Introduction

Superior intellect is always in demand. Anyone who knows how to get things done will always have a job, while anyone who knows why will always be his boss. Top-notch thinkers deal with problems, have suggestions for improving organizations, and hope for a brighter tomorrow. Adolf Hitler, the dictator of Nazi Germany, boasted, "What fortunate rulers that mankind does not think." Excellent thinkers are rarely used or deceived by cruel people. Creative minds can self-regulate, even under the most oppressive of governments. Successful people tend to be good thinkers.

After studying successful people for forty years, I've found that despite their differences, they all share a set of core values. This is what separates the winners from the losers. That's some good news. Observe the mental processes of those who have achieved success and learn from them. If you change the way you think, you can alter your entire existence.

STOP BELIEVING THAT

It is essential to think outside the box. Good ideas bring in cash, resolve problems, and open up new avenues of opportunity. It's a boost to your status in life. Life-changing.

Think about the following data on mental change:

Thought Change Does Not Happen On Its Own

To alter one's opinion, however, requires effort. Rarely do people stumble upon truly great ideas. Try to find some really cool concepts. If you put in the effort to sharpen your mind, you'll find those brilliant ideas keep coming to you. The truth is that your level of intelligence determines how well you can think.

It's difficult to Reconsider

If I say something like, "Now this is simply off the top of my head," you can assume it has dandruff. Only the unthinking find thinking easy. Albert Einstein, a great thinker, once said, "Thinking is hard work; that's why so few do it." It's not easy to think clearly, so you should use any advantage you can get.

It's beneficial to reevaluate things every once in a while

According to Napoleon Hill, "more gold has been mined from the mind of man than has ever been extracted from the earth." Improving one's mental faculties is a worthwhile investment. Gold mines are a major source of air pollution. There has been a severe drop in stock prices. It is possible that real estate investments will go bust. An intelligent mind is a treasure trove with no end in sight. Priceless.

PROMOTING OPTIMAL CONSIDERATION

Do you aspire to become a master thinker? Do you hope to enhance your mental abilities tomorrow? Then, consistently work to improve your mental state. Experiment with this:

Obtain Superb Suggestions

Great thinkers are always coming up with new concepts. Since input influences output, they actively seek stimuli for thought.

Get your hands on some good books, periodicals, and audio recordings, and surround yourself with intelligent people. Keep an idea that appeals to you, whether it is your own or someone else's. Make a note of it and post it in your go-to mental workspace.

Read the Works of Great Minds

Introduce yourself to the right people. I think I grew as a person as I worked on this piece and bounced ideas off of significant others who helped me see things from different perspectives. All of my close associates and colleagues are highly intelligent people. As a result, I have developed an unconditional fondness for everyone. Conferences, books, audio classes, etc., are just some of the ways I try to be helpful and polite to as many people as possible. But the ideas and actions of my friends push me to grow. They're always trying to better themselves. Margaret, who is my wife, and the top executives at our company are all like that. The consensus is positive.

In the same way that iron sharpens iron, so do sharp minds sharpen the minds of their peers, as the proverb goes. Hang out with savvy individuals to sharpen your own mind.

Third, Keep a Good Mood

Think strategically about how to better yourself. Make time to contemplate, form, stretch, and land your ideas. Prioritize. Disciplined thought is a must.

I met with Dan Cathy, president of Chick-fil-A, for brunch in Atlanta. I informed him I was writing this book and inquired whether he prioritized thinking time. He agreed and went into detail about his "thought process." That aids him in overcoming the hectic lifestyle that prevents him from giving serious consideration to anything. Every other week, Dan spends half day thinking, once a month he spends an entire day, and twice a year he sets aside several days to reflect. Dan says, "Because I am easily distracted, this helps me 'keep the main thing, the main thing.'"

You can either stick to this schedule or make your own. Take some time to yourself, find a quiet place, and jot down some notes.

 Be Good.

Ideas expire. Before expiry, act on them. World War One ace aviator Eddie Rickenbacker once said, "I can offer you a six-word prescription for success: Think things through—then follow through."

Let Feelings Make another Good Thought

One's emotions can't initiate logical thought. In Failing Ahead, I stated that you may act before you feel. You'll never finish if you wait till you feel like it. The minds are alike in this respect. You must act now. I've realized that rational thought can harness feelings to generate motivation.

Experiment Following a disciplined thought process and achievement enjoy the moment and ride the mental energy. If you're like me, it'll generate new ideas.

Repeat.

The best lives aren't built on the foundation of good thoughts. One-hit wonders rarely succeed beyond their initial success. One-hit wonders, one-book writers, one-message speakers, and one-time innovators spend their lives defending or promoting their one concept. Success comes to those who dig a mountain of gold, not those who discover one nugget and live on it for fifty years. It's like mining for gold; you just need to keep thinking good thoughts over and over.

Positioning yourself to think

Thinking well is simple. Discipline. Doing the six things I listed will set you up for improved thinking. How do you get daily ideas?

I'll show you how I find and develop excellent ideas. That works for me, but there are others.

Locate Somewhere to Ponder

If you go to your thinking spot hoping to have excellent ideas, you will. Where should I think? Individuals differ. Showers help some folks think. Dick Biggs, like myself, likes parks. I think best in my vehicle, aircraft, and spa. I also get ideas in bed. My nightstand has an illuminated writing pad for such occasions. I guess I receive ideas because I visit my thinking spots. Do the same thing to produce ideas. Locate a space to ponder and write down your ideas to avoid forgetting them. When I found a spot to ponder, my thoughts found me.

Shape your ideas.

Ideas seldom arrive complete. They usually require shaping to get solidity. “Stand the test of clarity and questioning,” my buddy Dan Reiland advises. When molding, examine a concept closely. Late-night ideas often appear foolish in the morning. Question your ideas. Adjust. Writing down your ideas might help. "Learning to write is learning to think," said professor, college president, and U.S. senator S. I. Hayakawa. Writing clarifies what you know. "When you think, you discover an idea's potential." Learn what you have. You also discover yourself. Because it represents:

Humor: Failed ideas are frequently funny.

Humility: Connecting with God amazes me. Excitement: I like visualizing ideas. It's "future." Creativity: I'm unconstrained.

Fulfillment: It leverages my finest talents and brings me delight.

Honesty: Thinking about an idea reveals my actual motivations. Passion: Forming a concept reveals your values.

Change: I made most of my life adjustments after careful consideration.

You can form your ideas practically anywhere. Just locate a spot where you can write, concentrate, and ask questions.

Expand Your Ideas

If you have fantastic ideas and mentally shape them, don't stop there. You'll miss some of the best parts of thinking. You miss involving people and maximizing ideas.

I'll confess to making this mistake in the past. I intended to develop a concept from seed to solution before telling anybody, including those it would affect. At work and home, I did this. I've learned that working together is better than doing it alone.

I've uncovered a formula to help you think bigger. "

It's unbeatable. Every notion may be amazing, just like every person. You uncover that possibility when you broaden your thinking.

Put Your Ideas Down

“Great ideas require landing gear as well as wings,” writes C. D. Jackson. A concept that remains an idea doesn't matter. A concept becomes powerful when applied. Recall Einstein's relativity theory. His theories were only brilliant concepts when he published them in 1905 and 1916. Between 1942 and 1945, they developed the nuclear reactor and bomb. The world altered as scientists used Einstein's theories.

If you want your ideas to be executed, you need to share them. Before applying your thoughts, land them with...

Yourself: It is admirable to come up with an idea on one's own. An idea will only be accepted if the leader is trusted. I ask myself three questions before teaching: "Do I believe it?" Do I? Do I think others should? If I can't answer all three questions, I didn't get it.

Leaders: Without influencers, no idea will fly. They execute ideas, after all.

Most Affected: You'll learn a lot by talking to the target. A "reality read" may be given by those closest to fresh concept modifications. And that's crucial because even after carefully constructing, refining, and expanding a notion with other brilliant thinkers, you might still miss the target.
