Preface

Although Celestino was very frightened, he kept walking through the woods and in the process, he heard the howl of a wolf growing closer and closer, and then the cold was added to the fear, which began to make its presence felt on his sick little body, clad only in his pyjamas, and unfortunately, the lights of the boarding school could not even be seen in the distance!

Celestino is a sweet and spirited child, but life has dealt him a rather harsh fate. At only four years old, his family, made up of his mother, father and sister, is forced to abandon him at the mercy of a world that seems barren, lacking love and affection, leaving him in a boarding school. He is deeply scarred by these circumstances, yet he shows unrivalled maturity and intelligence, being able to understand his parents’ reasons and having an unbounded love for them and his little sister.

Although our protagonist is very young, he already knows the toll of loneliness and the hardships that life brings, but he shows great inner strength. He manages to face life’s difficulties with courage and great resilience, becoming for us readers an example of humanity, empathy and wisdom. As if by placing all those hurdles in his path, existence had made him too mature for his age, although his heart remains pure and young, yearning for love, for a life to share with his loved ones.

Everyone wanted to adopt him as soon as they met him, but although Celestino was a small child, his ideas were very clear and every time he was offered the opportunity to live with his new adoptive parents, he would reply sulkily: “I already have my parents and my sister”.

The story does not lack a hint of magic that infuses the entire story, as each encounter, from the first to the last, is able to shape his destiny and provide him with the help he so richly deserves in order to find his place in the world.
