INTRODUCTION
Congratulations on your new acquisition of one of Apple's latest flagship phones. Now that you have this beauty, it's time to use all the features your device offers with the help of a well-illustrated user manual. This user guide is well-constructed to give you precisely what you need, with many tips and tricks to help you become familiar with the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models. If you have an older iPhone model (with iOS 16), you don't have to feel left out because this user guide was also written with you in mind.
The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models come in various sizes. The iPhone 14 Pro Max measures at 6.7-inches while the iPhone 14 Pro variant features a 6.1-inch screen. In addition, both models come with a dynamic pill-shaped system on the front (Dynamic Island), which was cleverly integrated with functions like bubbling up when a notification is received and acting like a status bar.
The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models feature a 120Hz display, which can go from 1 to 120Hz, depending on your activity. This function makes your screen much smoother and faster while scrolling through web pages and apps and also makes it possible for the Always-On Display feature to be integrated without much battery consumption.
Regarding camera upgrades, the iPhone 14 pro models feature a larger 48-megapixel sensor in the primary Camera, an upgrade from the last generation's 12-megapixel one. Another feature is the Cinematic Mode (premiered on the iPhone 13 Pro Max), which now supports 4k and 24fps options for the front-facing Camera.
The iPhone 14 pro models house some mouth-watering features. It boasts the new, faster A16 Bionic chip, which delivers a massive boost in performance. In addition, they feature a MagSafe wireless charger (a magnetic wireless charging system), which is two times faster than the older Qi wireless charger. A ring of magnets encircles the wireless charging coil of the iPhone 14, making it possible for MagSafe to snap right in place at the back of your iPhone. MagSafe is sold separately.
This book will look at how you can use your iPhone to its full potential, including the new features the iPhone 14 pro models and iOS 16 bring to the table. In summary, the main difference in design between the iPhone 13 and 14 pro models is the notch, which was replaced by a pill-shaped system. However, the back design remains the same with the triple-lens camera setup.
Section 1: Getting Started
1: Unboxing and Setting up the iPhone 14 Pro Models
The iPhone 14 Pro models come in environmentally friendly and thin packaging like its predecessors. You just pop open the box, and your device is right there with no protective plastic. You can use your current Apple power adapter and headphones or purchase these items separately. Apple didn't include the power brick and other accessories as part of their plans to reach their environmental goals.
Your iPhone 14 Pro models come with everything you need to get started. Below is a list of things you'd see in the box:
A SIM ejection tool (not included for those in the US)A few papers (and an Apple sticker), A USB-C to Lightning Cable.
It is imperative to note that the USB-C to Lightning cable is not your typical charging cable, so it might not fit into your computer USB port or the wall outlets in airports, cafes, or similar places. Below is a list of things to purchase for a better experience.

Power on and set up iPhone
An internet connection is needed to power on and set up your iPhone. You can also use a computer to set up your iPhone. You can move your data to your new iPhone if you have an old iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Android device.
Get ready for setup
Get the following items ready to make the setup process as smooth as possible:
A cellular data service through a carrier (not needed for the iPhone 14 lineup) or an internet connection through a Wi-Fi network Your Apple ID and password; you can create one during setup if you don't have an Apple ID.Your debit or credit card account data if you wish to add a card to Apple Pay during the setup process.Your previous iPhone or Android device if you are transferring your data to your new phone.
Power on and set up your iPhone
Press and hold the Side button or the Sleep or Wake button (depending on your iPhone model) until you see the Apple logo.
Do any of the following:
Tap Set Up Manually and follow the on-screen prompts. You can use the Quick Start option to automatically set up your device if you have an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 11, iPadOS 13, or later. Bring the two devices near each other and follow the on-screen instruction to securely copy most of your settings, preferences, and iCloud Keychain. You can then use your iCloud backup to restore the rest of your data and content to your new device.
Or, you can transfer all your data wirelessly from your former device to your new one if the two devices have iOS 12.4, iPadOS 13, or later.
Moving from an Android device to iPhone
When setting up your new iPhone, you can securely and automatically move your data from an Android device.
NB. When setting up your iPhone for the first time, you can only transfer your data using the Move to iOS app. You must erase your iPhone data and start over or move your data manually if you're already done with the setup and wish to transfer your data.
Do the following on your new iPhone:
Please turn on your iPhone and place it close to the android one, then follow the setup assistant.Tap Set Up Manually on the Quick Start screen, then continue to follow the on-screen directions. Note that you might be required to activate your eSIM.Then tap Move Data from Android on the Apps & Data screen.
Do the following on the Android device:
Download the Move to iOS app from Play Store.Turn on Wi-Fi.Open the Move to iOS app. Then follow the on-screen prompts.
Set up your cellular service
A physical SIM or an eSIM from a carrier is required to set up the cellular connection on your iPhone. To set up a cellular plan, contact your carrier. The iPhone 12 models and later can connect to 5G networks. You only need an iPhone 12 or later, a carrier that supports 5G, and a 5G cellular plan.
The iPhone XS, iPhone XR, and later (to iPhone 14) all support Dual SIM using one physical nano-SIM and eSIM (not available in all regions or countries). Note that iPhone 14 models in the US only support eSIM and not a physical SIM.
What is an eSIM?
It is a recently developed technology that allows you to easily switch between carriers and have more than one phone number on your mobile phone. An eSIM, which stands for "embedded subscriber identity module," is a small electronic chip implanted into a mobile device to serve the same function as the little plastic SIM cards.
Install a physical nano-SIM
You can use your previous nano-SIM from your old iPhone or get a new one from a carrier.
Note: iPhone 14 models purchased in the US are incompatible with physical SIM.
Insert a SIM eject tool or a paper clip into the small hole of the SIM tray and push it in to eject the tray.
Remove the tray from iPhone and place the nano-SIM in the tray (the angled corner determines the correct positioning)
Insert the SIM tray back into the iPhone.
