Ever since grade school 4ays in Sumpter, a rough lumbering village, Dee had carried the nickname of Legs. She was nearly all legs. She despised the description, it still clung to her. No matter how she dressed, her gangly legs constantly embarrassed her.

She couldn't think of her loneliness now, though. The sounds from Candy's room grew even more suggestive. It wasn't necessary for Dee to place her ear against the dividing wall; the noises came through clearly.
