards and witches? Well, I think, in some places in this world or another untouched by our research minds or any explorers, these extraordinary and magical creatures are living in utmost secrecy. I believe because I have met someone, and I will narrate to you their untold story. is not just about people, everyone lives to serve a reason. Evil lurks at night, even in daylight disguise under our nose and that is where we need the fantastic entry of our hero, an equally powerful being to end the evil and protect the innocent people and on the process you will definitely lose the people you love. People keep those things to themselves to protect their loved ones. You’ll know how hard they do to shield their loved ones. I’ll tell you what the true mystery is. I’ll show you the real world and the real heroes who saves our world every time an evil appears? Well, it is undoubtedly god but there are some others who are born to save the world from the demon’s grip. They are not normal beings. They are strained with powers, who are perhaps sent by god. They are people with gifted qualities and powers. Well, I love them, and I love to be around them because I’m one of them.

But I’ll start with when I was not one of them…. when all I knew about them is just bedtime stories but slowly, I started believing them since I met one of them.

But let me make one thing crystal clear that you should never go for them because there are consequences and they’ll hunt you down. You don’t have to go anywhere to find them because you have what you want. Read this story and find out the truth yourself. Here is the deal, before you read further. Do not go for them because you already have them.

Well, from the very beginning I was like any other boy living with my family in the most beautiful town, Portoferraio of the Island Elba, the Tuscan Archipelago in Italy. I was thirteen when my little sister Tiara was born and became a part of our family. We were the happiest family in the town. But some people cannot bear one’s happiness for long. One day when I was returning from school, I saw a huge crowd of people in front of my house. Usually, we used to have gatherings which are quite like Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. Society of Unexisted People of Elba are no different from Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society because people in Elba suspects in the existence of a society that never existed and one day some people questioned my father about the society's existence. My father had to lie to protect us as they were threatening to kill him and his family if he won’t agree to the existence of our society. Later to make it real and to keep in touch with the other families like us he gave birth to Society of Unexisted People of Elba. Some families in our town are different from others that we can do some things others cannot. I still don’t know what differences everyone used to gossip about. I only know some people are afraid of us and never mingled with us. Our parents were very cautious and highly secretive about their deeply sunken secrets. They used to meet every Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays either in the evening or at dusk. These meetings were very regular, and no member can spill a word about the discussions. The people in front of my house frightened me since we never had any gatherings in the Wednesdays because we strictly keep the Wednesdays to spend quality time with our family. I feared if my creepy dream was true which I’ve had for more than ten times. I could not decide whether I was dreaming or was it really happening in front of my eyes.

“Oh no, no, no. It’s not real. It can’t be. I know I’m crazy,” I cried out loud and sat on the ground seeing the crowd. I knew something was not right, but I had no courage to even crawl a few steps to reach my door because the same thought was conquering me repeatedly. At last, I lost my consciousness and fell on the ground. All I could remember is someone patting my back and running of someone’s very tiny and tender fingers through my hairs making me sleep. Suddenly I felt someone dragging me to the edge of the island Elba and flung me into it as though a coat was thrown across the desk. I could possibly remember anything when I gained my consciousness. Most surprisingly I found myself in some eerie forest of an unknown place. I tried to remember where I belong since I could not recognize the place. I was sure that place was undiscovered, untouched by any explorers. I jumped in joy that I discovered something new and my name will be there in the history of the world. I could not imagine this world was totally unknown to the people of Earth. I have never even imagined in my wildest dreams that a heaven will exist. The trees are different from Earth, it’s environed is unique and most of all, animals can talk. Yet I’m not sure whether the latter part is true, or it is just me imagining things in order to assure myself that I was the discoverer of this place. Suddenly when I was lying down, I felt something missing, I felt someone had seized the memory of my past seventeen years leaving me with a blank paper. I was pondering who saved me from water and left me in foreign forest.

“A new life now!” I scoffed and started singing with my gruff voice ‘A whole new world' of Zayn and Zhavia.

Instead of singing at least ten lines I was precisely repeating four-five lines and humming the rest. When I closed my eyes and pressed hard to remember what happened, only a blurry shadow of a women like figure appeared to take form which was frustrating and almost won in destroying my song and mind but the most outlandish thing was that I could barely recognize the woman. I cracked up and rolled on the grass in laughter thinking about the existence of loads of questions with no answers. I couldn’t stop cackling thinking about I was in a place I never belong to neither had I seen nor heard about or I had known where to go and what to do. Then I realized how hungry I was.

“And now I’m stuck here in this strange forest with wild animals and nothing to eat. What do I do to my hungry ass?” I said louder than ever as if I was announcing it to an unending crowd of people in front of me.

I sat on the grass comfortably hoping to get some help, but the worst thing was someone calling for my assistance instead of aiding me. Here, I’m starving for goddamn food and there somebody else is perhaps in need of the same.

“Hey stop screaming. How can I help you if I can’t help myself? Who knows for how long I’m sleeping here and thanks to almighty that no wild animal has paid me any visit yet,” I spoke to myself walking as a whisker with the feeling of climbing some stone stairs in a mountain? The outcry of the girl annoyed me as my hunger was arousing my anger. “Oh god. Is this the place where everyone shouts for help and food?

So, it’s the land of starvers and sufferers?”

She didn’t cease to call for help which was frustrating me, “Aye girl, stop it. Stop it. You’re certainly in hell, aren’t you? Poor girl!”

The view of an enormous, thousand years old tree ended my long and lanky anxiety specially when I was convinced the noise was coming from inside the tree. Her cries never for once made me think that the girl inside might need some help.

“Oh, a treehouse. At least now I’ll get something to eat.” I smiled, “Argh, the shouts again. This girl!!! Why on earth anyone just put something into her mouth.”

I walked towards the door of the treehouse in quick steps. Thankfully the door was unlocked, and I kicked it open and walked inside holding a wooden stick in my hand. Then I noticed the tree was full of green and violet apples which led me to another thought why she was not eating any of them if she was certainly hungry.

“Hello,” I said. “Hello. Anybody here.”

There was no response. I jerked on a sudden slithering of some cups from a table. I grabbed the poker firmly. While assuring my back, my leg settled on some chains. I stood still like a monument believing I had entered the right place to a lion’s den. Soon I would be a helpless, starving poor-prey, his luscious lunch on the other hand.

“I don’t want to become someone else’s food,” I whimpered.

“Hey please help me. Please help me get out of here.” Someone cried enabling me to breathe the lion-free air.

I had barely seen her. I chuckled catching a glimpse of her fear for me. As I went closer, she crawled back breathing heavily bending towards the wooden wall shutting her eyes begging not to touch her. I could barely catch sight of her as the shades of light from the candles lighted her beautiful face. I was drowning towards her by her angelic beauty that I almost forgot about my hunger. For a moment I kept staring thinking how on earth anyone could shackle an innocent girl in such a murky and horrifying forest alone without any guard. She was certainly left to die hardheartedly. A girl may be of my age or might be younger than me, an innocent child who could never hurt anyone was immobilized so cruelly in a place unattended by people. I walked back a few steps and said, “I’ll help you, okay. Believe me, I mean no harm to you. You can trust me. I won’t hurt you; I promise. I’m not like the one who has tied you here.”

Listening to which her smile marred somewhere, and her eyes covered with tears of fear. She blubbered, “I knew he would undeniably send someone to finish me off. I know you work for them and I also know why you are here.”

“I don’t understand anything neither I work for anyone,” I said sitting on my knees. “I don’t know whom you’re talking about. I just know you’re starving, and you need help.”

She gazed at my anodyne eyes and turned away sneezing when I tried breaking her chains since I did not have the keys. Then and there I noticed her failing breaths and I understood that she was in no position to fight anymore. Seeing her eyes indolently getting shut I lost my nerve, “Hey stay with me. I’ll find water and some food for you, okay. I’ll be back in a wink.”

I ran here and there in search of water and food. I rushed upstairs and unbelievably there was a kitchen. I walked in pushing the half-opened door and there stood a beautiful kitchen with all the modern bits and pieces in the middle of a forest. I prayed for some food. Gratefully, the refrigerator has some vegetables, five eggs and a bottle of red wine resting down near the forks stand on a table with unarranged things. I quickly fried three eggs in the pan I found and ran down the stairs with two bottles of water and the red wine. When I reached her, she was in her worst? I sat beside her and made her drink some water so that she could say something. She took the bottle from me and drank till not a drop was left in it. Soon after that she extended her hand to the plate of fried eggs rested awfully close to her, but she could not grab the plate as she was tied hard.

I only watched her.

“Argh.” she cried turning to me when I laughed, “Why are you laughing? Well, I’m pretty sure, now you’re finding this funny.”

“How can you go for that with those chains in your neck and hands?” I asked seeing her constantly failing attempts to get the plate.

“Remove these chains.”

“I won’t.”

“What? You told me you’ll get me out of here,” she said trying to stand but she was chained in a way that she could barely move. I chuckled reclining comfortably than before and said, “Well I changed my mind. I won’t until you plead me to help you.”

She said sitting back, “This is the most terrible place. Don’t you know that? We’ve to get out of here.”

“No description of the place.” I continued, “I think you’re the most terrible thing I have ever met.”

“No, you are not getting what I’m saying.”

“No, I’m. The most dangerous thing is that I have a prisoner with me.”

“I’m not a prisoner. You’ve to help me.”

“Still you’re not pleading.”

“Are you mad?”

“I’m mad thinking about your condition. I’m thinking why someone would tie such a little girl in such a dangerous forest without any guards.” I asked, “Did you do something?

“I didn’t do anything,” she replied, “How, can I answer if I don’t know why I am here?”

“You’re lying,” I said looking away from her.

“No, I’m not.” She said. “Wait. Let me ask you the same question. Why don’t you tell me why are you here? No one is that courageous to set a foot on this forest. Why you? People quiver at the thought of this forest. How come you are here?”

I could not tell her the real reason as no one would believe that.

“I was much curious about this forest. It’s kinky! You know curiosity can actually drag people to a forest like this too.” I knew I sound stupid, but I cannot tell her the truth as she would never believe me.

“So, you won’t unlock me if I won’t plead you.” I nodded and she said, “You’re absolutely wasting your time.

Please untie me.”

I somehow found a hammer and broke her chains. She stood up cleaning the dirt from her clothes.

“That was not so pleasing but WELCOME,” I added.

She smiled and extended her hands for the eggs, but I took the plate before she could and hurried towards the kitchen. She opened the door and I greeted her asking her to take a seat in the table and I forwarded the plate to her.

“Ahem.” She said, “Thank you.” I nodded and went further to cook two more eggs. She complimented.

“No thanks for now.” I nodded, “You can thank me later.”

She smiled and before I reached the table, she had finished her eggs and pushing her plate away, she was asleep on her hands on the table. I placed my omelet in another plate and sat down opposite to her. In the meantime, I was drowsy and yawning. I woke up when my head banged on the table.

“Let’s go downstairs,” I said shyly and waited for her to leave the room. She was asleep as soon as she settled down in the bed. I wasn’t fully asleep as I had the same dream of a lady whom I had never seen nor I heard about, who was trying to make me sleep and that felt more real than a dream. I jumped from the couch opening my eyes hearing someone screaming, panting and panicking. She was crying and I could barely see anyone crying in front of me. I walked out of my quilt towards her and hugged her consoling that she had a nightmare, a bad dream.

“I can never get out of all these, can I?” she asked with her face turning red. I understood what she was going through, but I was not aware of what was making her so terrified.

“Of course, you will. You have to be strong.” I said patting her hairs. “You have had a bad dream, okay. Now get some sleep otherwise you won’t be able to walk tomorrow.

We have a long and busy day to work.” She didn’t say anything.

“Well, you said this forest is extremely hazardous, so we have to get out of here as soon as possible,” I said putting a quilt over her.

“No, I can’t sleep.”

“Why not?” I asked, “Come on, you aren’t a kid.”

“I’m scared.” She said crying again, “Those dreams won’t let me sleep. I cannot do it anymore. I’m so scared.”

“Don’t be scared.”

“These dreams will kill me.”

“Hold on, you haven’t told me your name,” I asked,

“What should I call you? I’m Kender. Kender Marcello.”

“Donatella,” she said though her mind was elsewhere, “Donatella Damion.”

“Such a sweet name,” I said, “So, do you know this place?”

“No, I have never been here before,” She said. “Everyone is troubled by the name of this forest. This is the most horrible place in this world.”

I nodded and she said again, “People rarely visit this place. I don’t understand what brings you here.”

“I came to rescue you, princess D.” We both laughed and I agreed when she gave me a serious look, “Okay I’m kidding. I don’t know why I am here too.”

“So, how are you here, Mr. Fearless?” She was curious.

“Argh…you have already asked too many questions. You want to know how.” I sighed, “Actually I woke up here a few hours ago and I couldn’t remember anything with whom I was or where I was before I woke up.”

“Don’t you belong to this place?”

“I don’t know,” I said. “I’ve no idea about this place. I don’t know if I belong here or not.” She nodded and looked confused, so I asked her, “What about you?” Who brought you here?”

“That’s a long story.” She said shushing me, “Wait, did you hear that?”

“Hear what?” I asked.

“I told you. It’s a very dangerous place. We should…” She grabbed me and together we stepped silently towards a properly furnished wooden wardrobe stood in the west corner of the room to hide us from whatever is succeeding. I have seen people hiding in wardrobes in movies, but never have I ever fancied hiding in one of them. She pinched me asking me not to laugh. There was a tiny hole in the door of the wardrobe, and I peeped to see what was going on outside, what was truly making her so terrified. “There is no one I can see,” I whispered seizing a glimpse through the hole to know what was distressing her.

“And yet you’re whispering,” She said in an angry tone.

“Okay then let’s go out,” I said anxiously.

“Don’t you dare do that,” She held me back by my arms, “You can go wherever you want but first let everything get out of this dwelling. I won’t make you stay; I promise.”

I sneak a look around the room a minute later and everything was calm and quiet. I almost opened the door when she grabbed me back and said clenching her teeth, “Didn’t you see them? You want to die.”

She pointed out of the wardrobe and I shivered at the very sight of the pack of people waiting outside. I started panicking, my mouth and neck dried up; my stomach felt emptied seeing a huge gang of giants waiting for us impatiently. I hugged her not letting her watch them coming towards us.

“Oh god,” I gasped thinking how many more to come. It was impossible to even think of escaping the giants. I felt like my heart halted, freezing my hands and feet when one of them walked towards us with many weapons conceivably to kill us. When his footsteps were reducing towards us, I hugged her tight as if I was hugging my mother hoping she could save me, rather I felt her restlessness, she hastened breaths, and of course her tears. However, she was strong. Although she was scared, she remained quiet instead of crying out in fear. I shut my eyes and start counting seconds for our death. Fortunately, for god’s sake, he didn’t open the door. Had he opened the wardrobe we were dead by blades in our throats. The most unlikely thing happened was the invasion of the red wine I saved for later. I wanted to go out and hit that bastard so hard that he won’t ever touch my things. Their sharing of my wine made me the angriest person in the world. I whisper toed men her ears that they stole my wine bottle and gulped all my favorite wine, “I’ll not withstand this.”

“No nous!” She held me back, “Have you lost your mind?”

I felt things slipping and the one who took my wine bottle threw it to the wardrobe we were hiding and suddenly, I went pale and cold and started trembling. I thought one of them saw us and would come to us but fortunately, the one who went inside for information came out informing that he got nothing, and their leader decided to leave. The whole horrible folk went away as soon as their head man left the room. The door was shut behind them providing us with a great heave of relief.

“Hey,” I shook her, “They are gone.”

When she was about to say something, the wooden cover where we were standing started cracking and she cried, “OH my god. Oh my god. What’s happening? We are falling down, aren’t we?” She glued her hands in mine, “Are we going to die.”

“No, no we are not,” I continued shaking heavily, “I think we are going to die. We are...”

The wooden cover of the wardrobe we were standing cracked and we fell before I could complete my sentence. When I look around, we were in a prison cell.

“Help. Hello.” She cried, “Anyone there?”

“Hey, hey calm down.” I said, “Of course someone will be here, otherwise who will plan such a thing. I can’t believe such a place can also exist under a tree.” She was curious about the place.

“Who knows how many worlds exist in this universe or perhaps how many universes are there?” I assumed.

“So, we must get out of here,” She said and started kicking the door harder.

“Have you lost your mind?” I said sitting more comfortably, “No matter how much you try, you can’t get out of here and I think it’s better if we stay here.”

“What?”

“Who knows whose cell is this?” I said. “Might be the giant like people’s house, so stay quiet.”

She sat alongside me as my little sister always do when she feared something or when dad used to scold her. Then I recalled, about whom I was thinking or how she was with me and who was she. I couldn’t understand what was happening. Everything was so calm and quiet. I thought she was resting in my arms, but she wasn’t. While I was buried in my thoughts I didn’t realize when my shirt got wet.

“Hey,” I gazed at her, “You are crying. You remembered me of someone, but I can’t recall….”

“I want to get out of here,” She blubbered preventing me from talking.

“You aren’t alone. I’m here with you,” I whispered.

“No, no we are definitely not alone.” She held her head high, “There is someone here. Someone has just entered.”

“No, you are just assuming,” I supposed. “I didn’t hear anyone D.”

“No Kender, believe me, there is someone here. I heard footsteps approaching.”

“Are you…” She was precise and someone just crossed the threshold and said, “So, I’ve visitors today.”

The ma just entered was wearing a hat and was changing his clothes, so we did not get a glance of him. From his appearance, he looked like a hunter. A smart ass, I thought. He was wearing a tight leather jacket and an overcoat which almost covered his ankle. As he put his coat down and then his jacket, I could see his six feet tall, big muscular body moving towards a table. We couldn’t see his face because he was wearing a hooded jacket and a mask which almost covered his face. He was so occupied that he barely looked at us. His weapons were unique. He had plenty of weapons. He can surely kill giants with those weapons. What is he? A big bad boy, I thought still gaping at him with my mouth half-open.

“He’s not one of them,” I said quickly.

“He might be an ally,” she whispered.

“No, I’m not a giant neither their ally,” he said with a calm and strong voice.

“How can he hear us?” she asked.

“As you do,” I said, and he turned to us. He removed his mask and rested his eyes on her.

“He’s looking at us.” She squeezed my hand while I was examining him. He was looking at her as if she was his lost child.

“He's looking at you.” I whispered, “Did you do something D?”

“No, I didn’t do anything.” She said pinching me, “Say something to him.”

“Ahem,” I interrupted.

“So how you got here?” he asked.

Neither I nor she uttered another word. He poured some wine in a very beautiful goblet offering if we wanted some. I imagined myself sipping from that goblet relaxing in a couch. I was in my fantasy world when he stood in front of me with another goblet of wine. She smacked me to wake up. I was thinking to take or not to take.

“Ah boy, what on earth are you thinking?” he said extending the goblet, “Sometimes a dream can be true.”

“Is he crazy?” I murmured

“I can still hear you,” he said turning away from us.

“He doesn’t want your wine,” she said clutching my fingers. “He would rather love to have the key to this stupid lock.”

“Ahhhh sweet girl,” he continued. “Don’t be restless. We haven’t had a conversion yet.”

“Oh god, you two got the same eyes, don’t you? I thought she was the only one who had those beautiful a rare pair of eyes.” I was surprised.

“Do you guys know each other?” I asked again.

“No, no I don’t know him,” she said abruptly, and the man moved toward us to identify her and she stepped back.

“How did you get here?” he asked.

“I heard her crying for help and so I walked inside the treehouse and she was…” I looked away, “She was…”

“I was cleaning that treehouse,” she interrupted and said looking outside the window.

“What do you mean by cleaning the treehouse, huh?” he cross-examined, “People walk thousand-yard away from that forest,” she interrupted.

She kept quiet.

“Don’t be silly girl,” he muttered. “Why don’t you start with how you opened the door?”

“I was walking around and I saw an open door and I entered,” she invented an impractical tale which she could use to make a baby sleep whereas no one else would believe in her fairy tales, so I looked at her with curiosity and then to see his facial expression. I would make a fascinating story, I thought. I knew he would never be satisfied with her well-made bluffing story.

“Aren’t you curious?” He looked at me and said brusquely, “You both are hiding something from me.”

“No, no,” she said sharply. “And even if we do, why should we tell you? I mean, you are still a stranger, don’t you? We don’t know you.”

“Why are you panicking and sweating?” he asked gently ignoring what she said.

“Oh, am I?” seeing the whole attention on her she said observing her fingernails, “I’m not.”

She felt nervous when we laughed aloud. As his goblet went empty, he stood up and walked towards the fireside table to refill his goblet. This time his wine was different. He was quite a rich fellow, I suppose. I kept him under my surveillance and noted her staring him for long minutes.

“Hey, he’s an intelligent fellow,” I said shortly. “You shouldn’t lie to him.”

“I know I have lied,” she said harshly, “But how do I tell him?”

The word truth almost burst out of my mouth.

“We are in his prison; don’t you get that?” she whispered grumpily. “We can’t believe him, can we?”

While she was conversing with me, I shortly noticed him smiling alone, only then I dredged up that he can hear long distance matters. I put a finger on her lips to be quiet pointing him. We forgot he could hear us. He immediately realized our silence and turned back to us abruptly. He sat down on his warm couch and closed his eyes relaxing.

“Hey,” I said sitting opposite to her, “why do you think he was angry?”

“I don’t know,” she said watching the rage of the fire.

“You don’t have to lie to him?” Though I was annoying, I asked again, “What will happen if you tell him the truth?”

“He’s not like you,” she looked at me, “Do you think he’ll believe me.”

“I think so.” I said.

“Well, I was scared if he was with them,” she wept.

“Hey, come here,” I said extending my hand. When I was back to my thoughts again, she was already asleep in my arms. I had no idea how to get out of the prison cell?

Placing his goblet in the flower-pot table he walked towards us, opened the gate, lifted her from me asking me to leave the cell before the real evil trapped there and ripped our heads. He was of course trying to frighten me, but he was indeed correct.

“Hey, lock the door and leave the keys there,” he said pointing a place near the fireplace to keep the keys. I did as he said. Then I followed him. He took her to the bed and put a quilt over her and walked out asking me to close the door if I didn’t want to rest. I decided to steal a look round the house. We came back to the fireplace. I lounged on the daybed and he offered me a glass of wine. Essentially, time for me to enjoy some sips of wine has come and well, she’s not around to stop me and I was certainly dying for a sip.

“What are you gaping at?” he asked keeping a glass for me on the table, “Drink if you want to. No one is watching you.”

“Thank you,” I smiled taking a sip and gulping it unwillingly as I could not put my whole trust on him.

“Who are you?” I asked taking another sip as the first sip didn’t cause any trouble.

“Well …. I’m a hunter,” he said once looking at me and back to a picture hanging on the wall in front of us, which was of another stunning lady.

“Whom do you hunt?” I was curious to know. I shouldn’t be because I have no idea what he is, and god knows what he may turn out to be.

“You have lots of questions, don’t you?” he smirked taking quick sips from his jug.

“These weapons are more than enough to kill animals.”

“I don’t hunt animals,” he said gulping a sip from his drink, “I hunt those people who had encountered you yesterday.” I barely understood him but didn’t say anything.

“That tree house door was locked for years. Of course, it can be opened by some people.” He said, “Look, I don’t want to talk about that shit.”

I said nothing nor did I look upon him. He stood up to pour some more wine when we heard Dona screaming.

As we reached her door, she was pressing her stomach.

“What happened? “I asked.

“Argh…” she blubbered out of pain.

“Oh God. She’s bleeding.” I cried.

He ran towards a drawer, took out an aid box asking me to open the bottle of his custom-made medicine, while he was putting the clean piece of white cloth around the wound.

“What happened?” he asked taking the bottle of liquid from me. “It’ll hurt a bit, shall I?”

“No, don’t put that,” she cried. “I’m not used to that.”

“Believe me,” he said, “this will hurt you more if you don’t let me help you.”

“Listen to him,” I assured, “it won’t hurt you.”

“It’ll take the pain away from you.” He assumed, “You’ll feel nothing.”

“Hold her hands,” he whispered in my ears smiling at her, but she wasn’t that easy.

I sat next to her to bring her in my arms so that she would not go mad while applying that medicine. I was aware of that medicine. It can certainly take away one’s pain, but it can be unbearable on using so and only some rare skin can bear the pain and I was not sure if she was rare, unless it was fearsome. I had seen people using this type of medicine but not much of them could bear it. So Iwas apprehensive of the thought what would happen next. She stared at both of us like a poor helpless kid, who had thousands of complains but did not say anything. Her condition struck me and drew me from the current situation … Why did I say I had seen people? Who were those people I was talking about? Why can’t I remember anything?

“Argh, please don’t,” she cried again and again which successfully pulled me back to her.

Slowly I felt distortion in front of me and someone again appeared snappishly whom I could barely recognize. Then I saw myself holding a little girl in my arms and a doctor was sitting next to her opening an aid box. I told myself that I was dreaming and startled at Dona’s scream.

“Where were you?” he looked angry.

She’s not rare, I thought as I saw tears in her eyes.

“It’s alright dear.” I supposed, “It’ll take all your pains away, I promise.”

She all over again made me recall something I could never hark back to and I knew the whole kit and caboodle has something to say. I need to fix my past to design my future, and to provide a fair treatment to the one who made me forgot everything, who didn’t even care in making me forget about my mother. I came back to my senses panicking at her cries and his terrible scolding. I understood that her cries will draw me back to my unbelievable and faithless past again, so to help her with her pains and his scolding I kissed her and he easily put that medicine in her wound. When he was done applying it, he smiled at me and I felt uneasy for what had just happened. She was feeling uncomfortable too, so I said, “I’ll be waiting outside.”

“Ahem,” she cleared her throat nodding and stood at the threshold smiling, “Thank you. You were right. It didn’t hurt much, and I felt no pain.”

“What?” I was knocked at her six, “Are you sure your pains are gone? How could that be possible?”

“I prepared that medicine,” he said abruptly.

I left the room first and I heard him asking her to come to the kitchen. She walked with his help and in the midway he asked me to help her to the kitchen. I lend a hand to help her close by and pulled out a chair for her to sit. He was cooking and from the smell I can say, how luscious food he was preparing. He put the cold cuts, grilled cheese and tomato soup with salad on the table in an organized style.

“I love cold cuts,” she exclaimed.

He smiled as she started eating the cold cuts first.

He brought some more CC.

“Lip-smacking,” I expressed.

“What’s this place?” she asked.

“Before that let me know your name.”

“I’m Donatella Damien,” she said. “I live in Donava with my grandmother.”

He nodded as he already had firsthand information about her but pretended the opposite and asked me about mine.

“It is very strange about me. For all intents and purposes, I woke up last night in a forest with thick trees dying in hunger trying to figure out about the place, but haplessly, I remember nothing,” I said. “I only have a strange dream and that’s what I remember. I’m pretty sure my new life is already in full swing when I woke up the previous night.”

“No worries, boy. Time will come when you’ll remember the whole shebang,” he said. Seeing our probing and unsatisfied faces he said again, “There are many unanswerable questions.”

“You are frolicking kids. What about some fun outside?” he said pushing his chair back to stand up, “What about a hunt.”
