Sara has quite a difficult interview and sadly boards an elevator, knowing that she most likely didn't get the job. Two well dressed black men board with her and she recognizes them as the men she spoke to before she interviewed. They try to reassure her and ask her if she had an elevator pitch.

She let's them know that she probably failed the interview with it and doesn't want to tell them. They try to cheer her up, when the elevator suddenly comes to a halt. As time goes on, the two ask for her pitch again. When she still hesitates, they begin to open up.

One of them has been having dating problems. The tables turn as Sara tries to console him. When she learns more about his problems, she's stunned. Apparently it's because he's too big for most women. Sara rolls her eyes and informs him that it's the most ridiculous thing she's heard. The two make a deal, her elevator pitch for proof that he's "too large" for most women. Does Sara end up believing his story?

I looked around, my feet nervously tapping the ground, as I waited for the elevator.  This was my first interview in quite some time.  I had a stable job at a small, close knit company for the past ten years, but due to a recent buyout, and after some massive restructuring, my group, as well as many others were absorbed, considered duplicates and cut.

Lots of people were angry over the situation as the larger company’s groups all emerged spotless while our groups were all considered useless.  The exiting CEO silently left with little to no fanfare.  The new CEO barely batted an eyelash as he wandered through our halls telling entire groups to pack up and leave.

The elevator chimed as it reached the ground floor, the doors slowly opening to reveal a flood of people as they headed out.  Most of them were busy staring at their phones as they walked out, some just walking right into me as if I didn’t exist.  Once the elevator emptied out, I stepped in and pressed the button for the floor I was supposed to go to.

I practiced my elevator pitch as the elevator quickly ascended.  The elevator was surprisingly fast, zooming up as I tried to keep calm and practice my speech and answers for questions.  It actually made my body clench up for a moment.

“Wow, really fast elevators here,” I whispered.

I yelped as the elevator briefly stopped and shook in the air.  My palms grew sweaty as I gripped onto the railing and looked around.  After a brief jolt, it continued on its way up and I let out a sigh of relief.

The elevator chimed again to let me know that it had reached its destination.  The doors opened up and I quickly hopped out, slightly afraid that the elevator would suddenly drop.  It was an absurd thought, but after the brief scare, it was better to be safe than sorry.

I looked to the left and saw a pair of tall glass double doors for the company I was interviewing with.  While gripping tightly onto my little folder with copies of my resume in it, I walked towards the doors.  A secretary behind the doors saw me and nodded, a small clinking sound emitting to let me know that the door had unlocked.

After a deep breath, I opened the door, my heart racing as I smiled at the secretary who glanced over at me and then looked back at her monitor.  She typed something and then looked up at me again.

“Are you here for an interview?”  She inquired.

“Yes, I’m Sara Walker, here to interview for-“

“Sit over there please.  I’ll call up the hiring manager,” the secretary said, cutting me off sharply.

I shyly nodded and quietly sat on the seat the secretary had pointed at.  I looked around the office, staring at the various pictures hanging on the wall.  There were a few people rushing by, their heads down as they looked at notebooks or their phones.  I felt as though it was a very cold work environment.

A couple of well dressed black men walked by, chatted with the secretary and then stopped by in front of me.  They looked down at me and smiled.

“Haven’t seen you around before,” one of them said.

“Oh, hi, I’m just here for an interview,” I replied.

“No shit?  What position?”

“A financial analyst.”

“Oh, that must be under Joe.”

“I think so.  Let me look,” I said as I pulled out my interview schedule.

“Joe Dodd?”  I asked as I read my paper.

“Yeah, yeah, I know Joe.  I think we have lunch scheduled with him today.”

“Nah, not lunch, happy hour,” the other black corrected.

“No shit, really?  Ah, where are my manners?  Hi, I’m Louie,” the tall black man introduced.

He had a shiny bald head and deep, dark near black skin.  His thick eye brows were neatly trimmed, though they blended in with his skin and he had a slight crookedness to his nose.

“Hi, I’m Sara.”

I stood up and he extended a hand.  His handshake was firm, and yet somehow gentle; mostly due to his soft skin.

“And I’m Isaiah,” the other black man said.

He had long, braided hair that was tied into a pony tail that traveled down to the back of his neck.  While slightly shorter than Louie, he did seem more built.  I could see that his suit was wrapped tightly around his thick body, bursting at the seams.

“So Joe huh?  He’s quite the hard ass sometimes,” Louie said while scratching his chin.

“Oh really?”

“Yeah, I mean, he’s a nice guy, but he likes to grill people for some reason,” Louie replied.

“Oh no...  It’s been a while since I interviewed,” I said.

“It’s all good, just do what you would do in a public speaking environment.  Imagine him naked,” Louie said with a smile.

Isaiah laughed and shook his head.  “That is such bad news.  Who would ever want to see his bony ass naked?”

“His wife... maybe?”  Louie joked.

I nervously smiled, my eyes shifting side to side.  I wanted to be careful, especially considering I had no idea what Joe looked like.  It would have been quite the awkward experience if he had seen me laughing at a joke at his expense.

“My bad, my bad.  I get it, you’re interviewing with the guy.  Well, good luck, hope to see you around.  You have an elevator pitch ready?” Louie asked as he began heading off.

“Yeah, actually practiced it in the elevator,” I answered

He nodded and the two walked off.  I sat back down on [...]
