This book is the result of a tremendous amount of study about the spoken Word. I have gone through the book and have found great potential deposited in the life of the author. I am convinced that the author has been very conversant with the use of the spoken Word and its application. The miracles that result at every time he is ministering and releasing the spoken Word to the lives of people or to situations is awesome.
The power of the spoken Word is great. God has endowed the author to write this wonderful and explosive write-up about the power of the spoken Word.
I am very sure that if you obtain this book and go through the write-ups and the testimonies through the spoken Word - your life will not remain the same again.

Do you know that the power available to a covenant child of God is absolutely awesome and unlimited?
Do you also know that the solutions to most problems that so boldly confronts us lies in the use of our tongue through the spoken Word?
Do you know that this power has been freely given to us to utilize so fruitfully?
Do you also know that all those who abide under the shadow of the almighty God, share in this inheritance?
Now, come along with me as we explore the power behind the spoken Word.
The biblical account of creation clearly signifies the importance of the spoken Word in accomplishing the intent and purpose of God. The Almighty God did not create anything without the Word.
John 1:1-3, attest to the fact that the Almighty God is the source of creation.
VS.1: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
VS.2: The same was in the beginning with God.
VS.3: All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.”
Now, let us practically journey into creation. Genesis 1:1-3, also rightly attest to the fact that the Almighty God is the source of creation.
VS.1: “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
VS.2: And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
VS.3 : And God said, Let there be light and there was light.”
Essentially, we must note that the Spirit of God moved upon the face of water before God said - Let there be light. It therefore implies that the spirit of God which is the Holy Spirit executed the intent and purpose of the spoken Word. We must also be mindful of the fact that the Holy Spirit quickens and is the breath of God. Therefore, anyone who must create through the power of the Holy Spirit must be baptized in the Holy Spirit.
It is a well known fact that without the Holy Spirit our words cannot accomplish divine purpose. In essence, they lack divine power and authority that is required for fruitfulness. A classic example in the scriptures is the fruitless effort of the seven sons of Sceva who attempted to cast out evil spirits as obtained in Acts 19:13-16.
VS.13: “Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preaches.”
VS.14: And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.
VS.15: And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?
VS. 16: And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.”
Going forward, we must acknowledge the fact that some people perform “miracles” through the power of the devil and its demons. These powers are subject and indeed inferior to the power of the Holy Spirit. The superiority of the power of the Holy Spirit was aptly demonstrated by Jesus who clearly asserted His authority over principalities and powers by triumphing over them (Colossians 2:15).
“And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”
The main essence of this book is to bring to the fore, the awesome power embedded in the spoken Word through the Holy Spirit. My dear, if you wish that your word achieve its purpose and be established, it must be backed by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the energizer.
The scriptures rightly pointed out that Jesus Christ is full of the Holy Spirit. His baptism at the river Jordan gives credence to this statement of fact as recorded in Luke 3:21-22.
VS. 21: “ Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,
VS. 22: And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.”
We must also note that immediately after His baptism, He proceeded to the wilderness after being led by the Holy Spirit (Luke 4:1).
“And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness.”
My encounter with the work of the Holy Spirit started in the middle 1980’s when I visited the home of my high school classmate in Lagos - southwest Nigeria and was informed by his folks that he had gone on a visit to the house of his Lagos State University colleague in the neighbourhood.
As soon as I got to the location, I discovered that they were having a prayer meeting and were all praying in tongues. I was so delighted and had to join them because at that time, I was already born again. However, one of the brethren asked me whether I could pray in tongues and I said no. This prompted him to lay his hands on my head and he began to pray in tongues. Thereafter, I felt a sensation like an electric current pass through me to the extent that I almost fell to the ground but I decided to resist it. As soon as he noticed my reaction he asked me to allow the Holy Spirit to flow through me without any resistance. A few seconds later, I found myself on the floor and had instantly started speaking in tongues. From that day, I knew that I was no longer the same. This marks the beginning of my fellowship with the Holy Spirit.
I had left my home early that morning absolutely unaware of God’s intention for me. The Almighty God is indeed responsible for directing the affairs of every believer (Jeremiah 10:23).
“O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.”
I know that the almighty God predestined that day. Praise the Lord!
As soon as the Holy Spirit comes upon a believer, there is instant impartation of power and the fellow is immediately transformed into a divine vessel, ready for the Master’s use (Acts 1:8).
“But ye shall receive Power, after the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
The awesome power available to us through the Holy Spirit has practically exposed me to the world of great testimonies, miracles, signs and wonders. In fact, according to Philippians 4:13, we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
I have watched and listened to great men and women of God who had minister to my consternation. The joy in my heart is that they did exploit for Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. This same Power is available to you and me by the grace of God.
The almighty God, through the instrumentality of the Holy Spirit has been benevolent to me by gifting to the glory of God. I intend to highlight some of the workings of the Holy Spirit through the spoken Word in my ministry.
Again, may I remind you that without God, no one can win any battle because we are mere dust and ashes.
Please come along and journey with me as we go into the amazing world of the Holy Spirit empowered spoken Word. God bless you!
The works of the Holy Spirit will forever amaze me. On a daily basis, He teaches new things, reveals secrets and performs diverse miracles, signs, and wonders. In fact, we can never graduate as students of the Holy Spirit.
The testimonies below are rare and indeed awesome. They increase my love and respect for the person of the Holy Spirit. If you are connected to him, He is ever ready to establish the spoken Word. The Holy Spirit is Holy. Therefore, the continuous flow of the Spirit requires a holy vessel because our Lord God is indeed too holy to behold iniquity.
Testimony 1
One spectacular function of the Holy Spirit that I cherish so much is His ability to reveal diverse secrets. God does not belittle His servants. He will do nothing without informing His prophets (Amos 3:7).
“Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.”
Everything in the kingdom of darkness is known to God because He is light (Daniel 2:22).
“He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.”
A personal and classic example of the revelation of secrets by the Holy Spirit happened to me in Nigeria - a country in West Africa. I participated in the compulsory National Youth Service Corp. (NYSC) – that is, one year National Service after my first degree in 1992. My primary assignment was at Government Secondary School Anka in the former Sokoto State but now in Zamfara State in northwest Nigeria. I was preparing to attend the Sunday Service in August 1993. The Holy Spirit ministered to me that thieves would pay a visit to my apartment in the morning. So I began to wonder why they chose to visit my home. The Holy Spirit told me that they intend to steal a tape recorder I bought two weeks earlier with my two months allowance savings. I contemplated staying back at home in order to avert the incidence but on a second thought, I decreed that even if they came to my apartment, they would wait for me without stealing. With this assurance, I left for Church at about 6.30am. I had barely trekked 500meters when I met a man who exchanged greetings with me in the local language (Hausa). He had said “Ina Kwana” – that is, Good morning. I responded “Lafia Lau” – that is, it is well.
The Holy Spirit informed me that he was the thief. This prompted me to look at him from the rear before I reluctantly continued my journey. A moment later, another man exchanged greetings with me and the Holy Spirit told me that they were together on a mission to my apartment. I reflected again for a moment whether to return home or proceed to the church. At this point, I remembered my decree, so I repeated it and continued my journey to the church because I was sure that the Holy Spirit will honor my decree.
After the service, I returned home and instantly noticed finger prints on the front door. This implies that their hand was soiled with dust. I also noticed that an attempt had been made to pull down the door. Going forward, I opened the door and discovered that all was intact – my properties are safe. So I came outside curiously to ascertain the source of the finger prints on the front door. When I looked ahead, I sighted the first man I had met on the way to the church, sitting near a milestone on the main road.
About an hour later, the principal of the school informed me that two men were found loitering around my apartment and that a staff of the school in charge of the electricity generator had sent them away.
A few hours later, I was informed that two men were apprehended in the town for stealing and were attacked by a mob and that one of them was at the local general hospital (Anka General Hospital) - chained to a bed. The Holy Spirit told me that it was the same set of men that wanted to steal at my apartment.
The next day, I visited the local general hospital to confirm the revelation. As expected, I was not surprised. The man I had sighted sitting on the main road in front of my apartment was chained to a bed. The lesson here is that the Holy Spirit revealed a secret to me through the word of Knowledge, I made a decree through the spoken Word and it was established.
Testimony 2
The Holy Spirit empowers believers to speak prophetically. Such words are absolutely potent - a classic example in the scriptures is that of Prophet Elijah who decreed unto Ahab that there will be no rain or dew for three years but according to his words. (1 Kings 17: 1).
“ And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the Lord God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall be no dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.”
At a point in my life - I utilized the power of the Holy Spirit to prophetically determine the way forward. I had wanted to control the growth of weeds in my environment so I sprayed some herbicide on weeds but unfortunately, the weather changed so abruptly and was about to rain. If it rains, the implication is that I must repeat the spraying because the rain will simply dilute and wash off the herbicide. At this point, the herbicide was yet to adequately impact the weeds.
A few seconds later, I looked at the sky and knew from experience that the rain was imminent. So I decided to call on the Holy Spirit to intervene through the spoken Word. Subsequently, I screamed “rain freeze.” As soon as I released the words, my daughter looked at me and said “Dad stop the joke.” As far as she was concerned, nothing could stop the rain - it was obviously at hand. A moment later, the atmospheric condition became so intense that even a blind man will agree that the rain was imminent. I subsequently informed my daughter that my job is to speak the Word and allow the Holy Spirit to implement the decree.
Two minutes later, I decided to teach my daughter some lessons on faith. So I decreed “There will be no drop of rain from the sky for the next twenty four hours except at my word.” As expected, twenty four hours after I had issued the decree, no rain dropped. So I held my daughter by the hand and took her outside the house and asked her to tell me what she can see in the sky - she said the Sun. Thereafter, I told her that I will call on heaven to send down the rain so I said “I thank you father because you always hear me. Daddy, please show mercy - open the heavens and let there be rain in Jesus’ Name Amen.”
A few hours later, the heavens opened and there was rain to the glory of God. From that day onward, anytime it is about to rain and my daughter doesn’t want it, she will simply say “Daddy please put a stop to this rain.” In such instances, I do not oblige her because you do not use such authority indiscriminately. There is indeed a purpose for everything under the sun. (Ecclesiastes. 3: 1).
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
Testimony 3
The potency of the power embedded in the Holy Spirit through the spoken Word is indeed beyond human comprehension. The scriptures below attest to this statement of fact. (Jeremiah 23:29).
“Is not my word like as a fire? Saith the Lord; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?”
(1 Kings 18:36-38) Vs.36: “And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word.
Vs.37: Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that these people may know that thou art the Lord God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.
Vs.38: Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.”
Through the grace of God, I demonstrated this same power a few years ago in a neighborhood. This neighborhood is made up of various estates in Ibadan in southwest Nigeria. Members of one of the estates do not live in peace. Conflicts are so endemic among them. As I was driving through the estate in the morning, I discovered a concrete signpost showing the name of this particular estate. The ascribed name is the exact opposite of what obtained. As far as I was concerned, this is an absolute lie. So I was vexed in the spirit and I said “Lord, send an earthquake from your throne of grace to remove this signpost.”
Honestly, I was surprised when I returned to the estate in the evening of that day and discovered that the concrete signpost has been broken and the rubble littered the ground.
Two weeks later, they erected a replacement and after some weeks the replacement was equally destroyed. Since then, they have not bothered to erect another. The spoken Word is indeed potent.
The word spoken by a believer and by implication - energized by the Holy Spirit cannot return to the sender void. It must assuredly accomplish its purpose (Isaiah. 55:11).
“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: It shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”
Praise the Lord!
The power of the Holy Spirit enables healing through the spoken Word. Jesus Christ aptly demonstrated the use of words energized by the Holy Spirit to accomplish healing. The scriptures below further give credence to this statement of fact. (Matthew 8:16).
“When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his Word, and healed all that were sick.”
(Luke 7:7). “Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee; but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.”
The word of God is so powerful to the extent that nothing can surmount or hinder it from accomplishing its purpose (Hebrews 4:12).
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
The implication of this is that the Holy Spirit is central to accomplishing the purpose of the spoken Word. Ideally, since the shortest distance between two points is a straight line - it therefore follows that the authentic and best approach to healing by the Word is direct communion with the Holy Spirit. However, faith and holiness are very essential if heavenly backed results must be achieved.
Unfortunately, some false ministers of God device other means other than godly to achieve healing. The love for fame, recognition, mundane material things and inability to abide and obey God’s standards has driven them to take the so called - “shortcut.” This way only leads to the pit of hell. These false ministers of God compromise by using the powers of the devil to achieve “healing”. These categories of ministers were addressed by Christ in Mathew7:22-23.
Vs.22: “Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord have we not prophesied in thy name? And in thy name have cast out devils? And in thy name done many wonderful works?
Vs.23: “And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”
For this category of ministers, my advice to them is to be mindful of the fact that our God is a consuming fire. (Hebrews 12:29). They are already over-stretching the patience of God beyond the reasonable limit. If they do not repent, the owner of their soul is ever capable of consuming them. My advice is for them to repent otherwise, their sudden death will be apparent. Proverbs 14:12 alludes to this statement of fact.
“There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”
Ingredients for Divine Healing
The under-listed are the ingredients for divine healing.
1. Compassion
2. Faith
3. Knowledge
4. Anointing for Healing
5. Healing Proper (Action)
Compassion
Jesus Christ never heals anyone without having compassion for the fellow. Therefore, anyone who intends to work for Christ in the healing ministry must be compassionate. The scriptures below further clarify the importance of compassion in accomplishing healing as demonstrated by Christ. (Mark 8:2-3).
Vs.2: “I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat.
Vs.3: “And if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way: for divers of them came from far.”
Also, (Matthew 8:2-3).
Vs.2: “And behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
Vs.3: And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.”
Finally, (Luke 7:13-15).
Vs.13. “And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.
Vs.14: And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, young man, I say unto thee, Arise.
Vs.15: And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak, And he delivered him to his mother.”
Faith
Divine healing is usually achieved through the power of God manifested in the Holy Spirit. Therefore, if you must use this power, you must undoubtedly exercise faith in the power of God because without faith it is impossible to please God to the level of expecting Him through the power of the Holy Spirit to exercise healing on your behalf (Hebrews 11:6).
“But without faith it is impossible to please him: For he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
Jesus acknowledges the importance of faith in healing. This is the major reason why He admonished us to always have faith in God. (Mark 11:22-23).
Vs.22: “And Jesus answering said unto them, Have faith in God.
Vs.23: For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.”
Jesus further demonstrated that all things are possible for whoever is full of faith and filled with the Holy Spirit. (Luke 8:25).
“And he said unto them, where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, what manner of man is this; for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.”
Knowledge
Another key ingredient of divine healing is knowledge. This spirit is often found in genuine men and women of God (Isaiah 11:2).
“And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.”
The lack of knowledge is the major reason why the ignorant are often destroyed (Hosea 4:6).
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou has rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shall be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.”
Knowledge is indeed power. However, due to ignorance, a lot of challenges are left unresolved. For instance, there are issues that require fasting to resolve but due to lack of knowledge, they persist. The knowledge of the principle involved in utilizing the power of the Holy Spirit is critical to achieving success. The realization that you can ask anything in God’s Name and receive it is also a key to attaining success (John 14:14).
“If ye ask anything in my name, I will do it.”
However, God gives the spirit in different measures to His children for the edification of the church. (1 Corinthians 12:8).
“For to one is given by the spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same spirit”.
Essentially, the word of God must abide in you before you can accomplish fruitfulness through the spoken Word. (John 15:7).
“If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.”
Anointing for Healing
You require the anointing for healing in order for you to succeed in the healing ministry. This power is given by the Holy Spirit. God anointed Jesus Christ with the Holy Ghost and power in order for him to fulfill His purpose and mission on earth (Acts 10:38).
“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: Who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.”
The Almighty God aptly loves the division of labor in the administration of spiritual gifts. Therefore, He gives the gifts to His children in measures determined by Him (1Corinthians 12: 28-30).
Vs.28: “And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healing, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
Vs.29: Are all apostles? Are all Prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles?
Vs.30: Have all the gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?”
Healing Proper (Action)
For healing to take place, the first four ingredients without a corresponding apt action will result in a nullity. Therefore you must take action in order for you to achieve the desired result. You invariably need Compassion, Faith, Knowledge, Anointing, and finally - take action by speaking the Word as aptly demonstrated by Jesus in Psalms 107:20.
“He sent his Word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.”
Apostle Peter also demonstrated the use of the spoken Word and the need to take proper action in order to achieve healing for the man who was lame (Acts 3:6-8).
Vs.6: “Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
Vs.7: And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
Vs.8: And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple walking, and leaping and praising God.”
Jesus Christ also demonstrated the need to take the necessary action before achieving healing. He exemplified this fact through the raising of Lazarus to life after being dead for four days. Jesus did not merely use the spoken Word but ordered the people to take instant action by removing the stone that could hinder Lazarus from coming out after being restored back to life (John 11:41-44).
Vs.41: “Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus Lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.
Vs.42: And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
Vs.43: And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.
Vs.44. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.”
After utilizing the first four ingredients of divine healing, that is, compassion, faith, knowledge and anointing for healing, the fifth ingredient - that is, Action is then applied in order to achieve the desired result. The testimonies below further elucidate this concept. As long as you are a Holy Spirit filled believer, signs and wonders shall follow you (Mark 16:17-18).
Vs.17: “And these signs shall follow them that believe; in my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
Vs.18: They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”
Testimony 1
During the inauguration of the Redeemed Christian Church of God House Fellowship in Ajara community in Ibadan, southwest Nigeria in September 2013, I asked members of the fellowship to signify whatever they want the Lord Jesus Christ to do for them.
The first case was that of a teenager – Miss. Ngozi. She had issues with the skin of her palm which were peeling off at an alarming rate (Chronic Dermatitis). Her aunt had actually taken her to different hospitals and she had taken medications, yet no cure was in sight. She had even asked her aunt to buy a pair of gloves for her because the issue constitutes an embarrassment to her.
Physically, the case appears difficult for me but I certainly know that with God nothing shall be impossible. I thereafter held her on the wrist and released the appropriate words - I said, “Father in the Name of Jesus, you are the great physician. Nothing shall be impossible before you. I do not want to know the source of this attack. All I want is healing. And by your stripes we are healed. Daddy, you alone will take the glory. I decree and declare unto you - palm, receive your healing now in Jesus’ Name Amen.” Fortunately, while I was praying, the Holy Spirit asked me to release my breath upon the palm. I obeyed and concluded the prayer.
Two days later, we met in the evening at the local church for Bible Study (Digging Deep). Shortly after the program, I asked her about her palm. She instantly showed me the palm - behold, it was already healed! However, she told me that the back of her palm was yet to be healed. I thereafter turned the palm so as to view the back. Going forward, I released the appropriate words again - I said - “Father, thank you for the healing of the palm. Lord, whatever you start must surely come to completion. Daddy, complete the healing in Jesus’ Name Amen.” Five days later - that is, at Sunday Service, she gave a testimony of a perfectly healed hand to the glory of God Almighty. Therefore, as a believer who is filled with the Holy Spirit, once you send the Word, it must accomplish its purpose (Psalms 107:20).
“He sent his word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.”
Testimony 2
On the 3 rd of December 2013, the Holy Spirit asked me to go to Iwo Road in Ibadan, southwest Nigeria to conduct a medical test using Quantum Magnetic Resonance body analyzer. I actualized the instruction and I entered a building materials shop and conducted the test for six men in the shop. The next day, I returned there with the computer printouts of the test results and also to continue with the analysis. While analyzing the test result of Mr. Austin Okorie to him, his boss - Mr. Obum Mmaduako notified me of the sore on Mr. Austin Okorie’s leg that has defied healing. I instantly asked Mr. Austin Okorie to show the wound to me. He instantly lifted up his trouser to reveal the wound. I examined it and rightly informed him that medication will not heal the wound but through the power of God, he will receive healing. I asked him to give me a few minutes in order for me to shut down my laptop computer after which I will pray for divine healing. I thereafter laid hand upon the wound and released the appropriate words - I said - “Father in heaven, you are the only one who can heal this wound. I decree in the name which is above every other name - receive your healing in Jesus’ Name Amen. Thank you Father.” A few weeks later, I asked him about the wound and to the glory of God Almighty - he told me that he was completely healed.
About nine months later, he told me the origin of the wound. He said seven years ago, on the day he was laying the foundation of his house in Ibadan, he had decided to go back home to get something he needed at the site. Unfortunately, while on a motorbike, a car collided with the motorbike and fatally injured his leg. He thereafter spent six months in the hospital - (University College Hospital Ibadan) and also spent nine months at home before he could walk. Unfortunately, the sore could not heal. The implication is that the sore prevailed for seven years and he tried all kinds of medications to no avail, but the day God remembered him, He sent a vessel to release healing unto him at no cost. The glory belongs to God. Jesus Christ rightly admonished believers to go about to preach the gospel and to heal the sick (Luke.9:6).
“And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing everywhere.”
Testimony 3
At a night vigil in my local church on November 14 th 2014, tagged - “The battle at midnight.” I asked those who have prayer requests to come forward and privately notify me of their requests. Mrs. Abolarin, a grandmother, informed me that she was having excruciating pain on the arm and neck region. I released the appropriate words and a few minutes later, during the thanksgiving offering, she came to the altar to inform me that she was healed. The glory belongs to God. Every believer who is filled with the Holy Spirit is absolutely empowered to pray for the sick and they shall be healed (Luke 9:2).
“And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.”
Testimony 4
Jesus heals in diverse ways. In fact, the Holy Spirit is the greatest teacher. The power of the spoken Word is indeed awesome but sometimes the Holy Spirit gives further directive in order for wholesome healing to occur. A classic example of this procedure is the healing of the blind man by Jesus through the use of spittle and clay and a further directive to the blind man to go and wash off the combination of the spittle and clay at the pool so as to accomplish the wholesome restoration of his sight (John 9:6-7).
Vs.6: “When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
Vs.7: And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.”
By the special grace of God, I utilized this same principle as directed by the Holy Spirit to heal a member of my local church. On Sunday November 30th, 2014 - the Sunday school class was ongoing when an undergraduate youth, Mr. Olasunkanmi Ajibade walked into the church. Barely a meter after entering the church he held onto his stomach. Two church workers instantly asked him what was wrong. He affirmed that it is well. A moment later, he held onto his stomach again and bent forward while sitting. At this point, he opened up that he was having an excruciating stomach pain. The Holy Spirit told me that it was a case of food poisoning. I immediately requested for water in a sachet at the back of the auditorium. We had concluded a program - tagged – “Family Weekend” the week before and there were leftover sachets of water in bags used for the occasion. I thereafter held the sachet of water and prayed over it and gave the sachet of water to his younger brother to give to him to drink. He drank it immediately.
A week later - at the Sunday Service, he testified that less than a minute after he had drunk the water, he was perfectly healed. The glory belongs to God.
Testimony 5
I testified in church concerning divine healing for my entire household and gave the glory to God Almighty. However, a week after, my daughter was indisposed and as I was contemplating to seek medical help, the Holy Spirit ministered to me to simply pray for her and all shall be well with her. I immediately lay hands upon her head on the couch and said - “Father in the Name of Jesus - I thank you because you always hear me. Daddy, your daughter is indisposed and I know that nothing is impossible before you. Daddy, do that which you will do - You spirit of infirmity, in the name which is above every other name, hear the word of the Lord - come out of this body now in Jesus’ Name. I decree and declare - malaria fever, come out of this body now in Jesus’ Name Amen.” I left her on the couch and went into the bedroom. I returned to her two minutes later and found her comfortably sitting on the couch - reading a book. She was perfectly healed. The glory belongs to God. Indeed, there is awesome power in the spoken Word. This is in furtherance of the great commission whereby Jesus admonished believers to preach the gospel and heal all manner of sickness and disease (Matthew 4:23).
“And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people
Testimony 1
On a particular afternoon in 2012 at my residence, the atmospheric condition changed so dramatically and it was about to rain heavily. Suddenly, the wind also became so intense that it virtually uprooted plants on its course. As it were, there was this tree that slanted at an angle of about 60 degrees over the fence wall by the kitchen in my residence.
Going forward, the wind apparently increased its intensity and in fact I could see the tree slant at an angle of about 30 degrees over the fence wall - that is, originally it slanted at about 60 degrees over the fence wall but due to the wind, it moved to 30 degrees. At this point, I clearly knew that the obvious was about to happen. My children were so traumatized that they concluded by saying - “Daddy, this tree will destroy the fence wall and the kitchen roof.” Instantly, I knew that only a spiritual warfare could avert the impending calamity. So I decided to call on the creator of the storm. I know that He alone could still the storm. I reasoned that it was not going to be easy although with faith, I will be victorious. I chose to pray in tongues and after praying in tongues for about 20 minutes while raising my right hand pointed at the tree, I observed that the situation became worse. I therefore stopped praying in tongues and while still raising my right hand pointed at the tree I decreed - “You tree, in the Name of Jesus, I command you to fall in the opposite direction away from the fence wall and house. Thank you Father.”
I entered the house and emerged about three minutes later. Surprisingly, the wind had ceased and I looked for the tree but could not cite it again. I ran towards the gate - opened it and proceeded to the next plot of land on which the tree was standing. Honestly and quite frankly, I was amazed and flabbergasted - the tree fell exactly as I decreed. This is unimaginable and indeed absolutely against the laws of science. This is a wonder! The spoken Word energized by the Holy Spirit is indeed awesome. The glory belongs to God. This clearly implies that our desire can be accomplished through faith, prayer and belief in the power of the Holy Spirit as expressed through the spoken Word.
(Mark 11:24 ).
“Therefore I say unto you, what things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”
Testimony 2
Jesus aptly demonstrated that He has absolute power over nature and could decree whatsoever He desires and nature has no other option but to obey Him (Mathew 21:19-21).
Vs.19: “ And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it; Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward forever. And presently the fig tree withered away.
Vs.20: And when the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, how soon is the fig tree withered away!
Vs.21: Jesus answered and said unto them, verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, Ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.”
By the special grace of God, I practically utilized this same principle to achieve a favorable result. There is an orange tree in my residence that was yet to produce fruits despite being matured. On a particular morning while prayer-walking around the building, I was grieved in the spirit and therefore decided to walk to the orange tree to speak to it - I said “ You orange tree, hear the word of the Lord - in not more than seven days from today, I want to see orange flowers on you in Jesus’ Name Amen.”
Six days later, I curiously walked to the orange tree to inspect it. As expected, the Lord Jesus Christ proved that He has power over all things. I sighted numerous orange flower buds on the tree to the glory of God. The orange tree has remained fruitful.
Testimony 3
Naturally, I love nature. There is this mango tree in my backyard. One afternoon in 2013, I sighted a green snake on the tree but before I could come with a rod, the snake had relocated elsewhere. I frantically searched for it to no avail and in frustration I decided to use the spoken Word - I said - “You snake, I cannot find you at the moment, but the Word will find you out. In not more than seven days from today, I will stand on this spot, watch you come down from this mango tree and I will pull you down with this rod and kill you very cheaply. So shall it be in Jesus’ Name Amen.”
On the fifth day, I killed the snake exactly as I decreed. God proves that He approves the spoken Word of a believer. The glory belongs to God.
Testimony 4
At the back of my residence at night we usually hear a strange noise. Mistakenly, I assumed that it was a neighbor’s car alarm. This continued for weeks until a next door neighbor notified me that it was an “evil bird.” Armed with this fact, I decided to wait for the bird to start the noise so as to boldly confront it. At about 2.00am, I heard the noise - the “evil bird” was at it again. I got up from the bed, opened the main entrance door and proceeded to the backyard. I instantly located the direction the noise was coming from and the Holy Spirit aptly notified me that it was indeed a case of witchcraft. I immediately pointed at the direction of the noise and started speaking in tongues. I spoke in tongues for about three minutes and decreed the death of the bird. Shortly thereafter, the noise ceased. Since then we have not heard such noise again.
The glory belongs to God.
The word of God is awesome and indeed so powerful that it is absolutely beyond human comprehension. As earlier highlighted, it is energized by the Holy Spirit. (Hebrews 4:12).
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
It is advisable for us as believers to be very careful in our choice of words because they are spirit and life (John 6:63).
“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing; the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
There is abundant and tremendous power in the spoken Word. In the spirit realm - even in the realm of the subconscious, the words spoken are as powerful as when we are fully awake. I have had a series of practical experiences that attest to this fact. Before I share these diverse experiences in the form of testimonies, let us aptly dwell on the carrier of the Holy Spirit.
A carrier of the Holy Spirit abounds with signs. He is momentarily and usually recognized by powers of darkness - even from afar. They bow for the carrier or flee from him or her, or acknowledge and expose the presence of God in the carrier. This truth was aptly demonstrated by Christ in Matthew 8:28-32.
Vs.28: “And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.
Vs.29: And, behold, they cried out, saying, what have we to do with thee, Jesus thou son of God? Art thou come hither to torment us before the time?
Vs.30: And there was a good way off from them, an herd of many swine feeding.
Vs.31: So the devils besought him, saying, if thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine.
Vs.32: And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.”
If a carrier of the Holy Spirit comes around someone possessed by demons, the demons will recognize him instantly and begin to expose him. A carrier of the Holy Spirit is obviously a carrier of light - anywhere there is light, darkness automatically disappears. A carrier of the Holy Spirit is as bold as a lion. The Lord has not given us the spirit of fear but of boldness to do exploit for the kingdom of God. What kind of spirit are you carrying? If you are a Holy Spirit carrier - you are blessed - by His grace we shall meet in heaven. Peradventure you are on the other side, it is not too late - kindly accept Jesus and receive power to become a victor - doing exploits for Christ - culminating in ultimate kingdom benefits and glory.
Testimony 1
During the late 1980’s, there was a woman who was mentally deranged. She was primarily domiciled adjacent to the gate of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi–Araba Lagos southwest Nigeria. The road was usually very busy with heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic. I noticed that whenever I got to the point she was standing, she impulsively kneels down and got up only after I must have passed by her. While other people were going to and fro, she would not kneel. This invariably implies the recognition of a power known to her. On my return journey, immediately I reach the spot she was located, she will impulsively kneel again. However, some years later, I got a revelation concerning her actions - The evil spirits in her revered the presence of the Holy Spirit.
Testimony 2
Towards the end of the first half of 1993 while still at my place of National Service at the Government Secondary School in Anka, northwest Nigeria, I and two other colleagues, Messrs. Friday Obiefula and Ayorinde Kolawole were returning from the evening fellowship. The main road leading to our residence was lonely and we sighted a mentally ill man afar. A colleague asked us to cross to the other side of the road in order to avoid a possible physical attack on us by the mentally ill man. However, I thought otherwise. I told him that the contrary would happen. The man would rather revere the presence of the Holy Spirit in us. I was sure from experience that the demons in the man would bow to the superior power of the Holy Spirit. We continued trekking and when the man got to us, he momentarily stopped adjacent to us - he made a bow and continued his journey unhindered. This confirmed my faith and belief.
Testimony 3
A covenant child of God (Believer) is uniquely empowered by the Holy Spirit to do exploit for Christ. The scriptures below support this assertion (Jeremiah 51:20-22).
Vs.20: “Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms;
Vs.21: And with thee will I break in pieces the horse and its rider; and with thee will I break in pieces the chariot and his rider;
Vs.22: With thee also will I break in pieces man and woman; and with thee will I break in pieces old and young; and with thee will I break in pieces the young man and the maid.”
(Exodus.14:14). “The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”
(Psalms 105:14-15).
Vs.14: “He suffered no man to do them wrong; yea, he reproved kings for their sakes;
Vs.15: Says, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.”
I had a dream in August 2014. In the dream, a man came to me on my bed and held me on the neck. He thereafter attempted to strangulate me. As he proceeded with his evil intention, I managed to shout the name of Jesus twice and the man convulsed very rapidly and died in less than a minute. Thereafter, I left my home and as I returned - from afar, I noticed two men alighting from a car opposite my gate. They were holding pistols obviously with an intention to arrest me. I looked at them and thought instinctively about their embarrassing presence. I reasoned that I did not kill the man but mentioned the name of Jesus twice and he died. I was the one being attacked and not the other way. As I approached them - I said, “Lord, remove these ones from my sight.” A thunderous force instantly wiped them away from my sight into oblivion. This is indeed an apt demonstration of the power of the spoken Word energized by the Holy Spirit.
Testimony 4
Also in a dream, a lad died and his father asked me to assist him to bathe the corpse. I oblige him and after bathing the corpse, I asked him whether he believes that his son could come back to life. He was so angry to the extent that he reported me to two neighbors who resolved to stone me to death for acknowledging the impossible. I pleaded with them to allow me to perform the task. They willy-nilly granted my request. I thereafter stood at a distance from the corpse on a raised platform and prayed in tongues for a moment and later commanded the boy to come back to life. The boy responded almost immediately and came back to life. This further lends credence to the power of the spoken Word energized by the Holy Spirit even in a dream. God is awesome!
Humility is a virtue I personally cherish. The fact that we are mere dust and ash is enough for us to be humble. It is said that the difference between the dead and the living is time. Therefore everyone has an appointed time to die. The scripture alludes to this statement of fact as obtained in Ecclesiastes 3:1-2.
Vs.1: “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.
Vs.2 : A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and time to pluck up that which is planted.”
Everyone invariably has a specific time to die. Therefore, our focus should be – the desire to end well through patience, obedience and humility as exemplified by Christ. Our end is absolutely more important to God than our beginning (Ecclesiastes 7:8).
“Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof; and the patient in spirit is better than the proud inspirit.”
Jesus also practically demonstrated the fact that humility and obedience leads to promotion by God (Philippians 2:8-9).
Vs.8: “And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death on the cross.
Vs.9: Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name.”
From the foregoing, Jesus humbled himself and ultimately, God the father exalted Him. This clearly shows that there is a great reward for the humble. The society and our creator acknowledge the essence and benefits of humility. On the other hand, God hates the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6).
“But he giveth more grace, wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.”
The scriptures below further give credence to this belief (1 Peter 5:5-6).
Vs.5: “Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder, yea all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility; for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
Vs.6: Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.”
(James 4:10). “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.”
(Isaiah 2:11). “The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.”
(Luke 14:11). “For whosoever exalted himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.”
Testimony
At a point during the period I was Assistant Parish Pastor of my local church, the parish pastor was ill and hospitalized. During the night of her second day at the hospital, the Holy Spirit ministered to me that I will never see her again if I do not proceed immediately to the hospital to pray with her. At this time, I was at the dinner table. Honestly, the time was not convenient for me considering the heavy vehicular traffic on the road at the time. However, the humility of the parish pastor strongly motivated me to promptly hearken to the leading and revelation of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit succinctly brought to my remembrance an incidence that occurred on the 20 th of April 1997. My father was hospitalized at Ikeja General Hospital, but now Lagos State University Teaching Hospital Ikeja in southwest Nigeria. I had Left my father in the hospital after a visit at about 9.30pm. As I made my way out of the ward, the Holy Spirit ministered to me that I will never meet him alive again. I instantly decided to go back to the ward to say a few words to him. So I held him very warmly and asked God to give him five more years to live if God was sure my father will not transit to heaven. But if God knew that my father would transit to eternity gloriously then he could call him home. My interest is his final home – Eternity with God.
After praying for a while, I left the hospital for my home and six hours later, my elder brother who was at my father’s bedside notified us of his passing to glory. After the Holy Spirit prompted this recall, I promptly expedited effort to reach the hospital on time. I got to the hospital and met my pastor half asleep in the ward with her mother sitting on a chair beside her. I immediately commenced prayer and all she could do was utter Amen half consciously. After the prayer, I informed her mother that her daughter was alright. She responded slowly and I noticed traces of doubt in her response. As far as I was concerned, the word has gone out and must achieve its purpose (Isaiah 55:11).
“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: It shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”
To God be the glory, she received her healing. Her humility, God’s grace and mercy saved her from imminent death.
When we pray, the spoken Word is essentially and usually the medium of communication between us and God Almighty. However, the answer to prayer may not necessarily be communicated through the spoken Word although in some cases this is obtained. Oftentimes, we discover that our prayer requests have been answered through vivid and practical manifestations. Some other times God speaks to us through the Holy Spirit - notifying us of the answer to our prayers. It could be through a sign, vision, revelation, word of knowledge etc. It is not compulsorily through the spoken Word. On the other hand however, our prayer requests are communicated to God through the spoken Word. This chapter essentially is about prayer requests answered through the utilization of the instrumentality of faith and the spoken Word.
Occasionally, after a sermon or ministration, the Holy Spirit prompts me to have compassion for the congregation. As directed by the Holy Spirit, I often issue a blank check to the congregation individually in the form of a question - “What do you want the Lord to do for you? Jesus Christ sometimes used this method. An example that readily comes to mind is the case of blind Bartimaeus (Mark 10:51-52).
Vs.51: “And Jesus answered and said unto him, what will thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.
Vs.52: And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath, made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.”
Also, Prophet Elisha also used this principle to achieve a miracle for the Shunammite woman who was barren – She gave birth to a Son thereafter (2Kings 4:12-17).
Vs.12: “And he said to Gehazi his servant, Call this Shunammite. And when he had called her, she stood before him.
Vs.13: And he said unto him, say now unto her, Behold, thou has been careful for us with all this care; What is to be done for thee? Wouldest thou be spoken for to the king or to the captain of the host? And she answered, I dwell among mine own people.
Vs.14: And he said, what then is to be done for her? And Gehazi answered, verily, she hath no child, and her husband is old.
Vs.15: And he said, call her. And when he had called her, she stood at the door.
Vs.16: And he said, about this season, according to the time of life, thou shalt embrace a son. And she said, Nay, my lord, thou man of God, do not lie unto thine handmaid.
Vs.17: And the woman conceived, and bare a son at that season that Elisha had said unto her, according to the time of life.”
When a man of God wants to bless you, he often asks you for a request. At the time Prophet Elijah was to be translated, he asked Elisha for a request (2Kings 2:9-10).
Vs.9. “And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.
Vs.10: And he said, Thou has asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, It shall be so unto thee; but if not, It shall not be so.”
Testimony 1
At my local church, after a sermon, I asked the members of the congregation to come forward and make prayer requests of the Lord. A member, Miss. Isabel came forward and requested for university admission. I released the appropriate words and she got the admission to study Law at the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile Ife, Osun State in southwest Nigeria. The glory belongs to God. Her father aptly testified that he was surprised at the admission because he least expected it. Fortunately, before God, nothing shall be impossible (Luke 1:37).
Testimony 2
Another member of the church Miss. Adebola Adeosun also requested for university admission. She was admitted to study Botany at Nigeria’s premier university – that is, The University of Ibadan.
Testimony 3
Also at my local church, I received a word of Knowledge concerning a youth Mr. Segun - he had issues with destiny manipulation. I asked the entire congregation to join me in prayer so as to restore his destiny. Three days later, his father received a surprise phone call from The Obafemi Awolowo University Ile Ife, Osun State in southwest Nigeria notifying him of his son’s admission to study Law.
Testimony 4
At a night vigil in my local church in Ibadan, southwest Nigeria, tagged - “Battle at Midnight” on November 14 th 2014 - after the sermon, I asked a visiting youth a question – “What do you want the Lord to do for you?” He requested for university admission. So I decree concerning the request and barely two weeks later, the young man, Mr. Rotimi Eyiolawi accosted me on the road and requested to have a word with me. I obliged him and he informed me that he attended a vigil barely two weeks earlier at my local church and that he requested for university admission and that the good news is that he has been admitted by Osun State University to study Education Management.
The glory belongs to God.
Testimony 5
I received word of Knowledge from the Lord that a particular week was a week of laughter for the congregation in my local church. A member of the church Mrs. Rachael Adeosun keyed into the word. Every morning of that week, she confessed that - pastor said the week is a week of laughter. She confessed it and believed. Miraculously, at the end of that week, her husband who was out of town at that time gave her a surprise car gift. The spoken Word is no doubt very potent in accomplishing spiritual tasks. If you are connected to the Holy Spirit - essentially through the baptism in the Holy Spirit - no word from your mouth shall return to you void. And if the Holy Spirit is with you - then God is with you (Isaiah 55:11).
“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”
Satan utilizes the spoken Word deceptively and efficiently to perfect its aim and objectives. However, the believer should unequivocally understand that all authority has been given unto him to trample upon Satan victoriously and perpetually. The scripture clearly supports this assertion as obtained in Luke 10:19.
“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
