MOTIVATION FOR HARD TIMES

Complicated times are usually temporary situations; sometimes that time is short and other times it lasts longer than we would like. When we are faced with a difficult situation in our lives, people lose motivation, lose focus and desire, and can even plunge into depression or a serious state of mind. How many times have we wanted to stay in bed the rest of the day, the week, or the month? If life is becoming more and more complex for us, the tendency is to want to take a break—flee from the situation or ignore it. But neither of these two decisions can be good in the long run.

Having the power to face situations and wield the right tools to do so is the only thing that can help us overcome a losing streak. Leaving ourselves abandoned or putting aside our daily life for an intense sea of emotions is a mistake, as is pretending that everything is fine and continuing life ignoring that sea that roars within you. You must learn to find a middle ground between letting your emotions surface and respecting their processes and moving on with life.

Feeling motivated is important in every aspect of our life, and you will learn this as you progress through each chapter. But it's especially crucial to motivate yourself when you're going through tough times. It is these moments when our world and our perception tend to mature, change, or evolve. When we are exposed to unpleasant situations, we do not have many options, and the best of them is to respond favorably in the future. This translates to learning from them.

When, despite our state of mind, we can rescue a little motivation in our day-to-day life, it becomes much easier to overcome current and future problems. It is important to keep in mind that a bad moment leaves important messages and teachings. If you keep that in mind, you can find the motivation you lost. But do not worry; if you still feel that nothing is worth it, I’ll provide a list of tips that can help you.

Helpful tips:

1. Identify your emotions

When we are in stressful situations we tend to put aside our own perception of how we are feeling. In general, emotions and how we feel is not something that we are one hundred percent aware of every day, less when we are at the limit. The first piece of advice is to identify the emotions and where they come from. I know that can sound very abstract and it can even be a difficult or painful process. All our emotions have a nucleus, and many times identifying that nucleus is the first step.

When we dedicate ourselves to identifying emotions, especially negative ones, we have a greater capacity to handle them. By knowing where the sadness or anxiety is coming from, we can attack the root of the problem and treat that emotion much more effectively. When you feel sad, ask yourself why you feel that way. And be careful not to accept the first answer your mind throws at you. Seek to delve deeper and ask yourself more questions until you feel like you've really gotten to the core.

2. Take the opportunity to get to know yourself better. What do you want to do?

This next tip goes hand in hand with the previous one. By knowing the nuclei of our emotions, we undoubtedly know ourselves better. This is a good time to start questioning the paths we have taken, the decisions we have made, and the goals we have created. Sometimes a bad moment can become the ideal time to reinvent ourselves.

Are you living the life you want to live? If so, what can you do to empower it or keep it that way? If you are not living it, what is the life you want and how could you get there? Are you living for yourself or are you just satisfying others? These and many other questions can arise during this process of self-awareness.

3. Ask yourself what you are doing and what you could do.

If you have realized that you are not living the life you want, if it turns out that you have left your horizon aside or lost sight of it, this is the time to find it again or to consider a different one. Do not be afraid to change along the way. No matter how advanced you are with the current path, if that is not what you really want, then nothingwill be worth it. Do not waste your time. What do you do now to achieve what you want? What could you do from now on?

4. Set specific goals
