The World Of Banished Gods

Introduction:

Long before the ages, when the darkness ruled the skies, there existed nothing. After endless ages of zilch, a faint light appeared. That light grew gradually and began to dominate the darkness. As aeons of reign was on the verge of extinction, darkness began to battle the light by absorbing it. But despite the strenuous effort, darkness wasn't able to suppress the growing light. Light became more luminous and the darkness lost its prominence. Light vanquished the darkness and expelled it from the skies, eventually turning the entire sky bright. The dark era has ended.

With its victory over darkness, light created the stars as radiant trophies of its triumph. Light wanted to expand its existence and glory even further and split into the gods, giving them knowledge, ethics, morality, and love—the very essence of light. Gods worshipped the light as their supreme. Light remained in the skies and did not allow darkness to rise again, while the gods spread goodness and enlightenment all around, completely suppressing the darkness.

Gods created the heavens and lived in peace and prosperity with the noble traits derived from the light. Ages passed and the gods had offspring. While every offspring relished the splendors of the heavens, Bregaydian—the most brilliant mind among them—achieved what the others could not. He drew the sacred Knowledge of Creation from the gods with unwavering resolve and unshaken effort. The gods and their offspring dwelt together in love. Everything was good in the heavens. But the good times don't last long.

Though the defeated darkness was expelled from the skies, it doesn’t want to lose its existence. Perceiving the fact that it can never exist in the skies with the presence of light, darkness found an alternate way for its rise. When the heavens were filled with noble principles, darkness infused envy, hatred, greed, and deceit into the gods—traits of its very essence. Being the direct derivative from the light, the first gen gods did not slip into the plight created by the darkness. But their offspring succumbed to it. The offspring who were possessed by greed, wanted to suppress the domination of their ancestors and rule the havens.

Chapter 1:

Offspring declared war against their ancestors. Though the offspring knew that they cannot withstand the mighty ancestors, there are three aspects which drew them forward. The first one was, being the gods, offspring were immortal along with their ancestors. So they knew that they could lose nothing even if they lost the battle. The second aspect was their ability to organize a conspiracy in the battlefield against their ancestors who will always be fair. And the third one was the aid they got from the darkness. Darkness gave its sinister skill to the offspring to create their own weapons for defeating their ancestors. When every god in the offspring created their own powerful weapons, Bregaydian, besides creating his weapon, secretly crafted a mystical coronet that would serve only him. This coronet could make Bregaydian invisible or allow him to disguise himself, granting him a significant advantage in the battle against the Ancestors. Bregaydian also had another darker intention behind creating the coronet. Once the Ancestors were defeated, he planned to use the coronet to suppress all the offspring. Alongside this, armed with the sacred knowledge of creation drawn from the ancestors, Bregaydian resolved to create the most powerful creature, with which he would subdue every god and rule the heavens as supreme. The darkness was impressed by Bregaydian’s sinister mind and deemed him best suited to manifest its dominance over the light. To carry its legacy forward, darkness urged Bregaydian to become the commander of the offspring by proving his authority in a friendly battle with his dark weapons. Bregaydian demonstrated his superiority over the offspring, and they acknowledged him as their commander-in-chief.

The war between the gods and their offspring began. Bregaydian with his three siblings named Mercedian, Antrapolian, and Bewarian, marched the army of offspring towards their ancestors. By organizing numerous conspiracies, the offspring repressed the ancestors. When the ancestors were at the verge of defeat, the light came to their aid, striking the offspring with powerful lightning bolts. Unable to withstand the light’s fierce onslaught, the offspring fell unconscious. The ancestors stood victorious.

The defeated offspring were at the feet of their ancestors. Ancestors knew that the greed in their offspring has no end and will constantly challenge them for power. Thus they decreed the offspring’s banishment from the heavens to maintain the peace. Along with this banishment, offspring were also cursed with mortality during the fight, and once they die, their soul will be completely destroyed. Ancestors cursed this deliberately to avoid offspring from fighting each other in fear of death, so that at least in this way there will be peace among their offspring. The offspring pleaded to remain in the heavens. Yet the ancestors stood firm, decreeing that only when the darkness within them was cleansed and they turned wholly good, the gates of heaven will open to them again.

All the offspring were banished from the heavens. They kept wandering in the vast empty skies, not knowing what to do and where to go. As the time passed on, despondency accumulated in them. Though Bregaydian was steeped in darkness, a fragment of ancestral light still flowed through him. So, seeing the plight of his mates, he created a world using the knowledge he had gained from the ancestors. This newly created world became abode to the entire offspring. Offspring named this world “Daemonisket”.
