How to Achieve High Self Esteem

Not only is self-esteem the key to success but it is the key to everything, especially interpersonal relations. If we don’t regard ourselves highly with the confidence to achieve high self-esteem, then we can’t expect other people to admire us if we don’t think we deserve it. Most of us seek approval from someone, your boss, family, friends, partners, parents and your children. When we do that, we run the risk of approval not being given that could stop us from achieving our goals.

We should all strive not to let anyone’s indifference or disapproval affect our self-esteem. We are all aware, that we all stand-alone against the world and need to isolate ourselves from put-downs or rejection. We need to understand who has rebuffed us and have the attitude you have made a mistake my friend. If you don’t want to be my partner in life that is your problem, not mine. If you do not want to employ me, you have missed out on a great employee. If you won’t publish my book that is your problem. You have missed out on a loving partner, a great employee, or an author you could be proud of. There are many other endeavours we seek and need the approval of someone to achieve our goals.

We need to balance our attitudes. We may have desperately wanted to have that girlfriend or boyfriend. Once we want somebody to do something for us, it means we have passed control to them, because they can accept or reject us. But we must maintain our balance, be ready for a good outcome and a bad one without letting our self-esteem suffer.

Man has always existed in tribes with hierarchical organisations, which is a system of people in a graded order. We can also see this in the animal kingdom where a leader is all powerful and dictates what all the underlings can do. This arrangement could play havoc with self-esteem but mostly animals except the situation and deal with it without too much fuss or loss of esteem.

A new study shows just what it takes to convince a person that she is qualified to achieve the career of her dreams. It's not enough to tell people they have the skills or the grades to make their goal a reality. Many people need a more vivid and detailed description of just how pursuing their dream career will help make them successful.

Success is especially important for people who have the skills and potential to pursue a career but lack the self-confidence. Students who have chronic self-doubt may need an extra boost to pursue their dreams they are certainly able to achieve. What they need is a vivid picture of what will happen if they succeed.
