Truth Or Dare

CHAPTER 1

“How dare you say that to a woman”

“What what did you expect me to say?”

“I didn’t expect you to call me a flat-chested hairy banana”

“Well if I didn’t call you that then what else would I call you? We have been on the ship for over five days now and I am beginning to be very hungry. I’m just waiting for us to be rescued off this godforsaken cruise”

“Well, I’d appreciate if you didn’t call me names especially food items, I don’t know if you’re a carnivore or not”

“If I was a carnivore, you would be gone two days ago. Can I please just get some sleep without you yapping in my ear?”

“Yes, yes. Go get some sleep, I’ll keep a lookout for any passing ships and don’t worry I won’t set off the flare gun prematurely like I did last time we saw a commercial airliner jet flying above”

“Great, sounds good”

I watched him go back under the shaded area of the boat and I sat there plotting how mean he was to myself. I held that flare gun out and almost felt like I wanted to just shoot him with it. I knew that would be a bad idea though considering it would start a fire on our little life raft and potentially pop it and we would both be at the mercy of whatever sharks and other crazy creatures are in the bottom of the sea. I really wish that we weren’t alone survivors of our boat crash, but I am thankful that he was able to pull me out from my unconscious state when the boat crashed into Iraq and put me on life raft. It’s just that over the last five days he has been so annoying since then and I’m not sure why. I don’t know why he saved me if he just planned on being mean to me the whole time.

I don’t know when we’re going to be rescued from this situation we are currently in but I hope sooner rather than later. Our 5 gallon jug of water that he was able to save is about halfway done already.

The sun was burning and my skin was very chapped and burns pretty bad. I would give anything for one of those suntan lotion packets that they hand out at the local Walmart where I worked before.

As I kept a lookout looking for ships off the horizon line I didn’t see any and I was beginning to get really dizzy because we hadn’t eaten in two days. I ended up drifting off into a nap.

“Hey”

I open my eyes and saw him right above me with a smile on his face looking down above me. I had a feeling he was about to yell at me for falling asleep on my shift when I should be looking out. But instead he had a calm demeanor about him. It was almost as if the first time I woke up from my unconscious state that I saw him. I felt like he was the genuine guy I saw who saved me again. All that nasty bitterness must have worn off during his nap. Actually glazed up into his eyes and smiled back.

“Hey, I’m sorry that I fell asleep during my shift. In accord it’s okay I’m sure there was no boats or anything passing by. Besides, we both need a rest and there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to get rest also. I’m not mad at you. And also sorry about before when I was so bitter calling you those names. I’m just really cranky with the situation and I hope you truly understand that I’m not a mean guy and that’s not who I am.”

“I know, I know. We all get a little worked up sometimes. I’m sorry to for being so angry all the time and bitter back at you. We really have to work together for can get out of this thing alive. Unicorn agreed. Here some water, it looks like you’re dehydrated from your nap.”

He handed me the jug of water and I helped myself to the fugal pulls and swished it around my mouth as to make the water last longer and keep my mouth from the burning drought that it was most of the time. I knew that I could easily finish the whole jug of water in one sitting but that would definitely most assuredly kill us quicker.

“Well, now that were on the same page, how about a little game?”

“A game?”

“yes a game, it’s a game called truth or dare, I’m sure you’ve heard of it before right?”

“Yes! Of course I’ve heard of it, why would we play that though?”

“Well, can you think of anything better to do to pass the time?”

“Okay, good point. I’ll go first truth or dare?”

“Truth”

“Okay, where are you born?”

“I was born in Kansas City. Truth or dare?”

“Dare.”

“What is the first thing you are going to eat when we find safety and rescue?”

“Probably a big tub of popcorn with extra butter. I used to have that all the time growing up in Missouri and my grandma used to make that for me, she used to put so much butter on it I don’t know if there was more butter or popcorn. Ha ha”

“That’s funny.”

“Okay, truth or dare?”

“Truth”

“Okay, what would you do if I made a move on you?” I said as I smiled at him jokingly.
