Rule Nr.1 - Don’t Compromise!
I never compromised with anything, and I was always seen as immature, even by my own family. And yet, I matured much more than they ever did.
Despite the fact that everyone has the right to his or her own opinion, I can tell you that, according to Sigmund Freud, the mental state of dependency is actually related to immaturity. According to him, it’s the individual action, and the consequences that it brings to the individual, that characterizes maturity. He said: “The freeing of an individual, as he grows up, from the authority of his parents is one of the most necessary though one of the most painful results brought about by the course of his development. It is quite essential that that liberation should occur and it may be presumed that it has been to some extent achieved by everyone who has reached a normal state. Indeed, the whole progress of society rests upon the opposition between successive generations. On the other hand, there is a class of neurotics whose condition is recognizably determined by their having failed in this task”.
Rule Nr.2 - Be Independent!
I can tell you that from a spiritual point of view, I have no doubt whatsoever, that most religious books openly criticize the majority of the society, and promote individual maturity as being, not interdependent, but singular. The Talmud, for example, says to “not pay attention to the fact that the entire world is continuously chasing pleasures while only a few ascend to the Creator” (Talmud, Rosh Hashanah). As for the Bible, it’s very explicit in saying that “it is God who gives you the power to create wealth” (Deuteronomy 8:18).
Despite what many people may think about religion, when you go to the source, every spiritual individual is saying the same, and yes, even Jesus. He was killed, not because he was kind and loving and whatever, but because he was teaching philosophies and exercises related to spiritual individuality and awareness, that he learned in India and Tibet. And that is something that threatens governments, in that case the Roman Empire.
Rule Nr.3 - Avoid The Majority!
In today’s world, governments aren’t so afraid as they were in the past, because their methods of control are far more sophisticated than ever were. Now, people control themselves, with criticism, mockery, ridicule and humiliations. So, we may know how a government thinks by looking at the majority of the population. And the majority openly criticizes individuality and independent thinking.
The majority is also afraid of powerful independent individuals, and they show it by calling them crazy psychopaths and mocking them. That’s what happens to you as soon as you quit your job to stay at home working every day in your own business. Even your companion may call you crazy if you do that.
I was called crazy by every single companion I had. Besides, this is more likely to happen in the beginning, when you aren’t making any money, which in fact is the most crucial moment in the life of an entrepreneur.
