"Odes Ioniennes" is a poetic journey that retraces 36 years of beautiful memories and reveries around the small port of Parga, in Greece. This edition includes the English version together with the poems translated into Greek. The author, Mirta Dubischar Panagiotopoulos, a visual artist, accompanies her texts with some twenty superb illustrations of her own creation. This is a collection tinged with the dreamlike scents of Greece.

PREFACE

"Ionian Odes" is a poetic journey inspired by nature's resplendent beauty and an atmosphere where mythology radiates as a wondrous treasure. The sea, Greece's storied past, both ancient and modern, its mythos, traditions, and the splendor of its landscapes, all serve as wellsprings for my creativity and dreams.

This collection of verses forms an integral part of my endeavor to nurture artistic and cultural bridges connecting France and Greece. It stands as an extension of the "Paris-Parga Contemporary Art" initiative, which I've been fostering since 2015. This initiative encompasses the annual exhibitions I've orchestrated alongside fellow French and Epirotic painters within the fortress of Parga, an effort unfortunately suspended during the ravages of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The invaluable collaboration with my Epirotic compatriots allowed me to transmute my poems into Greek and set some to music and song.

A heartfelt expression of gratitude goes to Effrossyni Serifi, Eftychia Grana, and Jacqueline Grégoire for their Greek translations, to Nikos Papadiotis for the melodies and singing, and to my daughter Olympia for editing the collection.

"Ionian Odes" navigates a poetic expedition spanning 36 years of cherished memories and daydreams encapsulating the enchanting port of Parga, Greece. The chosen illustrations, culled from my body of work, mirror my emotional tides and harmonize with these verses along my creative journey. They stand as testaments to my deep-rooted affection for the Epirus region.

Οι «Ιόνιες Ωδές» είναι ένα ποιητικό ταξίδι εμπνευσμένο από μια σπινθηροβόλο φύση ομορφιάς και μια ατμόσφαιρα όπου η μυθολογία γίνεται αισθητή ως ένα θαυμαστό αγαθό.

Η θάλασσα, η αρχαία και σύγχρονη ιστορία της Ελλάδας, η μυθολογία της, τα έθιμά της και η ομορφιά της φύσης της είναι για μένα πηγές δημιουργίας και ονείρων.
