It's a beautiful, sunny day in Savannah, Georgia, and a young girl named Savannah Goodwin is gazing out her bedroom window at the beautiful garden in her grandma Theodora’s backyard. Savannah loves her grandma’s garden, because it’s like a fun jungle. It has so many spectacular, stunning plants like Weeping Willow trees and bushes covered in beautiful, rainbow-colored roses. The roses look like they were created by a unicorn. Savannah can’t help but look at her grandma’s garden closer and explore it, because it is just so breathtaking.
Savannah goes into her grandma’s backyard and looks so excited, because the backyard is lined in Weeping Willows. There’s a long line of Weeping Willows on both sides of the backyard. There’s also a long line of bushes, covered in rainbow-colored roses, in between the long lines of Weeping Willows. Savannah knows she is going to have so much fun in her grandma’s backyard.
All of a sudden, Savannah grabs a handful of tree limbs, on a Weeping Willow, with each hand and starts hanging from the Weeping Willow and laughing. Then she starts swinging from tree to tree like she’s on Monkey Bars. Savannah grabs a handful of tree limbs on each tree, as she swings down the line of trees. Savannah’s having so much fun.
When Savannah reaches the end of the line of Weeping Willows, she sees something she has never seen before. A glass house filled with beautiful bright turquoise and bright pink butterflies flying around. Since she’s never seen anything quite like it before, she calls it a Butterfly Garden. Savannah has never seen something so beautiful, and she decides to go into it.
Just before Savannah opens the door to the Butterfly Garden, her grandma Theodora comes from behind her and stops her. Then she tells Savannah to be careful when she opens the door, because she doesn’t want any of the butterflies to escape. Savannah tells her grandma that she’ll be very careful. Theodora is so relieved to hear that.
Savannah opens the door very slowly. All of a sudden, as Savannah’s opening the door, all the butterflies fly very quickly to the door and just stop. It’s like they can’t wait for Savannah and Theodora to come inside. Savannah and her grandma can sense the butterflies’ love for them, and it makes them smile.
When Savannah and Theodora come into the Butterfly Garden, they make sure to close the door behind them. When the door is closed, the butterflies start flying around so gracefully. It’s like they’re putting on a show for Savannah and her grandma. Savannah and Theodora can’t help but stare.
Savannah and her grandma are suddenly overwhelmed with love for the butterflies, and they both blurt out the words “I love you!” to the butterflies. That’s when the butterflies respond by putting on the show of a lifetime. They form the shape of a heart and keep the heart shape as they’re flying. Theodora captures the once-in-a-lifetime moment on her phone. She takes a photo while the butterflies are still flying in the heart shape.
When Theodora looks at the photo, she sees something amazing in it. Theodora doesn’t see the shape of the butterflies in the photo, but she sees a bright turquoise and pink outline of a heart where the butterflies are flying. Theodora, in excitement, says, “Come here, Savannah! I have something amazing to show you!” Savannah hurries and comes to her grandma. Then she looks at her grandma’s phone and sees the photo of the turquoise and pink outline of a heart. Savannah says, “That’s so cool.” Then she tells her grandma to film the butterflies, while they’re still flying in a heart shape, and post it online. Theodora absolutely loves her granddaughter’s idea. Theodora films the butterflies flying in a heart shape, and the butterflies continue to fly like that for another few minutes. Savannah and Theodora are so happy that they have a video of it.
Theodora tells Savannah that she has something special for her waiting in the kitchen. Savannah claps her hands, in excitement, and runs back into the house. Theodora chases her granddaughter back into the house, and she also feels excited. When Theodora’s in the house again, she walks in the kitchen, and Savannah runs up to her and gives her a big hug. Then Savannah thanks her for the cherry cola slushy and the plate of chocolate chip cookies, and she tells her grandma how cherry cola slushies are her favorite drink and chocolate chip cookies are her favorite food ever, especially Theodora’s cookies. Savannah continues to tell Theodora that her cookies are her favorite food on Earth, Mars, Venus, Saturn, and all the other planets in the solar system.
Savannah tells her that she always wondered why she was so happy and why her cookies were the most delicious things that she’s ever eaten. Savannah asks Theodora why she’s always so happy and why her cookies always taste better than anything else that she’s ever eaten. Theodora tells her that she can't answer those questions, because it’s a secret. Savannah asks her grandma why it’s secret, and Theodora tells her that it’s because she's scared that she'll be judged for it. Once Savannah hears that, she is overwhelmed with compassion for her grandma and hugs her. Then she tells her grandma that she loves her so much, with tears in her eyes. Theodora tells Savannah that she loves her too, as she hugs her.
Theodora walks off and walks up the spiral staircase to get to her bedroom. Savannah watches her grandma as she walks into her bedroom and closes the door. Savannah thinks her grandma closed her bedroom door, because she wants to be left alone, but it's not that. It has to do with her secret.
Once Theodora is in her bedroom, she walks to her mirror and starts saying, "I am so happy" repeatedly into the mirror, and she becomes happy again. Theodora leaves her bedroom with such a big smile on her face, and she continues to smile as she walks back to Savannah. Savannah is so happy to see her grandma smiling, and she runs up to her grandma and gives her a big hug. Then she asks her how she became happy so quickly. Theodora tells Savannah that she can’t tell her how, because it’s a secret. Then she apologizes to Savannah for not being able to tell her her secret. Savannah tells her that it’s okay, and she understands. Then she hugs her grandma and tells her that she loves her. Theodora tells Savannah that she loves her too.
