Chapter 1: A New Adventure
In some realms a simple dice roll means nothing. In other realms a dice roll is all part of a game. In other realms a dice roll determines ones fate. And connecting all these realms is a gate.
The gate of realms.
Serving as key to the gate for each realm is an amulet. For some realms the purpose of the realm amulet is known. For other realms the purpose is forever lost to time. In one realm the amulet will help one young teenager discover his destiny.
"Corey Wake up! You're going to be late!" Corey woke with a start as his mother yelled at him to wake up. "Ok I'm up." Corey yelled back to his mother. Corey got up, stretched and got ready for school. Before leaving his bedroom Corey grabbed his dice dungeon dice. “Alright I’m set. I’m gonna go grab my bus now mom.”
“Alright Corey. Can’t you leave those silly dice home for once?” His mom couldn’t help but ask when she saw the dice bag hanging from her sons’ belt.
“Of course not! Everyone at school plays and how do you expect me to compete at regionals without practice?”
“*sigh* Alright. I will never understand this game. You better hurry or you’ll miss your bus.”
“Out of here. See you when I get home.” Thankfully Corey caught his bus and at school he was able to hook up with his three best friends Iris, Sonia and Wally. At lunch the four friends able to play a quick game of dice dungeon.
“Ok Wally is that move legal? Because that move looks whack.”
“Come on Sonia of course it’s legal. Shall we take a look at the rule book again?”
“At this rate guys none of us are making regional’s.”
“Yes we will Iris. Just not with moves like these.”
“Good to know one of us has faith.” *ding-dong*
“Man! There’s the bell. I guess we’ll just have to finish this game later huh Sonia?”
“Of course”
“My place?”
“Where else Corey. Come on guy let’s get to class before we’re late.”
“Alright. You know Sonia you should really equip your paladin with my amulet of invisibility next time.”
“Whatever let’s go.” After school ended Corey, Iris, Wally and Sonia all met up at Corey’s house. “Mom I’m home. I brought friends.”
“Hey Mrs. Telker.”
“Hello Wally, Iris, Sonia. Corey you know the rule: Homework first your silly game second.”
“Alright. Let’s get our home work done guys.”
“No problem. Then I can get back to kicking Sonia’s butt”
“For your information Wally I was winning before you pulled that questionable move.”
“Questionable you say. Let’s get our homework done.” After getting their homework done in record time the four friends headed for the basement because had something down there to show his friends. “Mom we’ll be in the basement.”
“Alright. Just be careful down there ok?”
“Ok mom. Let’s go guys.” Upon entering the basement Sonia, Iris and Wally saw what Corey wanted to show them: A large table with an equally large mountain like terrain on top.
“Well what do you think?”
“I think it’s awesome.”
“Is this terrain even legal?”
“According to my sources Sonia yes it is.”
“I say let’s give it a try. This will be great for the orc army I’ve been working on.”
“Well let’s play! I’ve got a birds of paradise army I want to try.” The four friends took turns setting up their respective armies and just played for hours. It wasn’t until it was late that Corey, Iris, Sonia and Wally decided to call it quits for the night. “Oh man I have to admit that was fun.” Wally said as he took to leaning against wooden wall thinking about the game he just finished up. Sonia and Iris were his opponents and Corey documented it on paper for later review.
“Tell me about it. Be careful ok Wally?”
“Why?”
“That wood’s pretty rotten - that’s why.”
“Please.”
“Come on Wally Listen to Corey on this one will you?”
“Yeah it’s his basement after all”
“Come on Sonia. What’s the worst that can happen?!” Wally then proceeded to crash through the wall he was leaning against because the rotten wood had finally given out.
“What was that?”
“Nothing mom.”
“Alright I’m going to trust you on that Corey.”
“Alright. Are you alright Wally?” Corey asked as he and Sonia helped him out of the hole he was now in.
“I’m ok but what did I land on? Ow!”
“Excuse me?”
“You heard me Corey. What do you and your mom keep in there?”
“Not a clue. I didn’t even know this crawl space exsisted. I mean it’s been boarded up forever.”
“Really? Well take a look Corey” Iris said as she handed Corey a flashlight, which he turned on and took a look in the now open crawl space. All he was able to find was an old turn of the last century book with an amulet tied to its cover. Corey pulled it out for his friends to see.
“All that was in there was this book. Must have been what you landed on Wally.”
”Yeah. This book looks old.”
“I’ll say. What do you make of this?” Sonia asked as she untied the amulet freeing the book.
“Not a clue. Interesting design,”
“Interesting? Weird is more like it. Hey Corey what’s in the book?”
“Not a clue. Let’s see.” Corey opened the book as Sonia handed the amulet to Iris. In the book was a strange language that Corey didn’t recognized or could make sense of. “
Say what you think this language is? I don’t recognize it.”
“Language? Let me see.”
“Ok here.” Corey handed the book to Sonia as Iris handed the amulet to Wally.
“I think this is lemurian but I’m not sure.”
“Lamurian?”
“It’s an ancient language I didn’t think really exsisted. Hey Corey isn’t your dad familiar with this language?”
“I think so. But keep in mind dad disappeared about five years ago. Me and mom haven’t seen him since.”
“Right.”
“What do you think the markings on this amulet mean?” Wally asked as he examined the amulet. The amulet itself was a white upside down triangle with a black center. The markings were gold and silver.
“You got me. Dad might know if he was still here.”
Wally then handed the amulet to Corey who took a closer look at the markings Wally pointed out.
“Weird.”
“What do you make of the markings on the book cover?”
