Congratulations on the new addition to your family!
We are the Labieds and, throughout the last 5 years, we have developed a unique concept of dog training for the whole family, which involves professional training of all dog breeds, combined with games and fun activities. We are focused on creating a safe, calm, harmonious and loyal family dog. Our methods are strictly positive and acknowledging – with an eye for the individual dog’s and family’s needs and situation.
“Dog training for the whole family – Train the perfect family dog together” can be read from start to finish, or you can use the book as a reference work and adapt some exercises, or you can find fun and learning games for many hours of positive togetherness for the whole family.
It is important, when you do the exercises in the book with your dog, that you don’t physically force your dog to obey the command. Praise, use treats and motivate with a happy and positive voice. It is supposed to be fun and positive to teach your dog the different exercises in the book.
It is important to have patience and a positive atmosphere while you teach your dog the many different commands and games in the book – both for your dog’s sake but also for the youngest members of the family. Nothing is entirely right or wrong when it comes to dog training; children’s imagination and creativity can often be a more fun way to train your dog, but also inspiring. Yet, them it is still important for a responsible adult to support, guide and motivate.
Time, patience, and repetition are important elements in dog training. Make sure there is a calm and safe atmosphere: calmness creates a calm dog. You should, therefore, limit or entirely stop catching games, pulling games, fetch, and wild games in general. These kinds of activities can make your dog uneasy, and it can be difficult to break bad habits afterwards. Instead, teach your dog different searching exercises, agility and some of the fun and simple games we show in the book.
