Thit Bo Xao Dau

 

Cooking Time: 30 m

Servings: 8

 

Ingredients

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

2 teaspoons cornstarch

1/4 cup and 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

2 pounds sirloin tips, thinly sliced

1/4 cup and 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 onion, thinly sliced

4 cups fresh green beans, washed and trimmed

1/3 cup and 1 tablespoon and 1 teaspoon chicken broth

2 teaspoons soy sauce

 

Directions

 

Step 1: Place 2 teaspoon vegetable oil, garlic, cornstarch, and black pepper together in a large mixing bowl. Add beef, combine well.

 

Step 2: Heat 4 tablespoons oil over high heat in a large skillet for 1 minute. Place meat, stir and cook until beef begins to brown, about 2 minutes. Place beef to a large bowl. Set aside.

 

Step 3: In a wok, heat rest 2 tablespoon oil. Stir onion cook until tender. Add green beans and broth. Cover, and reduce heat to medium. Simmer until beans are tender crisp about 4 -5 minutes. Add soy sauce and beef to cook, stirring constantly for a few minutes, until heated through.

 

 

 

Vietnamese Spicy Dipping Sauce (Nuoc Cham)

 

Cooking Time: 1 h 10 m

Servings: 12

 

Ingredients

1/2 cup and 1 teaspoon water

7-1/4 spicy red chile peppers, seeded and minced

7-1/4 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 cup and 2 teaspoons fish sauce

1/4 cup and 2 teaspoons rice vinegar

1/4 cup and 2 teaspoons white sugar

1/4 cup and 2 teaspoons lemon juice

 

Directions

 

Step 1: In a saucepan over medium-low heat, combine sugar, chile peppers, water, rice vinegar, garlic, and fish sauce together, stir until sugar dissolves into the liquid. set aside about 1 hour to cool completely.

 

Step 2: Add lemon juice into the cooled liquid stir together.

 

 

 

Vietnamese Pickled Daikon Radish and Carrots

 

Cooking Time: 1 day

Servings: 10

 

Ingredients

4 cups warm water

3/4 cup rice vinegar

3 tablespoons sugar

2 tablespoons salt

1/2 pound carrots, julienned

1/2 pound daikon radish, julienned

 

Directions

 

Step 1: In a bowl, stir salt, vinegar, water, and sugar together, until sugar and salt have dissolved.

 

Step 2: Add daikon and carrots into a sterile jar. Pour over with vinegar mixture until thoroughly covered the vegetables. Seal and keep refrigerate at least 1 day, perfectly 3 days.
