Allow this light to gently penetrate your body, first filling your brain, clearing your thoughts, bringing peace and lucidity. Let the light descend through your throat, relaxing it, and continue to your heart, warming it with love and compassion. Feel this golden light filling your entire chest, dissolving any feelings of anguish, fear, or doubt. The light continues to descend, enveloping your abdomen, your hips, your legs, until it reaches the tips of your feet. You are completely immersed in this radiant energy. Now, visualize this same golden light expanding from you, forming a luminous cloak that completely surrounds you. This is your cloak of initial consecration, a symbol of your pure intention to seek divine wisdom and dedicate yourself to the service of the Light.

Remain in this visualization for a few minutes, feeling protected, blessed, and connected with the higher spheres. Feel the loving and tutelary presence of the celestial hierarchies around you. When you feel ready, breathe deeply once more, bringing your awareness back to your physical body and your surroundings. Open your eyes slowly, carrying with you the sensation of peace and the luminosity of this experience. This exercise can be repeated whenever you feel the need to reconnect with your vocation and purify your intentions, serving as a constant reminder of the sacred path you have chosen to tread.

The journey of Angelic Magic, therefore, is not merely an esoteric study, but a slow edification of the soul, where every thought, emotion, and action must be weighed in the light of a higher ethic. Next, and permeating all creation, are the Angelic Choirs, myriads of beings of light who serve as messengers, guardians, and executors of the divine will on multiple planes of existence. This structure, from the One to the Choirs, does not imply rigid separation, but a cascade of emanation, where the light and life of the Creator diffuse and specialize into diverse degrees and functions, forming a cohesive and interconnected whole. Understanding this model is fundamental for the practitioner, as it situates their quest and practices within a larger context, revealing Angelic Magic as a way of consciously interacting with the different levels of this sacred hierarchy.

Angels, within this worldview, play an essential and dynamic role. Far from being mere symbolic or allegorical figures, they are conceived as active intelligences, conscious beings that mediate between the divine plane and the manifested worlds. They are the "messengers" par excellence, transmitting creative impulses, inspiration, warnings, and aid to those who open themselves to their influence. As intermediary intelligences, angels bridge the apparent abyss between the transcendence of the One and the immanence of creation, serving as living bridges that connect heaven and earth. They are, so to speak, the nerves and arteries of the cosmic body, ensuring that divine life circulates and manifests in every corner of the universe.

Besides their communicative role, angels are divine agents in the universal order, each, or each choir, entrusted with specific aspects of the maintenance and evolution of reality. They sustain the laws of nature, inspire the arts and sciences, protect individuals and nations, and guide souls on their journey of return to the Source. Their action is vast and multiform, adapting to the needs of each situation and each being. For the student of Angelic Magic, recognizing angels as real and active presences is a transformative step, which shifts the practice from a purely mental exercise to a living and responsive dialogue with the sacred. This understanding fosters respect and reverence, attitudes indispensable for fruitful collaboration with these exalted intelligences.

To aid in internalizing this cosmic structure, the contemplation of schematic illustrations that could visually represent these spheres of light would be of great value. Imagine a diagram where, at the highest point, a circle of dazzling light symbolizes the One, the source of all. From this center, rays or waves would emanate, expanding downwards, forming concentric spheres or distinct levels. The first great sphere below the One could represent the domain of the Olympic Spirits, perhaps with symbols or seals identifying them individually, arranged to indicate their interconnection and subordination to the Supreme Will. Below these, multiple layers would represent the various Angelic Choirs, from those closest to the Divine Throne to those whose missions unfold more directly on the planes of form. Lines of connection and flows of light between these spheres would indicate communication and hierarchical interdependence. Such a representation, even if simplified, would help fix in the student's mind the vastness and order of the spiritual universe.

Complementary to this external visualization, an exercise of inner visualization is proposed: the journey through the Celestial Tree. Sit comfortably, breathe deeply, and allow your consciousness to quiet. Visualize yourself at the base of an immense and luminous tree, whose roots delve deep into the fertile earth of material existence, but whose trunk rises majestically towards the heavens. This is your starting point. Begin to ascend mentally through this Celestial Tree. Each sturdy branch you reach, each level of light you traverse, represents an ascending layer of reality, a more subtle sphere of consciousness. Feel the energy of each level, perceive the luminous qualities that characterize it. Leave behind the worries of the everyday world as you climb, feeling lighter and more connected to the essential. Visualize the Angelic Choirs as luminous presences inhabiting these different heights, some dedicated to guardianship, others to wisdom, others to unceasing praise. Continue your ascent, passing through spheres of power and majesty where you would intuit the presence of the great Olympic Spirits, regents of cosmic laws. Your ascent is constant, serene, driven by the longing to know and commune with the Divine. Finally, after traversing countless layers of light and wisdom, you glimpse the summit of the Celestial Tree, which opens to a space of indescribable brilliance, where the presence of the Divine Throne is felt as a peace and power that transcend all understanding. Remain in this state of contemplation for a few moments, absorbing the magnificence and order of the universe. Upon returning, bring with you the clarity and inspiration of this journey.

Intellectual understanding and visionary experiences of the celestial spheres can be enriched and personalized through a creative and introspective practice: the creation of your "Personal Celestial Map." This map is not a rigid diagram to be copied, but an individual expression of your emerging connection with the angelic hierarchies and the structure of the cosmos. To begin, set aside a moment of quiet and reflection. Equipped with paper, colored pencils, paints, or any artistic material that pleases you, allow your intuition to guide you. Start by reflecting on the symbols that, for you, represent the Divine, angels, or the different levels of spiritual consciousness you have begun to explore. These may be traditional symbols, geometric shapes, specific colors, or even images that have appeared in your dreams or meditations. This knowledge does not feed vanity but deepens the commitment to serving the Light, as it shows the practitioner the fields where their contribution can be most fruitful and aligned with the divine will.

With the advancement of this journey, the construction of the Celestial Map transforms into a living testament to spiritual awakening, accompanying the magus on each new level of consciousness attained. It becomes not just an external symbol, but a materialized extension of inner communion with the celestial hierarchies. And so, the student of Angelic Magic proceeds, always in an upward movement, guided by the ordering light of the cosmos and sustained by the constant presence of the divine messengers who patiently accompany them on their ascent towards the One.

Chapter 3 Celestial Hierarchies

The journey through the Spheres of Light, initiated with the contemplation of cosmic structure and the creation of the Personal Celestial Map, now leads us to a more intimate knowledge of the intelligences that populate these luminous realms. Esoteric tradition, and Angelic Magic in particular, recognizes a vast and ordered celestial population, organized into choirs or hierarchies, each with specific mystical functions and a particular way of interacting with creation and, consequently, with humanity. Understanding these angelic orders allows the practitioner to direct their consciousness and invocations with greater clarity and purpose.

Traditionally, Nine Angelic Choirs are detailed, often grouped into three triads, extending from the vicinity of the Divine Throne to the spheres most directly linked to our world.

The first triad, the highest and closest to the uncreated Source, is composed of the Seraphim, Cherubim, and Thrones. The Seraphim, described as beings of fire and intense light, are associated with divine love in its purest and most ardent form. Their mystical function is the unceasing contemplation of God's glory and the transmission of the primordial energy of love that sustains all. In human life, their influence can be perceived in moments of spiritual ecstasy, profound universal compassion, or a sudden and overwhelming certainty of divine presence, purifying and transmuting the densest energies. The Cherubim are bearers of divine wisdom and guardians of sacred mysteries. They represent the fullness of knowledge and the ability to reflect the light of truth. Their intervention can manifest as profound insights, revelations about the nature of the universe, the ability to discern truth amidst confusion, or inspiration for great works of knowledge and sacred art. The Thrones, in turn, are considered the sustainers of divine stability and cosmic justice. They represent the firmness of divine purpose and the manifestation of order in the universe. On the human plane, their influence can be felt as a strong sense of justice, the ability to make balanced and upright decisions, or the strength to persevere on righteous paths, even in the face of adversity, promoting peace and harmony.

The second triad comprises the Dominions, Virtues, and Powers. The Dominions are regarded as the intelligences that govern the lower orders of angels and supervise the affairs of nations and large human groups, seeking to manifest divine order in the world. Their aid can be invoked for the development of just leadership, for the resolution of large-scale conflicts, or for obtaining clarity in the administration of important responsibilities, inspiring self-mastery and the ability to govern oneself wisely. The Virtues are the angels of cosmic strength and movement, responsible for the transmutation of divine energy into realizing power and for the manifestation of miracles. It is they who infuse courage and resilience into human hearts, especially in times of great trial. The influence of the Virtues can be recognized in the sudden strength to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles, in unexpected healing, or in the ability to inspire others through the example of faith and determination. The Powers are the guardians of the boundaries between worlds and protectors against the forces of imbalance and negativity. Their function is to maintain the integrity of creation and defend souls against adverse spiritual influences. They are resorted to for spiritual protection, for cutting harmful energetic ties, and for strengthening the aura against psychic attacks, offering a shield against fear and doubt.

The third triad, closest to the human sphere, is formed by the Principalities, Archangels, and Angels. The Principalities are the guardians of nations, cities, and large communities, guiding their leaders and inspiring the cultural and spiritual development of peoples. They work so that the light of truth and justice illuminates social and political structures. Their influence can be perceived in the inspiration for just social reforms, in the flourishing of arts and sciences in a community, or in the protection of a people against tyranny and ignorance, fostering love for one's country and the common good. The Archangels are the great divine messengers, bearers of celestial decrees of particular importance to humanity and the planet. They are known by their names and specific missions, such as Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, and Uriel, each acting in areas like protection, revelation, healing, and illumination. Their intervention is often associated with crucial moments in the lives of individuals or in the history of humanity, bringing direct guidance, strength for great missions, or profound healings. Finally, the Angels, the choir closest to humanity, are the individual ministers and guardians, dedicated to accompanying and inspiring each soul on its earthly journey. The personal Guardian Angel, belonging to this order, is the most intimate celestial companion, offering protection, intuition, and solace, and guiding the individual towards their highest purpose and the reunion with their divine nature.

Parallel to these angelic hierarchies, the Arbatel prominently introduces the Seven Olympic Spirits as planetary governors, intelligences of great power and wisdom who administer the influences of the seven traditional planetary spheres on the sublunar world and, consequently, on human life. Each of these Spirits—Aratron (Saturn), Bethor (Jupiter), Phaleg (Mars), Och (Sun), Hagith (Venus), Ophiel (Mercury), and Phul (Moon)—has a specific domain of action, governing aspects such as transmutation, expansion, strength, vitality, beauty, knowledge, and intuition. Although each of them will be the subject of in-depth study in subsequent chapters, it is important at this moment to recognize their role as cosmic regents, whose energies can be understood and, with due respect and preparation, invoked to assist in the spiritual and material development of the practitioner.
