Raizama

The Raizama River, with its 120-meter-high waterfall (private property, entrance fee, guided tour, closed ”Cerrado” savanna/bushland), offers a variety of bathing facilities, consisting of a series of waterfalls of the Rio San Miguel in a rocky ravine near the National Park Chapada. The unique hiking trail downstream to the waterfall to meet the river Rio São Miguel allows a very nice view of the river`s canyon as well as various possibilities for bathing in natural pools. 3.5 km from the town of São Jorge (GO-239). A place to relax, in the midst of the incredible nature of the huge park. Several hiking trails are available, including high difficulty levels. Climbing in the waterfall is offered; some are difficult to access with hiking trails of high difficulty exist.

All around, more waterfalls, so short hiking tours are also possible, as well as abseiling and camping.

Also not to be despised and available in the whole region: arts and crafts, textiles, jewelry and homemade food like cheese, honey, cachaça brandy and much more.

Nature Spectacle Vale da Lua - the Valley of the Moon

Vale da Lua is located outside of the Parque Nacional da Chapada dos Veadeiros, in a valley of the Serra da Boa Vista (17 km driving distance of the São Jorge, 5 km of linear distance or 9 km of hiking trails) and Alto Paraíso (11 km of air line) / GO (incoming by the GO-239 motorway, 420 km away from Goiania).

One of the most beautiful places in Brazil is the "Vale da Lua" in the "Chapada dos Veadeiros" national park, Alto Paraíso de Goiás, Serra da Boa Vista in the state of Goiás. 365 hectares, with original Cerrado vegetation (savanna/bushland) reminds incredibly of a moonscape with craters, funnels, rapids, waterfalls and rivers. Accessible via an unpaved descending road to the national park. You pay a small fee at the entrance (currently 20 reais). At the entrance there are guides ("guias"), which can be rented for about 10 to 15 reais; But this is not absolutely necessary. Visits during the rainy season are very dangerous because of the slippery stones, sudden rainfalls and immense water masses. In the photos you can see very well how big the stones and how deep the waters are.

This is almost inaccessible when it rains. Through the erosion of the Rio San Miguel, these unusual stone formations were created, reminding of the craters of the moon. Experts say that molding has lasted more than 600 million years. In the park there are numerous exotic natural pools where you can also swim. Several waterfalls together form about 500m, including the world-famous waterfall bridal veil “cachoeira veu da noiva”, which is absolutely worth seeing. The actual waterfall “Cachoeira dos Cristais” crystal waterfall is 20 m high, located in the Serra do Cristal, between the rivers São Francisco and Doce.

This is an ideal area for nature and photo fans! Here nature is manifested in all its beauty and strength; actually one can almost speak of natural forces. Climbing is very beautiful, breathtaking and sometimes even dangerous. I think you should never go off alone in this area! You can also camp in the nature park, and radical sports are offered as well. This "destination" is one of the most visited places of this famous region and declared UNESCO World Natural Heritage. You can already see how valuable this spot is. Watch it as long as it still exists!

Currently, the entire "estate" is sold for around 5 million euros. If someone wants to join the auction in the internet ...
