The first chapter is a reminder for how important it is to surround yourself with the right people, and at the same time also to be that kind of person for the people around you.

Special Connections

Sometimes

you meet people

and it feels like

you’ve known them forever.

It doesn’t matter

if you talked to them before

or if so, how often –

there’s this connection

that neither of you can doubt.

It could be your first conversation,

yet it still feels like

you’ve known each other

for a much longer time.

People like this are rare.

But so incredibly special.

There are not

a lot of people like this

that you’ll meet in your life,

yet the few that you do meet

will be a very special part of your life.

It’s not even about

how much time

you spend with them

or how often you see each other –

it could be once

and then never again,

yet it would be a special time.

People like this are unique.

Each one of them is.

In these people

you might have found people

you will never forget.

No matter if you spent

just a few minutes with them

or a much longer timespan,

no matter if you saw them

only once in your life

or on a regular basis –

These are connections

that you will remember

for a long time of your life.

Maybe even forever.

If you can,

hold on to them.

Family / DNA

in honor of my (chosen) family

For a long time of my life

I haven't been sure

who I would count

as my family.

I have been sure

that some people

I'm blood related to

haven't been behaving

according to

my understanding

of being family,

yet I haven't been aware

of something very important.

Family is about

so much more

than just DNA.

Today,

I know exactly

who I would refer to

as my family.

And just a few of them

are people

that I am

blood related to.

To me personally,

family means

being connected

by a bondage

that cannot be

broken

by any means.

Family means,

that you love the person

and they love you back –

unconditionally.

Family means

genuinely

caring,

supporting,

and trusting

each other –

unconditionally.

Family means

that the person

is someone you can call

at any time of the day,

and they will

never

let you fall.

Family means

that it doesn’t matter

if you’re blood related or not –

as long as you’re deeply connected.

It’s about so much more

than just blood relation.

And, at the same time,

just because you're blood related

it doesn't necessarily mean

that you are

family.

On the contrary –

for a lot of people

it's their

chosen family

that defines

family

for them.
